| Card: Fours are characterized as being solid, rooted, stable, and established; this can be positive, a solid foundation, or negative, something that refuses to budge or change. The four of Staves has been building and, whatever it is, they have established it, strong and solid. They can take a moment to admire what they've done, enjoy the first rewards it has brought them, and bask in their initial success. Sometimes this card suggests marriage; once again, laying the foundation for the future. Celebration, freedom, and excitement are also related to the Four of Staves. Personality, Sascha: Compassionate husband and father but is stern and stubborn at times too. He has the final say in all decisions made for his family and he wouldn't have it any other way. Personality, Mariele: Mariele is the mommy of mothers, she spoils Ottilie to no end. Biography: The Runic War, Erich going MIA in battle and never seen again (the brother Sascha was closest to), and Ottilie's "visions" left both Sascha and Mariele nervous about their future as a family. Ultimately the two decided to run off with their daughter to the Runic kingdom and go into hiding without telling anyone. | Card: The Nine of Staves is a card of completion or, at least, the finish line is in sight. Seeking leadership and success, they find themselves feeling tired and doubt themselves even though success is within their grasp; whether they will give themselves that final push is unknown but attainable. The Nine of Staves is described as being defensive, persevering, and a bearer of great stamina. Personality: Reserved, sweet, sophisticated, and a touch bubbly. She is a pleasure to be around despite her constant heartache due to the loss of her husband and love of her life. Biography: After Emil moved in to the castle with his older sister, the Queen, he married the love of his life, Vreni. The two were wed when they were still very young and she moved into the castle as well. Vreni and Emil were trying for a baby when, unexpectedly, war broke out with the Runic Kingdom. Vreni was devastated to find out Emil was killed in battle. Since then she's been learning to live her life without Emil and growing closer to Odilia, whom she still considers a sister. Relationships: -Wife to Emil (deceased). -Former sister-in-law to Odilia, Annegret, Jessika, and Olie. -Close friends with Odilia and Olie. | ||||||||

| Card: Eights are known for their strength, have the power to make real change and the guts to get the ball rolling. The Eight of Staves are known for their impatience, need for a quick conclusion, and dare to go where most never would. Personality, Hanne: A bit spacey, eccentric, and hard to understand but equally as hard to not love. Personality, Hilde: Blunt, outspoken, and impatient. Hilde spends most of her time expressing how annoyed she is by Hilde's mere existence yet lashes out at anyone who does the same. She is highly protective of Hanne but would never dare admit it. Biography: If Hanne and Hilde had been born as just one daughter and not twins they would've been Odilia. The two are very much like their mother in differing ways, both were born with supernatural gifts like their mother, and are Odilia's pride and joy. Hanne was born with the gift of foresight. The world around her and the different, possibly paths and outcomes that may come are constantly fighting inside her mind. Due to her powers, every day Hanne is exposed to so many alternate universes that it's too much for her. She speaks in riddles and cryptic warnings that are sometimes untrue simply because that particular path wasn't the one tread down. They are both valuable assets to their father but Christoph never hid keeping Hanne closer. Alternately, Hilde was born with the gift of knowledge of all things past, but never ever before so. She certainly doesn't think her gift as valuable as her sister's but she does have a much firmer grip on it; Hanne's gift controls her and Hilde controls her gift. The most use Hilde gets out of her powers is that she can expose the truth behind things and is an unbowed lie detector. When the twins were younger a childhood accident left Hanne almost completely blind. Her vision is extremely poor and once described it as "living always under a new moon." Hilde has always been expected to look after her sister, a responsibility she isn't very fond of having, and is only somewhat relieved by the servant aid, Svana, that cares for Hanne every day. | Card: Sevens are constantly searching for ways to succeed in tough situations (that they seem to find themselves in quite a bit) and also seeking out how to overcome their fears. The Seven of Staves feels as if they are constantly under attack, especially when they're tired or vulnerable, and when the stakes are high. The Seven of Staves is described as being defiant, aggressive, and stubborn. Personality: Spiteful, mean, selfish, and generally unpleasant to be around. He is a royal (pun intended) brat and is not ashamed to to admit it. Biography: Kaspar, the youngest of five sons, feels as if he is at the bottom of the pecking order when it comes to the Stave throne; all four of his older brothers would have to be dead in order for Kaspar to become king. The quickest swordsman of the five brothers, though nowhere near the toughest, Kaspar's most valuable asset is his skill in potions (which is no accident). Relationships: -Son of Christoph and Odilia. -Brother to Erich (deceased), Sascha, August, Pascal, Hanne, and Hilde. | ||||||||

