Bloodied Sands
Name:Seth
Bio:

Character Name: Seth Mallory

Age and physical description: He's about thirty, lean and well muscled with a raw edge. Also, a bit shorter than the average male.

Former Deity Name and Pantheon: Set, Egyptian (also called Seth, Sutekh, Setesh, Seteh)

Personality: Seth is antisocial, dark, tempermental, and has a crude mouth. Generally, the only reason people stay in his company for very long is that they have to or he's managing to keep a reign on his more antisocial tendencies. His chief reason for caring about anyone else is if they're useful to him. Otherwise, they don't matter at all and he'd cheerfully kill them given half a reason. The only reason he isn't in jail is that he's got some powerful connections in organized crime and, well, he's so far not left any evidence of any crimes he may or may not have committed that the authorities can tie back to him.
Likes: Getting his way. Random bouts of mayhem. Storms. Himself.
Dislikes: Lettuce. Falcons. Being mocked.
Outward Seeming: Definitely dangerous, even if one isn't quite sure why. His smiles never reach his eyes and it always seems like there's more going on inside of his head than he tries to let on. Most of the time, this danger is covered in a thin veneer of respectability, but that veneer is very thin, indeed.
On the Inside: Seth has absolutely no use for people he deems inferior. Which is most everyone. He knows exactly what he is and remembers his past life with startling clarity. This has led to something of a grudge as he chafes against being stuck in the body of a mortal and longs for his glory days of old. In fact, he's exceedingly bitter about it all. This makes for not the sort of guy you'd really want to get to know though he might be an okay drinking buddy. Or bar-brawler. Whichever.
Quirks: He's the kind of guy who'll stand out on a high point during a storm just to feel the violence and not fear the lightning. He's also the kind of guy who shoots first and never apologizes later.

History: Seth was the son of a construction worker and a fortune teller (don't ask) in New York City. By the time he was sixteen, Seth's father was in prison for killing a guy in a barfight and his mother had gone absolutely gibbering crazy and was committed. The day after his mother was put away, Seth gathered up all the cash his parents had kept around the apartment and skipped out before the government could come "place" him somewhere.

After that, he bounced around various places, variously living on the streets or staying with people he met in exchange for various services (of both the shady and not so shady types). He never stayed anywhere for long. Somewhere between leaving New York and eventually arriving in Boston, he made his way to Egypt for a time, presumably to get in touch with the 'old country'. After making it up to Boston, he somehow managed to fall in with the organized crime there and proved to be pretty damn adept at "breaking kneecaps" and other similar activities. Recently, he's left Boston and ostensibly struck out on his own though picking DC seems an odd choice for him with all the government presence there. If one were to ask him, he might grin and say something to the District's "festering underbelly" and leave it at that. What he's actually doing to make money is a mystery but he seems to do well enough to get by.

Strengths: For all he doesn't look it, being shorter than average and not very bulky, he is very strong and agile and makes for a good fighter (more brawler than fighter as he hasn't had any formal training). He fights dirty and has no compunction about 'cheating' so actually wins often. Can possibly drive people mad. He's cunning with his plans and is pretty much amoral and all of this makes him very dangerous.
Weaknesses: He fights dirty and has no compunction about 'cheating' so people who've seen him fight? Don't trust him. Or rather, don't trust him even more than the people who've merely seen him. He just doesn't strike anyone as trustworthy. Children and dogs tend to stay out of his way. He's got a terrible temper and once he's angry, he's much less likely to think clearly or intelligently. Though he's cunning, he's not necessarily smart, quite capable of letting ego or temper get in his way.

General Deity History: Long ago in the days of old Set was the not only the god of the desert (and sandstorms, and desert caravans) but the chief god, due to his immense power and the fear and respect the ancient Egyptians held for the desert. He became the patron of Lower Egypt and was associated with the color red (and gazelles and donkeys, being that they were creatures who lived at the desert's edge).

Later, as Osiris became more viewed as ruler and Set as the jealous, troublemaking younger brother, conflict tended to arise between them. This culminated in Set chopping Osiris up and feeding him to the fishes. Which would have been all well and good for Set except that Osiris' wife, Isis, put him back together again (or, at least, all the parts that counted) and proceeded to have Osiris' son, Horus. None of this went over well with Set and he and Horus were ever fighting. It's said that Set gouged out Horus' eye (the moon) and Horus returned the favor by emasculating (quite literally) Set.

After this, Set became the god on the fringe, with Horus retaining control of civilization.

It's also said that Set was one of the defenders of Ra, sitting in the sun god's night barque and fighting the demon, Apep, until it was time for day again.

Set was said to have many wives such as: Nephthys, Neith, Amtcheret, Tuaweret, Hetepsabet, and the foreign goddesses Anat and Astarte/Ishtar.

Played By: Jeffrey Donovan

Other Pertinent Info: Seth wears around his neck an outline in red metal of the Set animal. Of course.
