PARTAYY ~ OPEN TO ALL
Glenda pressed her lips together to produce a small laugh, brushing the old wizard's shoulder in front of her in a warm manner as he laughed at his joke. It was a rather amusing story about a niffler and a mackled malaclaw, but the night was starting to wear her down. Any WWN party, whether it be under the façade of a birthday bash or not, was always apart of the public relations machine. Tonight was certainly no exception, though it did give her an excuse to wander (and drink) as much as she pleased. Under that pretense, she gave a quick pat to her new acquaintance and walked off before he had a chance to contest.

There was also this aging business that she couldn't help avoid either. Turning older when she already felt ancient was a strange feeling; it felt doubly so every time another announced her general youth. Twenty-three and already so popular! Twenty-three with such a name! Twenty-three, what a bright future laid ahead! They all conveniently forgot to realize that she was still twenty-two, and really nothing of their kind words made any sense to her, but what could she do if they wanted to tell her these things? It was good that she had perfect her smiling and nodding years ago.

This party wasn't all that bad, honestly. The WWN had actually invited some of her old friends, in addition to people she was sure she had never met in her life, but that didn't bother her. It was.... nice. And a bit frightening. Well, frightening for the prospect of one person, which Glenda still wasn't sure if she was actively or passively avoiding after all these months without knowledge of whether or not he was even here... it did not matter! She was an adult. They were adults, there was no reason why---

Merlin he was here. There he was! Was she losing feeling in her legs? Feeling very much caught, Glenda stood frozen, even unable to think of going about executing a quick get away. Maybe he wouldn't see her, or felt just as awful as she had been feeling and would continue to prolong their eventual remeeting! That was a pretty awful thing to say about your best friend, wasn't it?

Octavius!

In her heart, Rose hadn't an ounce of interest in attending this party. Her sickening fear of further Catapults punishment had effectively curbed any appeal that there had ever been in going out to be seen in public, an event like this with so many cameras was an anxiety-inducing sight. So many opportunities for there to be some incriminating picture, despite her lack of incriminating actions... but there really wasn't anything she could do about that. Eerily similar to her unstable job position, yes?

A depressing, heavy feeling sank deep in Rose's stomach at that last thought, her internal admittance of her all-but-official forgoing left her feeling dark. She did have her teammates and her friends, who had been energetically supportive about all this, to thank, but now it just felt useless. And more stressful. It had gotten to a point where she wasn't really sure what panicked her more, Carys helpful yells across the pitch, or the very ominous blacked-out management box high in the sky.

But, in the end, no matter how green she felt tonight, Rose did not want to force Octavius to attend alone, or worse, upset him more than she repeatedly had in the past few weeks. It was not hard, after her long periods of recent self-reflection, to realize, or at least feel, that she had been a rather inattentive and selfish girlfriend as of late, which made her feel worse--- it was all changing, everything was changing. And, yes. So she was going to deal with it, continue to deal with all this, and be good and not--- dumb.

"So tell me more about this invigorating hippogriff race," Rose prompted, taking the time to wrap her arm around his as they walked through the room. She had seldom left Octavius' side the night so far, and doubted she could if she tried.

Victoria had been told she should come to this party in order to make sure that it was clear there was no animosity between herself and any other Quidditch players that she might've been dating before (as if there had been more than one, really). It wasn't something she disliked, going to events like these, and now that her family was wrapped up in their own Quidditch-related shenanigans, she'd at least be able to see her sister and her brother (if her knew what was good for him) at the party.

She wiggled her toes in the restricting shoes she'd decided to pick up and then frowned, glancing down at her feet. When she looked up again, she spotted a mop of curly hair that was actually vaguely familiar. She might not have remembered much of the last big Quidditch bash she'd gone to, but she remembered the quiet man that she'd taken a break next to. Maybe tonight wouldn't be a bust after all.

She moved behind him and tapped his shoulders gently before sliding around to set herself in front of him.

"I think you're the last person I expected to see here. Did your agent force you out here, too?"