| Card: Sixes are balance, harmony, and find solutions that will result in a new equilibrium when dealing with the aftermath of some sort of upset. The Six of Staves, in detail, is the hero; it finds the answer to the problem at hand and outshines the rest whom try and do the same. The Six of Staves is described as victorious, egotistical (but rightfully so), and renowned. Personality, Olie: Kind, flamboyant, and can make anybody laugh. Pesonality, Dalla: Secretive, lively, charismatic, and deceitfully charming Biography: Olie came to live with his older sister's family after the death of their parents in the Runic War. As an entertainer and magician, Olie is an exciting and interesting addition to the family and takes pride in what he does. Unfortunately, as of late, he has fallen into a dark place due to the death of his only brother and isn't the man everyone knows him to be. He had just gotten back out of the depression that had set in from his parents' deaths only to fall right back into it. On top of that he is beginning to question Dalla's loyalty to him and is nervous that she is having an affair. Dalla, a spy from another kingdom, took advantage of Olie's fragile emotional and mental state after his parents were killed. It doesn't take much to charm the likes of a sad, lonely man and Dalla did just that. It is unclear to even herself (at this point) what her mission is. Relationships: -Olie, the youngest of the Ishild siblings, is brother to Odilia, Annegret, Jessika, and Emil (deceased). -Dalla is sister to Vreni. | ||||||||

| Card: The Three of Staves has invested their time in something. It is a card of progress, of the first hint that the dream can be made real, and the Three of Staves may be feeling proud or even powerful because of it. The Three of Staves is described as being an explorer, a leader, and beholder of atypical knowledge. Personality: Keeps to herself, light-hearted, polite, and likes to tell made-up stories. Biography: No supernatural gifts were passed down to Ottilie through her father's genes though at a young age she began fabricating stories that she did receive visions of the future. Her childhood was namely spent spying on her relatives and actually made some shocking discoveries when it came to her uncle Kaspar. Filling her parents' heads with lies of knowing of impending doom and another war to come (though she will be surprised when she turns out to be right) she ultimately convinced her nervous parents to flee to the Runic kingdom. Though she was sad to be leaving the rest of her family, Ottilie was relieved that she had secretly saved her father from Kaspar's devious plans. Relationships: -Daughter of Sascha and Mariele Westerveldt. -Granddaughter to Christoph and Odilia Westerveldt. -No cousins (as of yet). | ||||||||

| Card: A Queen signals a time of growth, development, even bring forth life, and are (next to their king) the ones to make things real. The Queen of Staves, more specifically, plans trips and is described as being attractive, wholehearted, energetic, cheerful, encouraging, and self-assured. Instinctual and holds great strength in providing initial inputs and is often the catalyst to motivate others. Personality: Always thinking and can be reserved at times. Biography: Odilia comes from a family that has always been loyal to the Emperor and his family. The Ishild daughters catching the eye of Christoph, her family's relationship with the royal family slowly intertwined and, as fate would have it, she became the Queen of the Stave kingdom when Christoph was appointed it's ruler by his father. Her parents' lives were cut short, both civilian casualties of the Runic war, left Odilia to look after her younger brothers, Emil and Olie. Emil, married to Vreni (and like a sister to Odilia and Olie), too died during the Runic war in battle. After the Runic war, Odilia made sure to keep what family she had left close to the one she had made with Christoph. With her brother, Vreni, husband, and their seven children all safe and well, Odilia plans to make sure she never has to bury another family member any time soon. Relationships: -Wife to Christoph and therefore sister-in-law to Varvenis, Malcolm (deceased), Louis, and Elizabeth. -Sister to Annegret, Jessika, Emil (deceased), and Olie. -Mother to Erich (deceased), Sascha, August, Pascal, Kaspar, Hanne, and Hilde. -Close friends with Vreni (Emil's wife until he died). | ||||||||

| Card: The King of Wands card depicts a mature man who is decisive, passionate, and given to quiet deliberation. He sees infinite possibilities in his position of power and has a purified desire matched with a decisive will that remains unbroken even when tested by trying circumstances. Some of his undesirable traits include a quick temper and self-righteous. Personality: Christoph tends to be an all-business-and-no-play kind of guy. He is stern, sets strict rules with his children, and runs a tight ship. That is not to say that he is unapproachable because he does care deeply for his family and is a compassionate man just don't cross him. Biography: Doesn't get along with his parents very much. When he was younger the Ishild daughters had always caught his eye and Odilia was not his first choice to wed. His parents pushed him to marry Odilia because she had been born supernaturally gifted. He does love his wife but he has never had that fire for her like he did for (haven't decided between Annegret and Jessika yet - must chat with Carol). He isn't the type of guy to have an affair but if he had the chance to be with her again he would. Was very close to Malcolm until his death. The death of his older brother is shrouded in mystery and Christoph is determined to get to the bottom of it. Relationships: -Christoph is the third son of the Emperor. -Husband to Odilia Ishild making him brother-in-law to Annegret, Jessika, Emil (deceased), and Olie. -Father of seven children: Erich (deceased), Sascha, August, Pascal, Kaspar, Hanne and Hilde. | ||||||||
