So.... what do I post where?teakettled is the mod journal.
cortinula is for threads, owls, and charmed/passed notes.
crumpeted is for judging applicants, the Friday Five, and house points.
sconed is for OOC introductions, unrelated gibberish, and plotting.
Journals are for reference information and private character reflections
(optional).
Wait, the journals aren't magical?!
Nope! Alternatively, a simple Cortinula charm will allow anything written on a piece of parchment or other surface to be visible on any other likewise charmed surface in the area. Think the future DA's galleons, only much more limited.
Example:
[CORTINULA]
This text is visible on anything else also cast with Cortinula.
[/CORTINULA]
Anything below or above the brackets is considered simply written on the parchment.
Example:
This is ordinary writing, and can only be seen by the writer and anyone glancing over his/her shoulder.
[CORTINULA]
What's written here is visible on his/her neighbor's similarly charmed parchment.
[/CORTINULA]
This is private again.
Keep in mind that anyone near the chatting students can simply charm their own parchment- thus effectively eavesdropping on the remainder of their conversation.
Also, you can simply shorten the tag to [C] if you get lazy.
This charm was mentioned in two N.E.W.T courses:
- Professor Binns referenced it during his lecture on the Grand Plea Bargaining Case of the Satyrs. Of course, it was very boring, and only a few students made note of it. Not to mention that hardly anyone would even consider pursuing a N.E.W.T in History of Magic.
- Cortinula was also included in a list of charms Professor Flitwick provided his students with in the beginning of the year. He noted that some of the spells were likely to appear on their N.E.W.T exam.
Regular passed notes are welcome in this game, too, as not every character would know of this charm. Magical ones are way more fun, though, so feel free to thread their discovery!
What do I use my character's journal for, then?
Every player should I have a post displaying their character's information- preferably behind a cut. Feel free to snazz it up with song lyrics or whatever you'd like.
Journals can be used for ordinary personal diary entries written by the character as well. But how boring it that?! Students may also be prone to privately jotting down lists, or scheduling their days, or even recording their astronomy notes in the same book. This is entirely optional, however!
Is there any special formatting junk I should use?
Well, you don't have to, but having a uniform method does makes things run much more smoothly.

How are house points divided?
Everyone wants to win the House Cup their seventh year, right?! Instead of randomly assigning numbers, this game juggles it OOC through character development.
The Friday Five are weekly surveys that can be found here. We'll post one batch every -you guessed it- Friday. You can earn extra points for making up the survey as well.
Challenge RPs take place to keep you from constantly RPing with the same people. They add some variety to things. You, as a member, can nominate two characters to do a thread, for whatever reason you want. You can name a situation as well. The players can then either accept or decline.
- Completing the Friday Five will earn your character's house 5 points.
- Nominating two characters for a challenge RP will earn your character's house 10 points.
- Participating in and completing a Challenge RP will earn both characters' houses 10 points each.
- Refusing a challenge RP will lose your character's house 10 points.
If your character is a prefect, feel free to dock/award points IC as well. Just post a note about it in
crumpeted!
This concept was established in
Anapneo and reintroduced in
Beguiled.
...I'll actually have a say in who's accepted?
That's right! All incoming character applications will be posted in crumpeted. All members will have the chance to vote either yes or no. (The entry will be friends-locked until a decision is reached and comments screened before it is made public.) After 48 hours (or once everyone's voted), the votes will be tallied and the applicant contacted.
