Meme response--- Hajime and Kayura |
[30 Jan 2013|02:15am] |
Kayura is taking a call in her office. The door is wide open so it would be easy for anyone to over hear her as she is talking.
"Three of them, you say? Well that shouldn't be a problem," she said calmly. "I have seen more. Now how old is the property?"
She writes something down.
"Well I'll take care of it over the weekend. I have a few days off this weekend and I can conduct my research there. It's just three spirits. It shouldn't be a problem. Like I said."
She pauses and listens almost laughing. "Seriously? Aa. It sounds like they have a sense of humor then as far as spirits go. I'll be careful."
It looked like she was going to have a very busy weekend. Kayura said her goodbyes to her friend hanging up the phone and looked quite thoughtful as well as a touch amused. Prankster spirits? That sounds different than violent ones or confused ones.
A nice change of pace.

Kayura is feeling pretty pleased with herself. She and the American ,Nick, had dealt with a powerful Oni together. She wasn't so sure about his other half but her armor hadn't reacted to him as a person very strongly. They had agreed to go get a drink under the condition that she could borrow his jacket as her shirt had disappeared.
Only the bar is closed. She wrinkles her nose in thought. "We have a few options, Nick-san. What would you prefer?"

Honestly Kayura was feeling pretty good. The days since the incident which should not be named (with that woman Kayura had taken to calling the Yakuza Princess)had gotten better. She wasn't upset about what she had seen as a really bad accident.
That meant she was doing not just as well as she had been in her training prior to that but there was a noticeable improvement. She was happy about it. Normally she did smile easily except when she was training but right now there was a slightly infectious tug at the corner of her mouth. She's happy and unless something goes wrong nothing will change that mood.

1. When were you born? Where?
August 1, 1990
Tokyo General Hospital.
2. What were some of the first words and phrases you spoke?
Nekko. My mother had a big black and white cat who liked to sleep near my crib. I liked petting her I'm told.
3. At what age did you first attend school? What school did you go to? Did you like it? Four. I don't remember how old I was. But I do remember I had so much fun there.
4. Name one of your fondest childhood memories. Papa would play old movies every Friday and Saturday. He made sure to take time off and I'd fall asleep in his lap when I was really little.
5. Now name one of your worst. The first time I saw a kappa. I was maybe six or seven years old and it was very creepy. Also it made off with a pail I had.
6. Name one of your most embarrassing.
I wasn't easily embarrassed as a child. But I was a very shy child. Mama tried to get me to enjoy performing in music recitals in front of people and I was very young and.... well. I think I fainted from panic. I don't really remember but I do know I blushed a great deal.
7. Which parent/adult were you closest to as a small child? Papa.
8. What about as a teenager? It evened out.
9. Did you ever try drinking, drugs, or both? What all have you tried? Were you ever caught? Oh no. I didn't try drinking until last year.

11. Who was your best friend when you were really small? I didn't really have friends. Papa didn't think our home was safe for outsiders to the family.
12. Who was your best friend when you were a teenager?

Mama's cat Stars. I want a dog now that I'm older. Or a cat. I miss the companionship an animal can give you.

The Spirit in the Bath House |
[10 Dec 2011|03:25pm] |
There was something wrong at a Bath House. She knew it in her gut and with every fiber of her being. There were problems with this though.
Problems with her being a girl so she couldn't sneak around as easily. It was more noticeable if a girl was sneaking around a bath house instead of a guy.
The good thing was she was done with school for a few weeks so she could focus her attention on this case.
Bad new. She had to do something and nudity was involved. The obvious answer was to bring Sempai along for this little adventure so she could just deal with it. And politely ignore all nudity because this was business and not er, pleasure.
Because she knew she had to find that spirit and deal with it. She just needed help dealing with the sneaking. Besides the fact that Kayura had started to get used to having back up and a second set of eyes was always good especially since she was a bit mentally drained for detecting stuff out of her armor due to her finals turning from easy to stressful so she knew she needed the help too.
Good thing Sempai is awesome.

Training shenanigans |
[09 Nov 2011|12:19am] |
Kayura had been in a very good mood when they had finally gotten to training. She had finally managed to get close to perfect marks in a difficult class.
Her last four hunts had gone well even if she had been taking backup on every single one to be safe.
And it looked like training with Hajime-sempai was going well.
Up until his bokken hit her thigh.
Suddenly there's a draft which is just odd. She doesn't care she's going to fix what went wrong then they can move on, right?

