Former Quidditch Stars to Provide Expert Commentary!

Former all-stars and teammates Finn McLaggen and Martin Boot will be teaming up to provide color commentary during this season's match-ups! McLaggen and Boot spent three years together on the Puddlemere United, bringing home two league cups.

"I'm very excited to get back into the game, even if it's not on a broomstick," McLaggen said to the press. "You couldn't keep me away for long!" Rumors had been swirling that McLaggen was preparing to take on a managerial role, but the former world-class seeker has stated that he'd rather watch and talk about the game than deal with the the business aspect. "That would take out all the fun, wouldn't it?"

Boot is more than excited about coming back to the game. His wife, Nicole Bardera-Boot, is a starting chaser for the Harpies, and providing commentary for their matches is what he's anticipating the most.

"She says I'm not allowed!" he said, causing a great laugh with the journalists. "But I'm going to get in there, don't you worry. How could I not?! I have so many stories to add, it'll be great for the the ratings!"

Both McLaggen and Boot have stated that one of the main reasons for retiring was their family, and that their new positions at the WWN allow them to stay in touch with the game they love so much and give them time for their wives and children.

How do you think these former players will do? Let us know!

First Day of the Preseason!
We're only a day into the quidditch preseason and things are already looking interesting! No, no, we're not going to bore you with logistics and snitch dive speeds---there's other radio shows for that.

Our eyes were glued on the Catapults' pitch, where their lovely-got-a-few-screws-loose captain was spotted wearing a very interesting jersey! Don't worry, it was still that hideous scarlet and neon green combo those folks in Caerphilly love and adore!

So, how was it different, you say? Well, emblazoned on the back was none other than the captain's maiden name of 'Llewellyn,' which was quite the shock for our reporters here! It was a big deal for the legacy player to put her husband's last name on her jersey, so it's only made us wonder...is there trouble in Parkin Paradise?

We'll get to the bottom of this latest development! Share your thoughts in our public journal!

And a brief message before we sign off...
I'd just like to take a moment to wish a very wonderful and happy birthday to my lovely wife, Rachel. I'm aware that she's probably not too thrilled at this very public announcement of this special day, but she deserves the love and praise that I hope comes to her from all of her family and friends.

But if she still finds herself miffed with me, I hope that our weekend getaway to Spain will help my case.

This is Gabriel Corner, thanks for tuning in.

Quidditch Star Kidnapped Mid-Match!
A shocking sight today at Tornadoes Pitch! About thirty minutes into the Tutshill Tornadoes' match against the Appleby Arrows, chaser Maggie Brand disappeared right in mid-air. At first the game continued at its rapid-fire pace but the Tornado players soon stopped the action in concern.

Players disappearing is not a particularly rare occurrence during professional quidditch matches, but investigators at first could not determine where the spell had come from that caused Brand to disappear, and now believe that her broomstick may have been a planted, timed portkey. The match was postponed with the Tornadoes leading 50 - 40, and will be made up later on in the season.

Anyone with information about Brand's whereabouts should contact their local hitwizard authorities with what they know.

World Cup Updates!
"So it looks like the home field advantage is helping the UK's teams out this world cup! England swoops in with a win of 210 to 50 against Bulgaria, and Ireland pulls out an astonishing 320 to 70 against Portugal! The Irish are revved up!

Tomorrow, be sure to listen in as my hubby beats down the Italian National Team as Scotland takes them on! But first make sure to take note on Russia versus France, the two favorites in the tournament.

SO! General public! How's the World Cup treating you so far? Rants and raves can be posted in our translated journal! WWN and Quidditch personalities will be hanging around to commentate!"

Breaking News! Attack on Diagon Alley!
It has been reported that Death Eaters have swarmed Diagon Alley and have taken little mercy on the citizens and workers of the area. Reports began around 1:00 in the afternoon, and have not stopped pouring in. The auror squadron is out in full force along with hitwizards and other security measures have been taken. All entrances to Diagon Alley have been warded off, and the Ministry warns those of you at home to not attempt to get into the alley; it will only cause more harm to those you are searching for.

More news will be reported as this story develops!

ooc: Okay, so reactions can be posted here, plus OOC comments about characters/relatives/NPCs (Characters you may have dropped count!) you might want killed/harmed/kidnapped. Just a quick way to spice things up. Characters can go missing forever or indefinitely, depends on what kind of plot you're looking for!

House Fire Claims Life of Hitwizard, Family also Killed
Early this morning a fire broke out in the home of hitwizard Dimitri Thomas (24), tearing through their Greenwich home within minutes and killing all those inside. A Dark Mark hovered overhead, alerting the Ministry. At first the Ministry wasn't aware that a magical citizen lived in the home, but after further investigation they linked the victims to that of the sixth year veteran of the hitwizard squad.

