A dinner date of sorts
Who: Adrian Pucey, Pansy Parkinson, anyone else
What: 1998-99 Season British and Irish Quidditch League Awards Night
Where: In a fancy, magical hall like venue with a bar.
When: Saturday 24th March, 1999
Rating: TBA
Status: Incomplete

Adrian was dressed to the nines for the ball, and even though he was technically attending to work, he'd been delighted when Pansy had accepted his invitation to join him for the event. He'd sent his note asking her with an arrangement of purple and green flowers, to make up for his lack of communication lately (planning the event had been a priority in the Press Office and he'd been busier than usual).

With her on his arm he felt calm in a way that surprised him, but there was something about her effortless charm that put his restless personality at ease. They entered the ball not long after 4:30 and he got them each a pre-dinner cocktail before starting to make the rounds, introducing her to everyone from the Ministry that he recognized. Smiling at her he leaned in and asked if she'd dance with him after dinner and kissed her lightly on the cheek in a rare display of public affection before his boss - the Press Minister - came over to introduce himself.

Adrian couldn't help but laugh lightly at her summary, "He certainly is," her moved her around the dance floor with the confidence of a young man who had many years of formal instruction, as all good Purebloods did, his mother assured him.

"He was, many years before our time," his face betrayed none of his displeasure with his superior. "Of course, in this Ministry I do hope to move up in the office over due time," the idea of being Press Minister had been what lured Adrian to the Department in the first place. To be the person who defines what the public knows, it was too much for Adrian to resist, clearly.

"Of course, every Ministry event is better off thanks to your attendance, I do hope you don't mind joining me for absolutely all of them," he emphasized the last bit, hoping to get his point across. Adrian didn't "court" lightly, and his relationship with Pansy may have started without plan or agenda, but he found herself enjoying her more and more, her place in society only sweetened the pot.

She allowed him to take the lead while dancing - keywords there being 'she allowed'. Pansy was a leader in her own right and wouldn't let just anyone push her around. She would need to see what she could get out of a situation before allowing herself to be lead and so far, Adrian had proved her had potential.

"Naturally," Pansy replied, pleased with the ambitious answer. She wouldn't have been satisfied if he had said he was perfectly content with being someone else's minion. Pansy was a princess (at least, in her own mind and that of her parents) and she deserved the best.

"Oh Mr Pucey, you flatter me." A coy grin appearing on her features, not missing his point at all but wanting to tease a little by not giving a definite answer. "Of course, I would have to check my schedule. After all, don't want to double book myself. It would be absolutely unfair to the other person because I might find myself hard pressed to want to miss accompaning you to another event such as this."

"Flattery is the least I can do, you've rescued me from an evening of actually speaking to these people," he said leaning in close to the shell of her ear.

"I would certainly be honored if you could arrange for that," he chuckled, wondering if Pansy's cool exterior extended to the bedroom or if it - like for himself - the smooth socialite bit was all an act.

With a flourished turn and pulling her back in he pulled her close and stopped for a moment, "Pansy, would you be interested in after dinner drinks?"

His breath as he spoke tickled her ear softly due to being so close, making it difficult to just concerntrate on his words alone. There was no denying Pansy was attracted to the man she was dancing with. Adrian seemed to be a lot more mature than the boys she was used to, probably because he was actually a young man and not a boy at all. It was intriguing.

Pansy put her hand against the older ex-Slytherin's chest as she was pulled back in from the turn, using her sense of touch to take a guess at how Adrian looked beneath his shirt. Quidditch players were fit and once upon a time Adrian was a player, Pansy wondered if he had changed much since he no longer played the sport.

Looking back up when he asked her a question, Pansy nodded in answer. "Would definitely be interested."