Plotidea - The Lost Village |
[30 Sep 2011|02:59pm] |
1) One of the team's sources contacts the Big Hero Six about a team of missing geological surveyors from the government. They had been looking at the best way to redirect a damn for a new electric power plant. They went missing.
Kayura thinks the name of the region sounds familiar and looks into the history for missing people in the last century. The results she finds make her wonder if it's something supernatural and she wants to take a closer look.
2) The whole team finds themselves hiking in the same area. Kayura notices some old ruins and place markers that she hadn't read up on. Just as they get close Kayura, Hajime, Kayura,Keiji , and Clockwork get the sense that something up ahead is very wrong. To different degrees anyways.
Clockwork will get the sense that it is old and volatile magic.
They try to turn back until they can figure out what is what. But no matter the time of day it was, suddenly it's full dark and they can hear what sounds like a festival going on. There is loud chanting and down a path they know was not there they can see the glows of bon fires and a festive looking very old village.
To Hajime it will appear a little modern.
Going down to investigate they will see a well lit village but no people.
3) As they start to go down into the village they find themselves almost violent teloported to different sections of the village.
3 a) Hajime and Grogg wake up in a garden outside of a broken down looking manor. They will be greeted by a group of young childish ghosts who are fascinated by Hajime since there are no warriors in their peaceful village according to them.
And they love Grogg and beg Hajime and Grogg to play a game with them. Upon winning the game Hajime learns from one ghost that the children are aware they have died long ago but the adults are reliving the night they all died over and over. The leader of the children thinks that if the 'bad thing' is stopped they can get their families to cross over with them and they will wait until their two new friends help before they leave. They give Hajime a key to let him and Grogg into any of the buildings in the village.
3b) Amiko wakes up in a shrine. She encounters and is forced to face a blood drenched ghost who believes she has seen a forbidden section of the shrine. She discovers this spirit is solid enough to fight one on one.
A few attendants help the priest in the fight though. Once she wins she discovers documents referencing a forbidden ritual to contain a great evil.
And that the villagers felt they were running out of time and they had to hurry to prepare.
3c) Keiji wakes up in small home. He hears music playing.
Also voices asking questions. He will have to explore the house to face his trail. And fight an army of possessed dolls followed by the doll maker.
He will discover after winning that the first attempt to redo the seals holding in a demon failed.
The young maiden that was to be sacrificed was set free by the doll maker and fled. He was blamed for it and they planed to execute him the morning after the second attempt.
3d) Kayura gets mistaken for the maiden who ran away. The villagers think she has come back and force Kayura to fight them off.
She is forced to transform. The number of villagers though forces her to do a run and hide tactic to try and deal with their numbers.
Clockwork had woken up on his own and heard the fight. Together they team up and try to drive off the villagers.
Unknowingly Kayura's backpack is stolen during the fight by a villager and she passes over a ward that 'banishes' her armor, leaving her almost totally naked and unable to call on her armor in the village just the sword.
Clockwork helps her break into a house and she is forced to borrow a kimono to wear as it is the only thing not rotted away with age.
4) By now everyone has heard the big fight Kayura and Clockwork were in. They meet up and decide the best way to deal with this is to get rid of the demon. They search for clues and discover where the seal is and go to face it.
5) Clockwork thinks he can banish the demon back to where it came from to set the spirits of the villagers free. They need to distract the demon in a fight.
They fight the demon. Clockwork banishes it with difficulty. They find themselves in the ruins of the village discovering the missing geologists and can go home now.

Japanese horror is always better than western horor, true fact (Test) |
[03 Jul 2011|01:15am] |
A typical week usually didn't end with Kayura researching the deaths of young men. The deaths were very gruesome though so naturally for someone who fought the occult they caught her attention. She was going to walk around as a civilian to get an idea of what she was dealing with exactly.
But it was after dark near the red light district. It made her nervous because sometimes the subdued clothing she wore came off as not to the kinds of people she was trying to protect. But all the deaths had happened very close to here so the little warrior was going to try and save the men who were being attacked.
Tonight she knew it would happen again. It felt like the kind of night a supernatural being would attack. And it really did make Kayura long for her sword and armor but that had to wait until she was sure of what was going on.
Was it a ghost, an ogre perhaps, or perhaps something she hadn't thought of? Whatever it was, it was mutilating bodies and had to be stopped.

