Short and Sweet Pitch Side Report - Mid Game Kestrels vs. Cannons
"Exciting news from the Cannon's pitch of all places. Looks like Geoffery Brand is back in the game. With his cooperation in helping bring down the game fixing gambling ring, the British and Irish Quidditch League has lifted his suspension. Cannons, always desperate to get decent players on their side of the pitch seemed to think the risk of taking Brand on was worth it.

Though with the Kestrels currently leading 200-0, its doesn't seem that it will be enough to break the Cannon's record long losing streak. Perhaps with a few more practices, Brand and the rest of the Cannons will be able to pull together a team that can compete, but I don't expect much, even Summerby couldn't manage to pull up their tragic win percentage. I'll try to manage to grab a comment from Brand after the snitch is caught, but with the brush off I got before the match, I find it unlikely. This is Charlotte Sweeting reporting live from Kenmare."

Brothers Re-United!
After his tear-jerking plea for help during the World Cup earlier this year, we were all rooting for MATT SUMMERBY to find his long-lost brother. And it looks like he finally has! Let's all have a collective AWWWWW!

We can indeed confirm that this is Matt's younger brother CALEB SUMMERBY, who was adopted fifteen long years ago from the orphanage the two boys were left in after their parents were murdered. What a wonderful ending to a tragic beginning! We're so happy for the two brothers, but some people aren't as thrilled as we here at the Tattler are!

Overheard while on lunch with her brother, DELILAH SPINNET, Matt's girlfriend of nineish months, let her true feelings out about the matter.

"I don't like it. The whole thing is weird," she said of Matt and Caleb's loving and growing relationship. "All of a month of knowing him and he's moving in? It's dumb, right?" Now, now, Miss. Spinnet, that's not very nice! How would you feel if Matt talked about your long-lost brother that way? She was even caught saying that she didn't like Matt's brother, but we're sensing a bit of jealousy?!

"I HATE ALL OF THIS!" See? Super jealous.

"He won't even tell him he's a wizard, let alone this famous quidditch player. I don't even understand."

We don't understand either, Delilah!

Former Quidditch Stars to Provide Expert Commentary!

Former all-stars and teammates Finn McLaggen and Martin Boot will be teaming up to provide color commentary during this season's match-ups! McLaggen and Boot spent three years together on the Puddlemere United, bringing home two league cups.

"I'm very excited to get back into the game, even if it's not on a broomstick," McLaggen said to the press. "You couldn't keep me away for long!" Rumors had been swirling that McLaggen was preparing to take on a managerial role, but the former world-class seeker has stated that he'd rather watch and talk about the game than deal with the the business aspect. "That would take out all the fun, wouldn't it?"

Boot is more than excited about coming back to the game. His wife, Nicole Bardera-Boot, is a starting chaser for the Harpies, and providing commentary for their matches is what he's anticipating the most.

"She says I'm not allowed!" he said, causing a great laugh with the journalists. "But I'm going to get in there, don't you worry. How could I not?! I have so many stories to add, it'll be great for the the ratings!"

Both McLaggen and Boot have stated that one of the main reasons for retiring was their family, and that their new positions at the WWN allow them to stay in touch with the game they love so much and give them time for their wives and children.

How do you think these former players will do? Let us know!

Sumpter announces immediate retirement!

Breaking news that is sure to leave the Wizarding World in a tizzy - West Sumpter, long-time Captain of the Tutshill Tornadoes, has revealed that he will not be returning to the pitch this year!

"It's really just about juggling my priorities," Sumpter explained in a frank interview that he called outside the Tornadoes locker room, "I need to focus on my family. I know I might not look it, but I'm really getting to be quite a daft old man. I'll still be working with the team on a consultative basis, for when the young bucks need a good riding to show them what's what."

Despite Sumpter's cheeky attitude, rumours are flying that Sumpter's long-time partner, Griffith Kirkham, demanded that he retire because of allegations that he had been fraternizing with potential new talent. The question on everyone's mind, though, is who will be selected to replace Tutshill's iconic Captain? They will certainly have grand shoes to fill.

What are your predictions, readers?

First Day of the Preseason!
We're only a day into the quidditch preseason and things are already looking interesting! No, no, we're not going to bore you with logistics and snitch dive speeds---there's other radio shows for that.

Our eyes were glued on the Catapults' pitch, where their lovely-got-a-few-screws-loose captain was spotted wearing a very interesting jersey! Don't worry, it was still that hideous scarlet and neon green combo those folks in Caerphilly love and adore!

So, how was it different, you say? Well, emblazoned on the back was none other than the captain's maiden name of 'Llewellyn,' which was quite the shock for our reporters here! It was a big deal for the legacy player to put her husband's last name on her jersey, so it's only made us wonder...is there trouble in Parkin Paradise?

We'll get to the bottom of this latest development! Share your thoughts in our public journal!

MAGPIES ANNOUNCE NEW CAPTAIN

With preseason beginning this Monday, the Montrose Magpies have only a few days left to announce their starting line-up for the year. While still not complete, and most likely will not be until the earliest Monday morning, a major position has been filled.

Today the Magpies announced the signing of Adrian Mattias, formerly of Puddlemere United, who filling in the role Beater and Captain for the team in the upcoming season.

"It's a great honor," Mattias spoke as the press conference in Montrose earlier this morning.

