"Casual Friday" at the Big Hero 6 offices meant that Kikuya cold wear her blue kimono and no makeup.  Actually what it meant was that she could wear 'regular' clothing but the idea was horrifying to her.  Why, exactly, did women want to encase their legs in heavy blue fabric that made them look as to be walking frozen sausages?  She did not understand, though she had made one concession to trend, as it were; she wore black flipflops.

With stockings.

As she walked down the hall the shoes made such a delightful soft little sound hitting against her stockinged feet.  Kikuya couldn't help but smile with her eyes.

"The hotel is one block to the left. It is not far and it is a nice night. I do quite enjoy walking with you so this is a special treat."

She walks with him, again about one step behind him.

"Was your meal satisfactory, Hajime-sama?"

"I would say that it was extraordinary, but the service put the food to shame." he replies with a slight smile. "I enjoy walking with you as well - I think I am the envy of everyone who has seen us."

"...are they staring?" She does not look. It would be inappropriate, a maiko's error.

"Perhaps a little." he replies, though he's not doing more than glance about either. "I do not blame them."

"It is a little embarrassing, but complimentary at the same time. You seem amused as well." She smiled and then nodded. "The building right there is where we are going."

Indeed the building's exterior even looked traditional.

"I am with the most beautiful woman I know, and am the envy of everyone who looks our way. Should I not be happy?" he replies cheerfully.

He holds the door for her, takes the lead up to the desk, then, once again, allows her to handle the actual arrangements and confirm the reservation.

For a few moments Kikuya speaks with the desk attendant, her language a bit different--harder in tone as contemporary Japanese is when compared to traditional dialects--but all of the grace remains, down to how she accepts the room key with both of her tiny hands.

"Our room opens to the garden, Hajime-sama," she smiles and nods the direction for him to lead them. "And it is adjacent to the bath. We shall start there."

Once inside the room she directs him gently to a place to wait as she herself disappears behind an elaborate screen only to emerge a short time later in a lighter, more delicate kimono. She is not entirely properly outfitted, her small hands holding the garment closed, and she casts her eyes down when she speaks to him.

"I could not acquire the appropriate garments of a yuna and the only drawback here is that these are private baths; they do not have changing areas. With your permission, I will undress you in the bath, Hajime-sama."

He bows just slightly. "That is alright, you are not a yuna, you are simply doing me a tremendous favor. That will be acceptable." he agrees, definitely ready to get out of the confining suit jacket, but waiting for the sake of not insulting her skills and not doing anything himself that she can assist with.

He moves to the area of the bath, leaving the door open for her.

She follows and once inside inspects the items that have been laid out for the bath before returning to him.

"It is satisfactory," she says softly as she takes off his suit jacket for him and carefully sets it aside, then assists with his shirt. When it comes to his pants, however, she turns away.

"I will let you take care of that while I do a bit of preparation myself. If you would, wait in the water."

She bows at him before stepping out of the room.

He tilts his head to the side curiously, but nods. She isn't a yuna, after all, and he doesn't want to make her uncomfortable. He finishes undressing, folding everything just so, then settles into the warm water.

It wasn't that she was uncomfortable; it was that the steam was destroying her makeup and her hair. Not wanting to ruin his experience by her hair sagging and her makeup melting, Kikuya left the room and undid her hair, brushing it carefully before letting it fall over her shoulders and washing her face free of makeup. It was not quite traditional--and she worried it might be inappropriate--but it was what would work best.

Clean, she returned to the bath and carried the tray of supplies with her that she sat by the water's edge before lifting her kimono carefully and stepping into the water behind him.

"How does the water feel, Hajime-sama?" She picked up a sponge and carefully began to draw water up and onto his shoulders.

He shifts in the water to make room for her behind him, admiring her as she walks past, clearly just as impressed with her without the makeup.

"After so long a time with a freezing spring... it feels amazing to take a hot bath again." he replies, closing his eyes and sighing with relief as the sponge touches his shoulders.