Player (nickname, handle)/ LJ: Beth
Email: emadonna04@alumni.unity.edu
AIM (if you have one): chappaiguardian
Character Name: Kayura Yagyu
Character LJ (if applicable): weakerlink
Physical description (face, build, weight): Kayura is a thin and small Japanese woman. Her hair is a slightly lighter shade of brown that is the norm for most people of Japanese decent. She also wears glasses for reading things up close.
When she is in the mystical armor that has been passed onto her she looks physically different. A little more taller and slightly different than she should to act as a disguise.
Age: 22
Birthday: Aug. 1
PB: (If using one.) Ai Takabe
Abilities: Extensive knowledge on Japanese myths, lore, and history. Trained in basic hand to hand combat and she has formal training in kendo as well as knowledge on how to use various bladed weapons. Though it is to be noted that she is no expert in any physical area. Her true area of expertise is in lore and tracking the supernatural, she has a natural knack for tacking and finding both as well as figuring out how to kill it.
When using her armor she is super-humanly fast and strong, about Spider-Man's level for both. The armor also grants her resistance against some magic and the ability to sense when something Isn't Right or is evil. This means she can guard roughly two thirds of what a straight damage spell can do to her. But she has no resistance against illusions of any sort. The ability to sense "not right" things is also active when she isn't in armor and she has a greater sense of when something wicked is coming her way so long as it is magical in origin. The armor comes complete with a sword.
She can also call the armor to her and it replaces her clothing. In order to do this she has to be able to verbally call it with just a word.
The armor itself can not be damaged perminately but as the moon waxes and wanes will determine how much the wearer will be protected from physical blows. The less full the moon is the more protection the wearer gains. When the moon is gone the wearer can only be harmed by magic or in Kayura's case when the armor slips she can be hurt. The armor is also self-repairing and as the moon is less full the armor can repair quicker. For any serious damage it takes two full days to repair, minor damage is gone by the end of one day. But when the moon is full it takes three full days for any damage to fix itself no matter how minor. The closer the moon is to being full adds two hours onto the repair time for major damage and three hours for minor damage.
Weaknesses and flaws: As the armor is meant for a male it can't bond to her and grant her the full power set that it comes with. As it is almost awakened it has an opinion of it's own and will argue with her if she doesn't act with honor.
And because she is a girl the armor can't properly reshape itself to fit her so at inconvenient times pieces will slip out of place. And the armor desires to be used to fight evil so it gives off an aura that attracts evil to her.
And sometimes when transforming out of her armor her clothes aren't there. It's very embarrassing for her. Also due to her build and the fact the armor draws it strength largely from it's user she has to consume a great deal of food, even then after using the armor for more than an hour and a half she is physically and mentally drained and will require several hours of rest to recover.
If the armor were actually to become damaged Kayura would also receive the same damage to her person as she is bonded to it almost fully.
Character location/Home: Tokyo, Japan.
Alignment (villain, hero etc): Hero/ Big Hero 6
Relatives (living/dead?): Seji Yagyu (father, dead), Rei Yagyu (assumed dead), Kenji Yamano (Uncle, living)
Backstory: Kayura is the last in the line of ronin monster hunters. Centuries ago her family was gifted powerful armor by a kitsune who had been acting as a messenger for a good, the kitsune did not reveal who she was the servant of, it was her way of showing thanks to the warrior who protected her from an ogre that would have killed her and stropped the flesh from her bones. The armor itself was enchanted with great power and because of the goodness in his heart and in his family the armor would continue to function for them.
The armor was passed like that from father to son. Only members of the family knew about it and they continued to fight evil for centuries. Then something happened that changed the fate f the armor and the family. Kayura was born. And only she. Her father knew that when he died the armor would pass to her so he did his best to prepare her. He taught her how to recognize different kinds of creatures from folk lore and how to protect herself from them. She was bright and good at it and took to it all like a fish takes to water.
Six months ago her father and mother went on a weekend trip. The car crashed and her father's body was found. She has no idea what happened to her mother but the armor has been calling her and she has no choice to respond. She just hopes Uncle Kenji doesn't think she joined a gang.
How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: A few classic Japanese ghosts are going to be making trouble in down town Tokyo at night. She's going to try and stop them. Or alternatively during the Orochi plot she'll make her apperance as someone who knows things who can also fight. What are you planning to do with this character? I want to see her balance being a college student, getting used to the armor, and slowly getting used to the idea of not being the only weird super hero in Japan.
What do you want to see happen with this character?: Hilarity! And fighting monsters and other outrageous stuff. I also want her coming to terms with not being who she thinks she should be as she has some gender issues due to not being born a male and not being able to bond to the armor fully.