When asked about how he feels concerning his arrival to Montrose, he simply responded, "I was born in Montrose, and I have been living here for a couple of years now with my wife and children. So I am very honored to be asked home again and hope I will be able uphold the Magpies' tradition of excellence set before me."

Mattias will have big shoes to fill, as both his father and sister, Hamish and Odette MacFarlan, lead the team to championship titles while at the teams' helm themselves.

You can expect to see Mattias and the rest of the Magpies this June at the beginning of the season!

Letter to the Editor
It's been awhile since the Editors here at The Prophet have gotten such a thought provoking letter, especially on such a delicate subject, we couldn't help but publish.

Three years since we have read about Death Eaters in The Prophet. Three years since a publicized attack.

Yet, where is the reward for the Aurors who fought so valiantly to protect us? Not a word spoken of them since either. Instead, more often than not, they are shove aside to desk jobs when they can no longer handle the fieldwork that took so much from them. No longer useful to the M.L.E., the thanks they get is being carefully hidden away so no one has to remember the horrors that once plagued us.

It’s outrageous the lack of credit these men and women get. Sure every Halloween we celebrate the fall of he-who-shall-not-be-named. Celebrate the boy who lived, but Harry Potter was a
baby. Why don’t we celebrate those who were tortured trying everything in their power to stop you-know-who as well? Who gave everything to fight the same fight. The Ministry can’t even do a proper job of helping them cope with the fact the war is over.

This needs to change. The Ministry needs to help our Aurors. We need to help our Aurors. We can’t just pretend the war never happened. We can’t forget those who volunteered to fight for us, because we never know just when we’ll need them again.

What do you think readers? Does this anonymous sender have a point? Or are they exaggerating the apathy towards the Aurors? Does it even help to draw such attention to the war that has been over for years?

Saoirse Mullet, Free Agent

Winning both a league championship and a world championship within the past season alone, it is safe to say that Irish chaser Saoirse Mullet has become one of the most valuable players in the British & Irish League this year.

And, come June this summer, she may very well be flying under different colors other than the Arrow's blue and silver.

Mullet's two-year contract with the Appleby Arrows has ended, leaving one of the league's most talented player up for grabs by any of the thirteen league teams.

With just two weeks left before preseason, it is still unclear where the chaser will end up. No official statements have been made.

Mullet could not be reached for comment.

Breaking News! Comstock Retires?
The Pride has lost one of their stars!

Ollie Comstock, starting chaser for the Pride of Portree, has announced that he will not be joining his team on the pitch this season. His agent, Phoebe Smethwyck, held a small press conference in Venice, Italy, where Comstock is reportedly living at the moment.

"Mr. Comstock has made the very difficult decision to step away from the quidditch pitch. This decision was not made lightly, and our team would like to request respect for his privacy. He wishes his former teammates on the Pride of Portree the best of luck in the upcoming season."

When asked if Comstock was hanging up his broomstick forever, Smethwyck had this to say:

"Never say never. Ollie simply wants time to focus on other things in life, don't think you've seen the last of him."

Snitch! WWN Exclusive!
FINWICK: Good evening every one! Welcome to Snitch! Quidditch Hour! Merwyn Finwick here, and have we got some news for you! With me today in the studio is All-Star, World Cup beater, Miles Lufkin of the Montrose Magpies! How you doing today, Miles?

LUFKIN: I am doing very well! I am still licking my wounds from the World Cup.

FINWICK: It started off well...

LUFKIN: But did not end well! It is fine, we will be back.

FINWICK: Great to hear! Now, I could talk World Cup all day, which we will, but first you stopped by today because you had an announcement to make? Perhaps a new color of jersey? I always said purple and gold looked best on you!

LUFKIN: Merwyn, you are trying to get me in trouble! No, no, I am here today to make a more personal announcement and I--we--would rather Snitch! and the WWN be the ones to get the scoop than that other...source of information.

FINWICK: The-mag-that-shall-not-be-named?

LUFKIN: Hahaha! Perfect! Yes! I would like to use this time to say that my girlfriend and I, the wonderful Miss. Mira Jasper, are expecting our first child together!

FINWICK: Wow! That's fantastic! Congratulations---boy or girl?

LUFKIN: Thank you! We are very excited. And---it'll be a surprise for everyone this summer!

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS LIDDIE LYNCH?

After five solid years of noteworthy presence in the fashion world, designer LIDDLE LYNCH has seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth! Liddie Lynch, pictured above at her Spring 1984 show, has not produced a new line of clothing in over a year, making fashion critics and contemporaries scratch their heads as to where, and why, their talented peer disappeared. Has Liddie Lynch hung up her robes and retired from the fashion world, never to be heard of again? Rumor has it that she has returned to the UK, though even our most avid fashion followers here at the Tattler Offices could not come up with a reason as to why she has not produced anything in the past year, which included two major collection seasons, or where she could have gone.

When owled, no response was sent from the previously-believed headquarters of the fashion house in Austria.

Liddie Lynch is known for pieces that are detail-oriented and push modern wizard wear toward elegant luxury. While more popular with younger generations, she had begun to develop a reputation in the fashion world as one of the next great designers of the century.

Have you seen Liddie Lynch walking down Diagon Alley, fabric in hand? Or, perhaps, has she stepped down to rub elbows with the likes of Madam Malkin ? Owl in your big scoop!

In the meanwhile, check out a couple highlights from Liddie Lynch's last line!
