Account Type Changes

Hello wonderful users,

I've made some changes to the account type system. Anyone who donated to use to get the new server now has the Account Type of 'Special Early Donator'. You've got all the same stuff as before (userpics, styles, etc...).

So this is all in effort to get paid accounts up and running and accounts that include extra userpics.

Also in an effort to keep all the systems up and running we won't be offering Paid Accounts with 1000 icons (only permanent & Special Donators have those). This is because I don't not want to overload the systems (as happened with GJ) and then have to remove icons or lower the amount you can use. That seems pretty stupid to me. We should start with a low number see how the systems handle it and go from there. So here's the account types as follows (also posted in this FAQ):

Early Adopters:
150 Userpics
30 styles
Search the directory
Create syndicated feeds
View full RSS of entries
Make polls
Use text messaging

Permanent Accounts:
Upload 1500 userpics
Get their own @Scribbld.net email address
100 styles
Makes polls
Search the directory
Create syndicated feeds
Use a personal domain
Access to user domains - http://exampleusername.scribbld.net
Use text messaging
Access to full RSS feeds

Paid Accounts:
50 Userpics
40 Styles
Can make polls
Get their own @Scribbld.net email address
Use text messaging
Search the directory
Can create syndicated feeds
Use personal domains
Access to user domains - http://exampleusername.scribbld.net
Access to full RSS feeds

Free Accounts:
6 Userpics
5 styles

I am hoping that over the weekend we'll be adding an additional 2 new account types, the first includes all the abilities of the Early Adopter Account PLUS EITHER 100 extra userpics or 200 extra userpics. I will not be doing anything crazy like 1000 or more at the moment because I do not want the servers crashing and I am sure you all don't want that either. If we can handle more, we'll definitely do it, but better to give you a real amount and not have to remove them later on. That would be even more disappointing in my mind.

Anyways, we'll update later on when we add those account types. Also the normal Paid Account will hopefully be coming this weekend too!

Are we ever going to get S2 styles again? And also I remember someone asking about a layout contest for new scribld layouts how close are we to having that?

Yeah about that, definitely S2 style contest is on the back burner. I just don't have the time or knowledge right now. I don't really even know how to put new S2 styles into the system. Do you know or anyone? I might have to spend some time researching that.

I have a question~ if you don't mind.

When you're saying you're going to add two new account types, with the same features plus 100 or 200 userpics, you mean that someone would pay for the whole account and not that we can have upserpic add ons, right?

Because I have a few EA accounts and I'd definitely be interested in userpic add ons if they were to come :]

The account that includes the 100 or 200 userpic addons has the same features as an EA account, except it includes more pics. Basically it's a EA account with a different amount of userpics.

im kind of confused about these account levels. mine says "early free user".... so which is it? free user or early adopter? or is that one of the new account levels you've just implemented? clarification on this would be helpful...

i do know that im only getting 6 icons and a few styles so im more inclined to believe that im simply a "free user"...

That is correct, you're a Free User. If it's an early adopter account it specifically says so.

Currently that feature is in the works, I have found some code that should make it work, but I need some time to implement it.

This post talks about permanent accounts, but when I go to the paid account section (http://www.scribbld.net/paidaccounts/) it doesn't have the choice it seems. Is this not available anymore?

If you asking about Permanent Accounts being sold right now, we do not offer them at the moment, only Paid Accounts and extra userpics.