"Ah--"

Iwan straightened, reminding himself he shouldn't slouch because it looked unappealing. His face reddened as the woman, Victoria, faced him, and he shrugged uncomfortably. Of course he had been forced to come here. Ludo was very strict on how the PR of the team was handled, and apparently Glenda was a friend of his? Iwan had said a polite happy birthday, letting her know that she looked very pretty and that was that.

Did he have to stay for the cake?

Maybe not, but now he at least had to stay to speak with Victoria. That meant asking her how her child was, how was pre-season training going...much more talking than Iwan ever wished to do. He averted his eyes around the party in a fleeting moment of hoping she'd get distracted by something or someone more interesting, but that was a futile move.

"Yes," he affirmed with a nod. Iwan realized he could technically end the conversation there, but he forced out, "How a-are you?"

Well, he was saying more to her than he had pretty much the whole evening she'd awkwardly sat next to him the first time, so that was an improvement. She was sure he had to be an anomaly among quidditch players, someone who didn't like to carry on about himself -- or carry on at all, really -- and that made her intensely interested.

"I'm okay, I guess. I think I'm one of the few people who actually enjoys the off-season, but I get more time to spend with Ava. It's a lot less exhausting being just a mom than trying to be a mom and a famous quidditch player." She glanced around. "Although we're not off the hook for PR opportunities, I guess. Henry's usually pretty good about not signing me up for anything weird." Unless she specifically asked him to, like when it came to helping out underprivileged farm animals.

She hadn't realized it until recently, but finding a reasonably fancy dress that didn't clash horribly with her golden hand was extremely difficult. She'd made an executive decision, therefore, to decide that all the metallics at once would just have to start being acceptable. It was Gleny's party, after all, and she would never miss an event that revolved around her friend even if they were no longer as close as they had been.

She knew that was her fault, really, and she felt badly about it. She smiled cheerfully as she could and fiddled with the cuff of her glove, glancing around for either Gleny or ... someone else that could entertain her. It had been her sister to push her out of the house, and if Jinty could tell that she needed to get out more, there was a serious problem. She'd missed a new clutch hatching for this, so she was determined to make the most out of the evening.

Edward!

She had something very important to tell Edward. Graciela could have told him at home, in the warmth of his arms, but she had decided that maybe it was time for a little fun, and she made sure she was dressed up and looking her prettiest. She knew that Edward would not care if she were wearing a potato sack, but sometimes a girl liked to look nice, and she liked to tease her boyfriend.

Boyfriend, her boyfriend. The word did not seem to encompass how she really felt about Edward. She wanted to spend the rest of her life with this man, she wanted to have children with him, she wanted to have his babies. That was more than a boyfriend, but she was too nervous about ruining all the beautiful things they had together to make a move for the next step. She had promised herself that she would not jump into things like she had with Alex, but it was getting harder and harder not to admit her ache for more children, and for her last name to be changed to Pennifold.

Maybe, maybe, her surprise would make things more obvious to Edward. He was a very logical man, and maybe it was straight to the point that he would understand that she was ready to take this next step. Graciela knew he was in a strange situation; she had been married before, she had a child, but she wanted him to know that she'd never really felt like this for anyone, that---

"You look very handsome," she said, interrupting her own thoughts as they danced. Graciela smiled and pushed up on her toes to kiss Edward fully.

But it was her that out shown him! Graciela's beauty struck Edward, it always had, but since they had known each other for so long, he hadn't hardly been able to appropriately state that to her until their more recent years. It made him immensely happy that he could, now, not only because he felt that she needed to know every second of everyday, but because it was what he thought, and one should never keep ones emotions and thoughts locked away for all time. How would anyone ever connect with people? Getting things off your chests, he constantly told his writers, was one of the keys to inspirational success!

"You are, as always, incredibly beautiful," he smiled, leaning in toward her to steal another kiss. There was absolutely nothing Edward wanted to change about his life, right now. Everything had fallen into place, practically perfectly especially for someone like him who appeared to be socially challenged sixty percent of the time. There was nothing more he could want, nothing more he would want, and this image of the two of them dancing among friends and colleagues was one Edward never wanted to forget, or end.

