The 1998-99 British and Irish Quidditch League Awards NightThis thread is here to act as a guide as to how the night went because it'd be boring to RP the whole lot out. Players are welcome to RP out parts of the night in their own threads, but please link it back here so we can keep it all together.
The event took place in a fancy, magical hall that looks kind of like
this only tables would be decked out in Quidditch Teams colours and there's a bar. The hall is in a house owned by one of the Quidditch League's Executives and guests and invitees would enter via the main gates, do a little press run along the red carpet before entering the house and being escourted to the dining hall by sharply dressed waiters.
Guests start arriving from 4pm and can arrive no later than 6pm. Doors to the hall shut at 6pm sharp. Late comers will be turned away.
At the front of the hall there is a stage with a table where the excutives sit and the League's Quidditch Cup and some minor trophies around it. Players and their guests sit at Team Tables and then other guests (those that bought tickets) sit to the back of the hall on more plainly dressed tables. Right at the back of the room is a fully staffed bar.
There is a sit down meal - provided magically, of course, by the house elves in the kitchens - at 7pm, allowing time for the guests to mingle a bit first. Plates are magically cleared away by 8pm and then the awards start. Awards include (And yes, the Reserve teams do get a look in):
Best Keeper - Oliver Wood (Puddlemere United)
Best Chaser Individual - Fabius Watkins (Montrose Magpies)
Best Chaser Team - Falmouth Falcons
Best Beater Individual - Finbar Quigley (Ballycastle Bats)
Best Beater Team - Kenmere Kestrals
Best Seeker - Cho Chang (Puddlemere United - Reserves)
Player of the Year - Aidan Lynch (Kenmere Kestrals)
Rookie of the Year - Dominic Montague (Falmouth Falcons)
Winners of the Quidditch Cup - Falmouth Falcons
Wooden Spoon (Last Place Team) - Chudley Cannons
The Quidditch players are allowed to give speeches but they don't have to be played out. Just have your character comment on it in their journal (if you want). (Please note: Quigley and Watkins were two names picked off the HP-wiki and play for the teams listed according to it).
After the awards are handed out, the tables are magically pushed to the side and a dance floor is created and guest of the event are invited to party till dawn, if they so wish. Or they can drown their sorrows at the bar. Or they could be boring and just go home.
So, there you have it. That's all you need to know, I think. Feel free to play out parts of the night. And remember, Rita Skeeter and her team from Witch Weekly will be buzzing about so careful what your character does because it may make the next issue.
