Character Name: Unknown. Named Jenny by the lab techs while in stasis.
Character LJ: tabula_rasa
Physical description: 5’11. 140lbs. Blond hair. Blue eyes. Pale, heart shaped face. Good skin. Curvy build.
Age: Appears to be approx 23; in actuality she is about eighty years old.
Birthday: Unknown. Aug 24 was chosen as the date she was brought out of stasis, 1987 to correspond to her physical age of 23.
PB: Julia Stiles
Abilities: Reverse Kinesis
Skills: Jenny showed a few signs of fight training and gymnastic skill upon awakening. She was put into physical therapy to regain her lost mobility and encourage retention of muscle memory. She’s an apt student, progressing rapidly through the SHIELD training program.
Weaknesses and flaws: While her power is automatic and any blow struck to her rebounds back with equal force, she is not protected from the attack. She will be hurt to some degree. Training will give her the ability to fight back but lessen the effect of her power. If she had the experience before to maximize the effect, it’s lost with her memories.
Personality: Jenny is quick to smile and can be quite upbeat on occasion. Sometimes she slips into slang appropriate for the 1930s and 1940s and believes it’s from books she’s read in the past. She will have nightmares every so often that wake others up and not remember them in the morning.
Character location/Home: London
Alignment: hero
Relatives: None known. Robert Woolverton ‘brother’ assigned by SHIELD.
Backstory:
Shortly after SHIELD was created, it was given control over a dozen secret government facilities in operation since the mid-1930s. Most were used for creating or studying weapons of various kinds, mechanical, chemical and biological. One dealt with threats from outer space. Two were repositories for all the paperwork generated by the government from WWI and WWII, domestic and foreign.
One was cryogenic storage facility. Along with many documented test subjects there were several early 20th century heroes, notable scientists and military officers, including the last soldiers to assume the Captain America and Bucky identities. Among them an unidentified young woman slept on in suspended animation, originally placed in the facility by NSA Special Agent Scott, a Skrull stranded on Earth in the early 1920s. He was the only one who knew her civilian identity. Due to SA Scott's disappearance, it is unknown when she was delivered to the lab or how long she's been in stasis.
They were ‘lost’ for nearly two decades before SHIELD technicians began the daunting task of cataloging and clearing the now outdated bases. When the cryogenic tanks were discovered, they were transferred to a more secure facility for further study and maintenance.
In 1995, a group of SHIELD scientists were given permission to attempt to revive some of the test subjects. Many of the subjects were found to be brain dead and unsuitable for the procedure. The subjects considered valuable were off limits until the procedure was deemed safe. Jenny, as she was affectionately named by the lab personnel, was not considered a ’national treasure’ and eventually she was brought into the main lab for reviving.
On August 24, 2005, Jenny became their first successful long term cryogenic awakening.
Jenny had no memory of her life before she was awakened. The lack of memory and attempts to assimilate her into modern day life outside of her quarters was complicated by the what was believed to be a case of PTSD from before her cryo-sleep. Her doctors arrived at the conclusion that it would be kinder to create an identity and memories to give her an anchor. With the help of a telepath and under Doc Samson’s supervision, Jenny was reborn.
Her mutant power was accidentally discovered when an orderly tripped and flung out a hand to catch himself. The hand would have almost certainly struck Jenny’s shoulder but for the sudden rebound of both the hand and then the orderly. Testing showed that Jenny had a personal reverse kinesis field about her. Any punch, kick or slap rebounded on the attacker with equal force. One could only touch Jenny with gentle hands. She may literally be conquered by kindness.
With the discovery of her ability, SHIELD was reluctant to let her out of their custody. Before the discovery, she was being prepared for a life as a SHIELD civilian employee as well as a long term research subject. The psychiatric division hopes to learn more about effects of cryogenic stasis for SHIELD‘s purposes. Now a new set of memories were implanted and an agent selected for a long term mission.
Jenny has a brother, Rob, who is a mid-level SHIELD agent. He comes by to see her every evening. He explained to her that she was in an accident and because she was his sister, his SHIELD benefits automatically covered her injuries and recovery. Rob is a kind, loving brother who has been Jenny’s guardian since their parents died ten years before. They are very close. She lives with him and he is putting her through college.
January 2009, Agent Robert Woolverton was given a promotion and a transfer to SHIELD’s London office. SHIELD has a vested interest in keeping Jenny under surveillance. Not only will the psychiatric data be valuable, with her power she could theoretically go up against some very heavy hitters with little injury to herself.
She currently works full time at a book store, on an indefinite break from her studies. She lives with her brother and a cat Yankee Clipper, YC for short, in a three bedroom flat owned by SHIELD. Being a mutant hasn't really changed the way she lives her life. She shies from casual contact to keep it from activating, although it does come in handy on the Underground.
Jenny has become restless lately. She doesn’t know it, but her brain is trying to remind her that she has always served a higher purpose and it wouldn’t be right not to use her ability for the greater good. She is at a crossroads in her life and poised to be more than the sum of her mental programming and SHIELD expectations.
