Test Scene
Earth was a noisy, confusing world.  The emotions of the people ran hot and often into the negative.  Hatred and fear were everywhere; they were practically the defining factor of a great many lives.  For one who'd grown up with the ability to sense emotions, it was almost deafening.  The meditation exercises her godfather J'onn had taught her were the only thing that kept Jenn from going insane from the weight of it all.  The minds of her people were much more controlled.

Her people.  Her father struck down by poison, her mother assuming responsibility for their people, and her, exiled to this blue planet for her own safe keeping.  The Princess of Saturn could not be risked when insurgents were on the rise.  The royal bloodline must survive.  This was explained to her and she understood it.  Understood, but did not accept it.  She wanted to be back there.  She was the daughter of Jemm, who had united the waring tribes of Saturn.  She did not hide.

But here she was all the same, on Earth, in Star City, seeking her childhood friend, J'anna.  The information available was possible out of date, but it would be a start.  She stood on the doorstep and knocked.  Her psionic abilities provided enough cover, making people unable to notice that she was Saturnian.  She would not call undue attention.

She did not wish to be here, but Jenn, Daughter of Saturn, had no choice.

Jenn nodded. "He survived, but he is not yet recovered. Mother has assumed leadership of the planet."

"Is he going to be okay, Jenn? Do I need to send Dad?"

She shook her head. "Our doctors say it will just take time. And I am not sure mother would allow it. Relying upon your father in times such as these would be seen as a sign of weakness."

"You do remember that my Dad can pretty much be anything and anyone he wants to be, right? Hell, even the way I look is a total fraud. I'm usually....green and Martian."

Jenn nodded. "This is true," she said.

She looked down. "I am supposed to soldier on bravely, J'anna. But right now... I am very afraid."

"Honey, that's normal."

J'anna hugged her.

"Fear is courage."

Jenn held her friend tightly, the gemstone in her forehead glowing faintly.

"Thank-you."