"I am very happy right now," Edward said suddenly, feeling it was very important to say at this moment. "You are too, aren't you?" It also never hurt to check. He held onto Graciela tight, interlacing one of his hand's fingers into hers as they swayed.

He made her heart run, race, whatever the correct phrase was. Graciela's eyes shone with the excitement of just being in his arms, and she felt herself grow warm at his compliment and his admittance of happiness. It was so wonderful to be the reason for someone's joy, it was a feeling she had once thought she'd never have again. Edward was a Godsend, Graciela had never imagined she would be so lucky to find someone who fit so perfectly into her life, into Zacharias', but here he was, and so very willing to be in it.

"I am the happiest I have ever been," Graciela said, breathless even though they were not moving fast at all. Her mind was nearly wiped clean save for Edward's smile, though it was more his lips that had captivated her attention. She gripped onto his hand and hoped that the song would not end. She let her mind wander and get lost in Edward and her thoughts, but she a turn she was reminded of her earlier thoughts. Graciela managed to push closer to him, hopefully being discreet enough for their rather public positions, and lowered her voice.

"I have a surprise for you," she said, smiling broadly, "I have decided on a dedication for my book." Graciela felt so relieved to finally reveal this; Edward knew her superstitions, her book was not finished until she gave it to someone in that particular sense. It was the final piece of her writing process, it was the sign that she was proud and sure of her work.

"Would you like to hear it?"

Seth was beginning to wonder just when he started dreading parties instead of relishing in them. Actually he knew the answer to that. He hadn't truly enjoyed a party since Leanne, and nothing compared to his days on the United. He let out a sigh as he took a sip of his drink. Some days he really regretted taking that trade offer, he really could backtrack his downward spiral to that moment. Not to mention it really sucked that he burned so many bridges with practically the whole team.

Whatever, point was that parties weren't as fun anymore, especially now that they were part of PR and he still had a role to up hold. He hardly knew anyone here, and he didn't bring a date. At least he was able to drag Michal along, who spent half the time pestering him about his new 'girlfriend', which she wasn't, she was just a friend that he happened to go out with every once and a while; then disappeared the second a couple of gorgeous women walked by.

He turned away from the bar, setting a goal to go find someone to converse with so he wouldn't be seen as anti social for the entirety of the time he spent at the party. He was distracted by he thought was someone calling his name when he walked right into someone spilling the contents of his drink on both of them.

"Shit. Sorry I wasn't even ---" he stopped short when his eyes landed on just who he had ran into. Of course, of course it would be her. It always happened like this. Just enough time would pass that he could almost forget about her, and then because fate hated him, she was throw right back in his face. See just what you fucked up. Such a pattern in his life. "Sorry, I didn't see you there." he said again quickly, he wasn't in the mood for a fight, nor in anyway prepared for one.

And she had been having such a nice, dramatic-free evening so far. Dancing, drinking, eating, taking pictures-- it really just had all been very nice. Nothing to worry about in particular, except when would be the most appropriate time to go home. But that was all ruined now with the appearance of Him.

What was he even doing here! The party had nothing to do with quidditch, Seth certainly didn't know half the people here like she did, thank you very much, and it--just--- why!

Mira felt her body tense up, already forgetting that it looked like she had drunkenly dribbled all over herself. Mustering anything but a tempered glare was difficult. Thank Merlin for magic or else Seth would be dealing with an entirely different kind of ruined-dress rage.

And! And! She didn't believe him. Of course she didn't believe him. What was the total count of 'accidental' run-ins now? Far too high for every single one to be a coincidence. Mira was just about to give him a piece of her mind when she looked up at Seth, and realized she really did not want this altercation. But she most certainly could not give up so easily! So, instead, Mira quickly buried her chin, conveniently remembering about her dress.

"Sure," she grumbled, brushing off herself with intention to do so before actually pulling out her wand to fix her front.

