Test scene [28 Aug 2012|11:21pm]
He did not remember it being this difficult to visit the Fantastic Four. But then again he used to come with his mother and sister and they'd have Lockjaw teleport them directly into the headquarters. Somehow there was a vast difference between that and arriving outside the front entrance. Surely this was the right building? But how did one get an audience?

"Goodbye Lockjaw, thanks again. I'll figure this out on my own. It shouldn't be too hard..." Aleron scratches the giant mutt behind the ears and gives him a hug, ignoring the bystanders' staring incredulously at the 800lb dog.

He does figure it out...over the course of a half hour. First of all, why were all these people coming and going in not the Fantastic Four he knew but what seemed like ordinary citizens? And just what level did he need to take that fascinating elevator too? And where was the team?

Luckily some of the residents do help out the clearly lost looking young man, they were used to strange visitors in this building. Just most didn't take the front entrance. Though the 71st floor and the F4's reception area wasn't any less confusing. Where was the person who's job it was to be here? Surely they couldn't have taken a more inopportune-"Hello, welcome to the Fantastic Four Headquarters. Please state your name and business."

"Oh! I'd almost forgotten all the mechanics you people had around here. I am Aleron and I've come to visit. I do think someone here will remember me even if it has been a few years." The robot receptionist has no expression for him to read and figure out if any of what he's said is clear. "Umm...Aleron Maximoff of the Inhumans. Of Attilan? ...Perhaps there's a file on the royal family?"

He swears this was easier when he was a kid.

NextGen Application

Player (nickname, handle)/ LJ: Sands

Email: on file

AIM (if you have one): see above

Character Name: Aleron Maximoff

Character LJ (if applicable): unseenpowers

Physical description (face, build, weight): 5'11, platinum blonde hair, blue/green eyes, lean build

Age: 23

Birthday: January 15

PB: (If using one.): Gerhard Freidl

Abilities:

Exposure to the Terrigen Mists lent him gravity controlling powers. He can both increase and decrease the effect of gravity on an object or area of his choosing. The number of effects he can maintain are limited, as it's easier to keep one effect for a long time or over a long area than multiple different effects. The control of gravity's effect on himself is a more innate control which he needs little concentration to maintain most of the time as long as the effect is evenly distributed throughout his body. If he decides to increase the gravitational force acting on a downward punch, he needs the same concentration to do so as he would if he was affecting an object nearby and not part of him. He does manipulate the force of gravity on his limbs when engaged in hand to hand combat to inflict maximum damage.

Aleron can 'fly' or 'float' using these gravity abilities (he can also sink or fall faster if he would like).

Was trained in basic combat skills during his Inhuman education and received some lessons from Karnak during his years in Attilan. He is by far not an expert or on par with anyone who can call themselves a martial artist, but he can hold his own against a reasonably skilled opponent. His style concentrates on packing powerful attacks using gravity, usually aiming for more downward ones.

Weaknesses and flaws:

He may technically be almost a baseline human, though he has slightly better reaction time and stamina than humans, but he grew up mostly in Attilan and the cleaner environment the Inhumans are used to. Because of this his immune system isn’t as developed as most humans (though still better than most Inhumans as he can take pollution better than them) he often comes down with minor sicknesses on earth. Colds, fevers, coughing, sniffles, you name it, he has one of them for most of the year. Which is a little frustrating for him.

Outside of personal gravity effects, the duration and strength of any gravitational effects depends upon his concentration. The larger the change in gravity and area/weight of what it is affecting, the more concentration needed. Once a gravity effect is started, it will not continue on by itself, he must constantly maintain it, therefore he is limited by how many different ones he can have at once. Having multiple different small effects on parts of his surroundings is much more taxing than having one effect over a larger area. His control over how gravity affects him is much harder to disrupt, as he has much for practice and the effect takes less concentration. The farther an object or select area where he wants to change the gravitational force is, the more concentration it requires and the more difficult it is to affect.

Character location/Home: Attilan (former), Baxter building

Alignment (villain, hero etc): Hero

Relatives (living/dead?): Luna Maximoff (sister, living), Pietro Maximoff (father, living), Crystalia Amaquelin (mother, living), Eric Lensherr (grandfather, living), Wanda Maximoff (aunt), Lorna Dane (aunt, living), Blackagar Boltagon (uncle, living), Medusalith Amaquelin-Bolotgon (aunt, living) (and so on…it’s a big family. Add the Inhumans Royal family members, Magneto’s family, etc)

Backstory:

Crystal and Pietro had a rocky marriage, and while they split up before Aleron was born, it didn’t stop the on/off relationship from continuing. One of their reconciliations led to the birt of Aleron, but didn’t keep the couple together for long after, and they split again. Like his sister Luna, it seemed at birth he was pretty much a baseline human, the genetics of the Inhumans and mutants cancelling each other out. But he didn't let that knowledge bother him. The boy was still put in an Inhumans school where, upon graduation he would have the chance to experience terrigenesis. And he entirely banked on that. Luna and Aleron still saw their father occasionally during their childhood and would often visit Earth to see his side of the family and visit with their mother the human team she was once on; The Fantastic Four. Despite concerns about putting an essentially baseline human into the mists (it was argued that his sister had survived them without becoming an Alpha Primitive (which would have been quite the scandal for the royal family)), Aleron was allowed to be exposed to them after his graduation. Luckily for all, it worked, and he developed powers, though rumours surfaced because of this suggesting he wasn't as entirely baseline human that they realized or that he wasn't the child of Pietro (which was shot down and proven quite false).  Constantly bored by royal politics (he spent a lot of his childhood playing with his sister, lockjaw, and aunt Lorna when she came) and frustrated by how confining Inhuman society could be,  Aleron asked his mother if he could move to the Inhuman complex on Earth to experience some of their world. Understanding some of his frustrations, (and seeing that his indecisive nature made it hard for him to conform to Inhuman society rules) Crystal let him and convinced the council it would benefit the Inhumans to understand humans more. So Aleron went to earth, planning on going to New York and seeing if the Fantastic Four can help him with experiencing the culture in more depth.

(If/when Angel's app goes through: While his mother married Ronan the Accuser, who turned out to be a very decent guy to young Aleron's surprise, Aleron never quite warmed to him as a father figure. He already had a father, but the young man still got along with his step father, learning Kree from him and some of the culture. Despite this marriage, the children grew up mostly in Attilan, which Aleron vastly prefered, While his younger half-brother eventually left to be trained as a Kree warrior, Aleron spent a few years after his graduation in Inhuman military training before coming now to Earth.)

While he has visited Earth many times before, these visits were never very long, and his exposure to earth customs and culture is selective and limited. But from what he has seen, he's fascinated by it and constantly wants to try new things. Because his exposure to a lot of the culture comes from television and movies, he often leans towards eating food, trying activities, and wearing brand clothing he has seen from there. Though he will learn that TV isn't exactly the most accurate source of information, and neither are his parent's stories of their adventures.

How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: Now that he’s on Earth, he wants to go visit the F4 like he used to as a child and see if they have an opening and can help him experience Earth.

What are you planning to do with this character? Join F4, plots, shenanigans and all

What do you want to see happen with this character?: He knows some of human culture, far more than most Inhumans, but he’s still figuring how things work exactly, and relies on television and stories to figure out how to fit in. Plan is for him to learn more about being human and to maybe explore the freedom human society gives him that the Inhuman one doesn’t
