Name: Andromeda Black

Age/Birthdate: 28th December, and as a 6th year she'd be 16 (or 17 if we're starting in Feb)

Blood: Pureblooded. She's a Black.

PB: Evan Rachel Wood (mostly blonde, but occasionally brunette)

Basic Personality: Andy is the middle sister and buffers the family, she is calm, relaxed and a bubbly blonde like Cissa most of the time, however when angered her features literally darken (Tonks' metamorphagus traits came from somewhere) and she turns brunette like her older sister and this is when she is most dangerous. Andy's temper can turn in an instant, but she is good at keeping it calm, and I doubt that anyone except her sisters and possibly cousins have seen the worst of it.

From the lexicon I have found that Tonks' changes first happened when she felt extreme emotion, going back one mutation and generation to Andromeda the change is still obvious but it isn't crazy colours and she doesn't have any control over it, it's only when there's enough adrenaline coursing through her veins that a hormone is triggered and the change happens.

I suppose this then ties into her temper, the best explanation I think would be an example: when someone is giving their opinion on something, perhaps that Dumbledore is only trying to hurt the school by insisting everything carries on as normal while a war rages outside the walls, while Andromeda's opinion is that Dumbledore is merely trying to keep the school running calmly and normally, but person 1 doesn't listen let alone accept or comment on Andromeda's view and is so set in their ways, the wave of anger she feels towards them would be the start, the initial annoyance, and normally if she was left the anger would dissipate and she would be fine. However if a number of these sort of event happened to her eventually she would crack and I doubt that her conscious mind would know what she was doing while in the extreme rage - she might hex and curse, or tear apart a room, it all depends on the surroundings and people involved. But as I said in the original app, I doubt that anyone outwith the family has seen it - the Black's are very private after all.

From my reading of the canon text Bella seems to have some deep anger within her that fuels her actions while Cissa is more gentle and accepting, my idea was that Andromeda would be somewhere in the middle, mostly a gentle girl but somewhere buries within was that crazy streak, more reminiscent of Bella torturing the Longbottoms than delicate Cissa who cares deeply for her family and worries each time Lucius goes out with the DE's.

History: Growing up the girls were mainly looked after by governesses and house elves, and had little contact with their parents until they had reached an age where they could behave correctly. Then they were allowed to attend dinner and functions and be presented as proper young ladies. They live in the Black mansion in the countryside of England, though they regularly visit Auntie Walburga in London as they have to get all their schoolbooks and keep in with the family line.

Growing up the girls were close, not just because of the sibling factor, or that they were stuck together all the time, because they do have a deep connection and bond that links them. They get on well and used to play nicely, and while there were always the odd fights the made up. Bella was always slightly different because of her dark hair, compared to the two younger blondes, she used to call Andy and Cissa her two little princesses, Andromeda loved Bella and looked up to her, for wisdom, advice, everything and loves her very deeply, and so I suppose it is one of Andromeda flaws that she is blinded by Bella's façade and doesn't know about her dealings with the DE's. Bella used to read them all stories from papa's books in the great library, and that's where Andromeda became fascinated with words and books and learning, it was an escape from the world of Black, with the entire family and all the pressures that being a Black girl had, she could escape into books and learning and forget. The library also brought her closer to her father, who was upset with 3 daughters having wished for a son to continue the line. Her father enjoyed having ones of his daughters interested in learning and encouraged her to read more and write - something that the sorting hat picked up on. Andromeda was always the quieter, more reserved daughter and though she enjoys socialising she prefers to talk about a book or specific subject rather than the weather or which Bulstrode will marry Derby Lockheart in the forthcoming spring.

Hobbies: Andy enjoys reading mostly, it keeps her out of trouble and increases her knowledge base, and she will read anything, from dark spells to trashy muggle romance novels (IC - they're pretty good actually!). She also likes to socialise, go shopping for new robes and accessories as well as just relax with a cup of tea and chat with her friends.

Patronus: a peregrine falcon

Boggart: Seeing herself with nothing, no money, or house or family, or anything.

Pet: Holly, a grey owl with brown speckles.

Character Information - School

Desired occupation:Experimental Charms Witch with the Ministry - testing charms (inc. the unforgivables) to see their true extent.

House: Ravenclaw

Classes: Potions, Transfig, Charms, Ancient Runes, History of Magic, Astronomy

What if?

Has anything changed about your character?: As a Black she should be a Slytherin, but I have always thought she would do better as a Ravenclaw, which would also bring her closer and more accessible to Ted Tonks, though in this universe anything could happen and their chance meeting may not happen and she would never be blasted from the tree on leaving home.

How do you feel that would affect his/her relationships?: She'd be more open and willing to talk to those from others houses and I've never seen her as one of the hoitytoity type Black's who look down their nose at everyone, although she may be more likely to marry who she is supposed to.