Thomas was the head of training of new hitwizard recruits, and well revered by his peers. Many weren't aware of his seemingly double life in the muggle world, which included a wife, Gabrielle (24) a school teacher, and young son, Dean Michael (1).

Memorial services will be announced.

Minister Assasinated, Missing Children Rescued
It is a morning of mixed emotions, as late last night it was reported that the Minister for Magic, Corner Conway, was killed while he and his team of aurors rescued the missing ministry children. A battle ensued and there are at least three casualties not including the minister. Evan Rosier, twenty-two, was the death eater that placed the fatal blow on Minister Conway, but was killed shortly after by auror Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody.

All the rescued children are now safely being held in the pediatrics ward of St. Mungo's under heavy supervision. Wizengamot member Millicent Bagnold will occupy the seat of Minister until elections are held in February.

The WWN would like for all those listening to take a moment of silence for the loss our community has suffered.

Attack in Newcastle
Another attack late last night has proved fatal, rising the death toll to five in the past week and a half.

Christopher McLaggen [52] and Melinda Chittock [48] were both found dead in their home, with no visible signs of break in or violence. While Aurors are still on the scene, witnesses have stated that the dark mark was seen hovering over the house earlier this morning. They are survived by their daughter, Glenda Prewett, whose husband famed Quidditch Player for the Prides of Portree was also involved in an attack previous this September.

McLaggen was also the uncle of quidditch star Finn McLaggen, and wizengamot official Tiberius McLaggen, whose new laws have cause quite a flurry in the wizarding community.

Breaking News!
This just in---a wizard has been murdered in the middle of muggle London by what sources say to be a single death eater. Aurors and obliviators were quick to arrive on the scene, and while modifying the memories of the muggles present, gained information.

The victim's name is being withheld while the family is informed, but ministry officials state that the attack is seemingly random. More to come.

Breaking News!
The home of supermodel and fashion designer Psyke Brown was attacked by a rampaging werewolf last night; no word yet on the severity of the attack, though neighbors were alarmed immediately by the noise. BREAKING NEWS -- ATTACK AT HOGWARTS; UPDATE!
"This just in! During today's quidditch match at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, hexes and spells sprung out from the crowd, attacking the players on the field and students in the crowd. Hooded figures were seen moving throughout the students, but authorities are unsure if they are death eaters or not, as a Dark Mark was not sent up into the sky. Students are still being ushered back into the castle, and there is one reported casualty so far, along with many injuries, some critical---we will have more information when it comes.

Concerned parents and family members, please stay tuned to the WWN for updates and reports!"

Here's an update on the Quidditch Catastrophe, Hogwarts is keeping its internal affairs very private until they are completely sure and ready to announce the information to the public

What we know;
- Four students have been pronounced dead after being taken to St. Mungo's: Klio Travers, a seventh year Ravenclaw who had just accepted an internship with the WWN; Ainsley Fielding, a seventh year Hufflepuff and prefect, co-president of the H.A.I.R.S. club along with his twin sister; Christopher Santos, a Slytherin seventh year prefect, a chaser on the quidditch team, and seventh year Gryffindor Thatcher Rhett, who was flying over the pitch when he was struck with a spell.

- The hospital wing of Hogwarts is completely full; if you have not heard from your child, please contact St. Mungo's, as they may have been transferred there. Heads of Houses, prefects, and older students are attempting to respond to all the owls as quickly as possible, but off duty mediwizards and healers are please asked to lend their support.

- No one is to gain access onto the Hogwarts grounds outside of Ministry officials and St. Mungo's staff; family members are to wait in the Three Broomsticks until further notice.

Stay tuned!

ooc: Please comment here! Students were ushered to their common rooms for a head count, it was in the middle of the match between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. If you want one of your students/an NPC'd family member to be part of the plot (hurt, injured, killed) please contact a mod.

Ten to the hour, every hour
In what appears to be a week to end all weeks, another death eater attack has occurred, but this time, from the sky. Owls today delivered hundreds of packages that looked like seemingly normal post, but were soon revealed to be hexed with grotesque hexes and jinxes. St. Mungo's has reported nearly two dozen victims of this attack, and the number is sure to rise by the night. There seems to be no connection between the victims.

Also in St. Mungo's news, the disappearance of a child from the nursery has set the hospital at a heightened state of alert. Anthony Goldstein, a mere three days old at the time of the kidnapping, was taken early Tuesday afternoon as his parents and healers stood not five meters away in a nearby office. His mother, Mackenzie Goldstein, is a healer at St. Mungo's.

The Hogsmeade relief is going as smoothly as possible, the auror office has released. The only building significantly damaged was the Three Broomsticks, and the area outside of its doors. Three people are believed dead, and five are critically injured.

More news at ten to the hour, every hour!
