Blackest Night [16 Jan 2011|01:27pm]

During the events of Blackest Night, Calypso's bond with the Earth became significantly stronger.  The moment she was to be drafted into the Black Lantern Corps, the Earth rejected the essence of the Black Lanterns from Calypso and revived her as the new Earth Elemental.  As the new Earth Elemental, Calypso gained a significant increase in her existing powers as well as the introduction of newer abilities.  Her already superhuman strength is heightened to Class 100+, and her enhanced durability allows her greater resistance to blunt force attacks.  She is comparable to Wonder Woman in these aspects.  Her terrakinetic abilities are magnified to a massive scale, of which the upper limit is unknown.  A new ability Calypso possesses is the ability to speak with the Earth.  By doing this, she can locate and track down people and objects as long as they are nearby the Earth's surface.

Her bond with the Earth grants Calypso with another unique ability.  Although she possesses no psychic powers, Calypso's mind is heavily secured against psychic forces as long as she is standing firmly on the ground.  Like with almost all of her powers, however, this psychic resistance weakens the farther away from the Earth's surface she is.  Calypso still cannot survive outside of the Earth, and she will die if she ever leaves the Earth's atmosphere.  She can be revived, no matter what state her body is in, as long as her remains are buried within the Earth.  Calypso's powers can increase as she travels into the Earth's crust, further adding to the mystery of where her true upper limit lies.

In listed form, Calypso's powers are as follows:

Terrakinesis
Earth Bond
Earth Communication
Superhuman Strength: Class 100+
Superhuman Durability
Psychic Resistance

The level of her powers, except for the terrakinesis, change depending on how close to the Earth's core she is.  When her feet are planted on the ground, she's equal to Wonder Woman in strength and durability, and her mind is impossible to breach.  The farther she gets away, the weaker she becomes.

Seed of Markovia [01 Oct 2010|12:15am]
1.)  Iona Markov and Gregor Jr. are murdered.  Brion Markov is framed as the killer.  As a result, Markovia is thrown into anarchy.  A mysterious group of Geo-Force mockups attack while the country is in chaos.

2.)  Calypso catches word through the media and informs the Outsiders that she is taking time away to reconnect with Strata.   This is a lie, as she went to Markovia in order to try and help settle the commotion.

3.)  Outsiders see a recording of Calypso battling the Geo-Force mockups and losing, and go to her rescue and to help restore Markovia in whatever way they can.  (At this point, connections between Calypso and Brion can possibly be made by Max).

4.)  Outsiders arrive in Markovia and encounter one of the Geo-Force mockups terrorizing citizens.  The subdue him and interrogate, discovering that a man by the name of Frederick Jace is behind the chaos.  Further interrogation can lead them to the location of Calypso and Brion, who are being prepped for launch, into space.

5.)  Outsiders arrive just in time to surprise Frederick and his leftover Geo-Force mockups and take them down before Calypso and Brion are sent into space.  However, it appears that Brion's powers have been neutralized.  Whether it is temporary or permanent is unknown.

6.)  Brion Markov's innocence is proven and he take the formal role of King and requests the presence of the United States to help maintain the peace until Markovia can sand on it's own again.  Calypso leaves with the Outsiders before Brion has the chance to speak with her.

[20 Apr 2010|06:45pm]

location:  Star City
disaster:  None
time:  9:21:34 PM

Calypso walked the streets of Star City under the light of the moon and the stars.  Just as the night was calm, so was she.  It had been a long time since she had been able to put Terra to rest and bring Calypso into the picture.  As she saw it- she had two personalities.  She had the Hero and the Maiden, trapped in one body.  Terra, the Hero.  Calypso, the not-so-helpless Maiden.