Seth bristled a bit at her tone, he could tell she didn't believe him. He couldn't help rolling his eyes. He contemplated finishing off his what was left of his drink, but instead dropped it on the empty tray of a passing waiter.

"Some spilled on your shoes too." He said gesturing vaguely. "I know how fond of that pair you are." What he should do is just walk away. Right now, just turn and leave. Merlin, Henry was going to murder him if this turned into some sort of scene but he couldn't make himself move away so instead he just pulled out his wand to clean off her shoes.

He couldn't help but look her over as he tucked his wand back into his robes. "You look nice tonight." he said after clearing his throat a bit.

Drea was tingly. Tingly and tipsy and having fun and no one was going to tell her that she was not allowed to have fun, because this was a bloody party, damn it! What else were you supposed to do at these things? Besides, she wanted to see how far she could push things before the press in attendance went BALLISTIC and had to bring work into the equation.

So she was pushing it...sorta. She found herself sitting at the bar, flirting with the tender and trying to appear mysterious and intriguing to those around her. She pushed herself up out of the bar stool--and ran straight into someone behind her.

"Oh! Oh shit, I'm--I'm really sorry about that!" she said hastily, grabbing onto his shoulders to steady herself from falling. "Are you alright?"

Jeremiah had definition of fun, one that Drea would probably have a completely hard time understanding. He most certainly knew who she was, being from the same house and year it would be hard not to know who she was. Especially since they played on the Hufflepuff house team together. She was definitely easier to handle-- get along with when they were in school.

"Drea." he said his hand going out to catch her at her waist should she fall, unsurprised that she ran into him in the first place. Here he was going to get his first and probably only drink of the night and she was already stumbling. Typical. If she were a Wasp he'd be lecturing her about the merits of setting a proper image for their team, but she played for the Arrows and obviously they didn't care what sort of image they set. "I think I should be the one asking if you are alright."

She let out an excited squeal as she realized who she'd stumbled into and threw her arms around him. "Jeremiah!" she said excitedly before pulling herself away from the quick embrace. Drea very much enjoyed catching up with old friends, and that feeling was only multiplied when she was under the influence.

"I'm having fun, of course I'm alright!" she replied happily. Her previous destination was totally forgotten at the appearance of her old classmate, and she balanced herself back on the barstool before patting the empty one next to her.

"How have you been?" she asked curiously, nodding at the bar tender's inquisitive stare and hand hovering over a glass. As if it were a question, of course she was going to have another drink with her new-found company!

"Fun." Jeremiah repeated a bit derisively as he took the empty bar stool next to her. At the very least it would interesting.

"I've been well enough. This change with the season has messed with my vacation plans just a bit, but now that the season start is only a week away, I'm excited." He looked around the room spotting the other quidditch players. "How about you? Anything going on that I haven't already read about in the papers?"

She smiled, wondering what sort of vacation plans he'd had made up that got squandered. Drea had never done lots of world exploration, but between her dislike of apparition and her ability to have fun so close to home...it had never become a priority.

She shrugged. She knew that the only thing the press saw her as was a drunken whore, so anything he'd read in the papers likely had nothing to do with things that really happened in her day to day. But maybe it was better that way; she didn't have to worry about them prying through things. "New teammates, trying to figure out the dynamics of the Arrows for this season," she said calmly.

"But you've probably already read all of that. OH! Dom and Em had another baby in March...proud aunt for a third time!" The excitement in her voice was palpable during that last statement. She didn't know if she would ever have children of her own, but she loved to spoil her brother's babies. They kept her...grounded, in a way, during family functions. "Angelina is getting so big, too. Nearly six years old and already a pro on her trainer broom."

Jeremiah couldn't help but smile at the mention of a baby. He loved children, so much so that he willing put up with Seth Wadcock to volunteer with his charity organization (that he didn't believe for a second he came up with on his own). Being an only child, he didn't have any nieces or nephews of his own, so he was just a little bit jealous of Drea. "Boy or girl?" he asked taking a sip of his drink.

"I hope she's flying on a Nimbus, they are the best you know." he said with a small smirk not able to help himself. It is after all what he started out on.

