Age and physical description: 20; Tucker stands at five feet, eleven inches. Though, to be far, he just says he is six feet tall. His hair is brown, and his eyes are green. Tucker has no desire to be as physically fit as Jack, his brother. When together with Jack, they look enough alike that people are surprised to learn Tucker is adopted. He has no tattoos, and typically wears jeans and tee-shirts when not in uniform.

Former Deity Name and Pantheon: N/A; Mortal Only

Personality: Upon first meeting Tucker, he seems is easy going and not overly fussed by most things. He likes to charm his friends and love interest with a smile and compliment. He is prone to humor when he is uncomfortable, and pleased tell a joke when asked. But he can be somewhat reluctant to talk about some things, opting to be vague about anything that is bothering him unless prompted to be more in-depth. He has few close friends, but he is friendly enough with most everyone he meets.

Despite outward appearances, however, Tucker deals with very painful demons. Child-abuse at the hands of his maternal Grandparents has left him with several deep emotional scars that he has yet to come to terms with. He regularly struggles with depression and anxiety disorders that are directly related to the child-abuse. He also has a deep anger and bitterness directed toward his mother, grandparents, and even his adoptive family. As a result of this he is not close to anyone in his family. He often refers to his family by their first names. He will occasionally alternate between using his mother’s name and ‘mother’, and his maternal grandparents he often out-right refuses to speak of.

When pushed to answer questions concerning his past, Tucker becomes extremely anxious, often pushing away and trying to avoid the subject. Should he continue to be pushed his anxiety increases and he often lashes out in anger and withdrawing from the conversation all together. He also suffers extreme anxiety from having to make complex choices- such as joining the Navy, or where to move. The anxiety increases when others are involved in the choice in some way. He becomes focused on not choosing the wrong thing, and possibly disappointing others around him. He is prone to pleasing others in order to gain their favor, or approval without much concern for himself. The disapproval of others, particularly those that he has a strong connection with, will often trigger anxiety.

His depression, however, is something he expresses a strong denial of. He often tries to present a cheerful outward appearance, preferring that people are not overtly aware of when he his down. At times he is overly reliant on others to make him feel better, though this is not a very effective method. He has self-medicated for depression with alcohol (and thus become a functioning alcoholic.) Tucker’s depression is not officially diagnosed due to his adamant refusal to seek help. While not suicidal, Tucker often withdraws from others during the worst of times. He is prone to insomnia, and listlessness- both of which increase dramatically with the more free time he has. And while he does not have an eating disorder, he does experience a loss of appetite from time to time with episodes. His depressive states would be classified as “Major Depressive episodes” and will often last up to two or more weeks. Alongside the insomnia, listlessness and loss of appetite, he experiences a feeling of self-worthlessness, and difficulty concentrating on things. He also occasionally focuses on death, with a ranging curiosity as to what effects his death would have on those around him- often ending with the thought that no one with either care or notice.

Outside of the depression and anxiety disorders, Tucker has low self-esteem. He has trouble accepting compliments, often refuting them as quickly as they are given, or reacting skeptically. He often tries to conform to behavior he believes people desire him to display, and seeks to ‘fit in’ while often concerned with the idea that he is not, in fact, accepted by those around him.

History: Born Tucker Abel Sumter to his single mother, Heather Sumter. His mother spent most of his early life in and out of jail of hooking and rehab centers for alcohol and drugs, leaving him in the care of his maternal grandparents most often. There he was subjects to physical and emotional abuse, his grandmother often accusing him of being the living embodiment of his mother’s sin. He was often in and out of the hospital for numerous injuries. By the time he was nine, Child Protective Services finally stepped in, and Tucker was taken out of his home, becoming a ward of the state of Texas.

It was while in foster care that Tucker came to live with the Donovan’s, who had been looking to adopt but uncertain of many things themselves. They acted as his foster parents for two years (Jack had gone to college by then at the University of Texas in Austin), before they began the process for adoption. They wanted it done before he was too old, or they were. But once he was settled in as Tucker A. Donovan, life seemed to become something of a different story for him. He was educated, forced into making good grades by his adoptive parents, and loved deeply. While it had taken some time to get used to it, Tucker came to really love his new family.

Throughout his life with the Donovan's, Tucker tended to stay in and out of trouble. He was grounded often, but never struck physically. He was given the chance to make his own choices, and received punishment or rewards for his choices. In short, he was starting to understand what a normal life could be like. When he was fourteen, he dated a girl nameed Cindy for a while. With Cindy he found a certain bit of pleasure in drinking alcohol, which became the start for a much larger problem as he grew older. But outside of that, his life was normal. Or, rather, as normal as it could be.

By eighteen, though, he was more than ready to be out of Greenville, Texas. He had wanted to join the Navy, to take part in the war around them. However, after many arguments and frustrated nights, Tucker agreed to go to college first- then the Navy. It was also through Jack’s urging that Tucker applied to George Washington University. He was accepted, and in the fall of 2009, started his freshman year there.

While attending the university, Tucker joined the Navy ROTC on campus (much to the chagrin of his adoptive family), but also gave in to Jack’s pushing and joined Sigma Nu. While in D.C. he lives on campus, and has more than his fair share of college woes at time. On the weekends he sometimes hangs about Jack’s condo, as it is fairly close to campus…but he also has been known to spend the weekends binging at parties with his friends.

Strengths:

Tucker is fluent in English and French, and is currently studying to learn Chinese for the Navy as a Chinese Language Major and Linguistics minor at GWU. He is intelligent, and has a desire to learn that always keeps a book in his hands. He is laid back, and is willing to do a lot to help out his friends.

Weaknesses:

Tucker lacks in any real, close friends. His class grades were not as high as they could have been, and Tucker does not live up to his intellectual potential. He is a know it all, and sometimes rubs it into peoples faces. He is not a physical fighter, but does not lack in snark that often starts a fight.

General Deity History: N/A

Played By: Jackson Rathbone

Other Pertinent Info As Needed: He’s in the Navy, currently attending GWU in the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corp (NROTC). Like his adoptive brother, Jack, he is a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
