1. Even her fairly valid opinion of 'amateurs' could not dampen his volunteering enthusiasm.
2. Within a couple of weeks of being pals, she knew the topics of all his mother's books and every governor his uncle had ever lobbied. Not that she was nosy or anything.
3.Sammy was happy to let GK help her with her makeup. Particularly the greens and dark grays that he insisted would be near-invisibility.
4. He would not stop gushing about her mother's hair.
5. He'd sometimes stare a little wistfully at her for a while after a desire to 'Make Dad Proud' registered with him, and wonder what that was like.