"Another boy," she replied with a smile. "He's so cute, too." She laughed at his comment about Angelina's broomstick. "You know, I'm not entirely sure if it's a Numbus or not, but I'll be sure to fix that if it isn't."

She let out a content sigh, before turning to stare at him. "So! You said...you had vacation plans, right?" Drea asked cautiously, hoping she wasn't misremembering. "Or...there were some before the switch up?" Drea wasn't exactly pleased with the shortened off season either, but she hoped that it was only for this season and things would settle down for the future.

"Let me know and I'll get you a good deal." Jeremiah said with a grin.

He swirled the contents of his glass with the straw. "Ah, yes vacation. I was going to go to Budapest. I was up for an exotic adventure but alas. Not all is lost though, I usually only leave town because I get to bored during the off season. What about you? New schedule ruin any plans for you?"

"I know all about exotic adventures," she replied, a wicked grin on her face, as all her decent thoughts and random inklings of buying her niece a new broom went out the window. She downed her drink in an attempt to crush any remaining amount of nerves that may try and poke up in this situation. The bartender, of course, went right to work on mixing her a new drink (this boy was going to get a big tip from Drea for sure, especially if he remembered this courtesy every time).

"Not really. I usually find things close to home to keep off the boredom during the off season," she replied with a shrug. It wasn't as if her schedule and personal preferences weren't obvious to others; surely everyone in the wizarding community knew by now that Drea Johnson liked to party and fool around. "Besides, we've got first bye week this year, it's as if the Arrows have drawn a winning lottery ticket in easing into the season."

"So do you think the Wasps have a chance at the cup this season?" she asked curiously, taking a sip of her new drink and leaning in closer to him.

It had taken him approximately two weeks into the Grand Tour to tell Derek about his time in the loo with Gleny. Vinny himself had been mortified that he'd allowed himself to get drunk enough to accost his friend like that, but then Derek had to go and be proud of him for it. Happy, even! What did that even mean? Vinny didn't have feelings for Gleny, not like that, not that---she was beautiful, inside and out, she was a constant in his life, she...

He didn't have feelings for Gleny. That would be wrong, it would be wrong, and he'd taken advantage of how amazing she'd looked that night, he'd taken advantage of her level of intoxication and Merlin why was he even here? It would have been worse if he hadn't shown up, the public knew of their friendship, they knew that Gleny was one of the most important people in his life, it---why did she have to look so bloody fantastic?

Of course he couldn't avoid her all night. They'd both done a rather good job of it these past two months, but it couldn't have gone on forever. Vinny stopped and stared, an involuntary grin sliding onto his face at the sight of her. She was Gleny, after all. His hand reached into his pocket to latch onto the gift he'd brought for her, and it gave him a burst of courage. He had to talk to her and fix this.

"Happy birthday," Vinny said as he made his way to her, standing a good arms-length distance from her.

She going to have a heart attack. She was going to have a heart attack, and die. Yes. That was exactly what was going to happen. It would come any second now, with how positively uncomfortable she felt, how suddenly hot and cold it was, and how heavy her legs felt. She--- it--- there--- was that sweat stinging her eyes? What was happening? This was utterly miserable! No wonder she had avoided him for so long!

As he approached, her heart spazzed. It was Vinny, Vinny! It made her even more upset to think that this was all over him. Gleny did not want to feel so anxious, so like this around him. It hadn't--- she couldn't remember the last time any event in her life had created such emotions and feelings quite on this level. It was just--- his friendship meant so much, it was one of the most important things in the world to her, and to potentially ruin it because she had been... pathetic and drunk was unacceptable! In a quiver of nervousness, Gleny ran her hands through her hair to pat it down.

"Thank you," she squeaked, her mouth also twitching into a small smile. No matter how anxious this conversation made her, it would never change the genuine happiness and comfort Gleny felt about him. Maybe this wouldn't be that bad? She felt the time to initiate further conversation pass, and with an awkward jolt she spoke again.

"You're back from your trip!" she offered, extending a general hand slightly out toward his direction.