She realizes very quickly that the kimono is a hindrance, so she pauses for a moment to slip the garment off and fold it behind her. It stays nearby, though, for when she gets out of the water.

"I cannot imagine bathing in a cold spring, though I suppose it must of done wonders for waking one up." The sponge is dispatched as she puts a sweet-smelling soap on her hands and begins to rub his shoulders with her delicate fingers. She is remarkably strong.

He's no superhuman, but the musculature is obvious in this state. He shifts a bit again, giving her all the room she wishes, grateful for a large tub.

"I spent a lot of time on the road, learning from every master I could, so bathing in the spring was not as bad as it could have been, but in the Karasu's mountain, it was always... much colder than I recalled water being elsewhere. It was the way of things - my first chore of each day was to take the four buckets, climb down the mountain to the spring, bathe, then fill the buckets and climb back up. If I spilled a drop from any of them, I had to apologize to the water and the bucket, climb back down and begin again. I grew very familiar with that spring."

"When I was very young and just learning at my mother's feet, my first task was to learn how to draw a bath. It is much the same as you describe, though there were no mountains, just a very large garden and I very uneven on my feet."

He nods. "That sounds lovely. As a small child, we had a large garden, but I was supposed to stay out of the way of the gardeners. Eventually, when I prepared to begin my journey away from home, I learned how to cook over a campfire... but I'm not very good at it, still. I admit, I have trouble imagining you being uneven on your feet."

"When I was small. I was by far not the most graceful among my sisters and fellow maiko. But, I was determined. I worked very hard. I wanted to be beautiful, like the geisha."

She began to work on his arms a bit as she washed him, her own body close to his.

He relaxes back slightly into her, still supporting most of his weight, trying to make his arms as easy to reach as possible.

"Your hard work paid off."

"Thank you, Hajime-sama, but I could still improve."

She smiled and as he relaxes, she does as well. Soon it is not the water's warmth she notices but that of his skin and she begins to care for his fingers and nails.

"How do you feel?"

Of everything, his hands are in the worst shape - he has 'climber's hands' - the muscles knotted and the nails worn far down. The only thing that isn't consistent with someone who has spent a lot of time scaling a mountainside are his fingers, where the calluses have been carefully filed down to not kill the sensitivity in deft fingers, which need every bit of that sensitivity to handle a sword with proper finesse.

He can't help but notice her presence as well, occasionally finding himself leaning into her just a little more, trying to correct himself each time without being too abrupt.

"I do not know how. From what I understand, you have been practicing your arts a very long time."

His hands remain her focus for some time, almost snuggled to his body as she works.

His nails and knuckles in particular are going to take a lot of work and massage if they're ever going to be 'gentleman's' hands again. He definitely seems to enjoy the touch and cleaning - and her presence, the smell of her, and the relaxing touch combined with the hot water.

"Once upon a time, I might have doubted it, or thought that that had to be very strange, to have seen so much time in such a youthful body... but now I have little room to talk... though perhaps can say I understand."

"It is something that I like deeply about you, Hajime-sama. You understand what it is to be an old youth."

Her head rests on his shoulder a moment. It is something of an embrace.

Very, very close. He very nearly turns into the embrace, tempted to kiss her. He scolds himself internally and steels himself, remaining faced forward, but not pulling away in the least. It is not for him to initiate such intimacy, and certainly not here, even as attractive as she is, and after it has been so long since he's felt a woman's touch - he wants to - but he must be proper, lest he insult her and drive her away.

Its still a few moments of internal battle before he recalls her words enough to respond. "The same, and yet different. You have lived in this world, seen it change, for almost a century. I have but a few years in this world - and many centuries on the mountain where nothing ever changed save the pattern of snows on the mountain. Still... so much of this is so new to me."

"You will learn. You are already learning, Hajime-sama, and doing well."

Kikuya kisses his shoulder very softly once and then again.

"It will take many baths to properly care for you," she whispers.
