PERSONALITY:
Ron Weasley is the youngest boy of the Weasley clan. Having only Ginny as being younger than him, he’s always been protective of her and, unfortunately, been the butt of a lot of Fred and George’s jokes. This has made Ron, as times, very defensive. He is always on the defence as he needed to be as a child against his older brothers’s plots. Once he decides something he rarely changes his mind. Ron is very loyal, especially to people he loves. His best friends are Harry Potter and Hermione Granger and he considers them both family. This, of course, means that Ron is on the light side of the war in the wizarding world. He was always completely opposed to Voldemort and his views.

Ron is oblivious and most of the time misses things that are right in front of his eyes. He is set in his ways and stubborn. He still holds the same views on some topics as he did back in school. Ron has a temper that can be set off in a number of ways: insulting his family and friends, making fun of his appearance/attributes, being bossed around or told what to do. Ron is not very confident in himself at all. He often thinks he's inadequate and he covers this insecurity up with a front of confidence and a fake ego but really, he mostly believes that he's nothing special.

Ron has and irrational fear of spiders caused by the traumatic experience of having one of his favourite stuffed toys as a child being transfigured into a big, hairy spider. Ron can come off as a bit fo a wimp at times but inside he is very brave. He would step in front of a curse for his friends or family in a second. Ron is not a very good planner or organizer but when it comes to Quidditch this completely changes. He can strategize Quidditch plays better than anyone else. Sometimes it takes ron a while to pick up on things like learning a spell, but once he gets it right, its more powerful than one can imagine.

Ron doesn’t mind being alone if his mood is right but normally, he prefers to be around friends and family as much as possible. Ron can take care of himself when needed but mostly relies on others for things such as cooking and cleaning. His Mum constantly sends him enough food for a village so he never goes hungry. He’s a bit of a slob and he likes it that way. He calls it organized chaos and can find anything he needs in his mess though no one else knows how.

Nothing angers Ron more than insulting his family and friends. Ron will come to the defense of someone he cares about without a moment’s hesitation. Because of his advantage of height over most, he’s known to use physical means in defending others but he’s become particularly good at combining that with magical means and verbal insults if necessary. Ron considers himself very lucky to have the friends and family he does and he feels the need to prove his level of caring in any way he can. He's also insanely protective of the women in his life i.e. Ginny and Hermione. He feels it is necessary as Ginny's big brother to watch out for her and the same goes for Hermione, though, there are different reasons behind his protectiveness of her.

Ron can often be very insecure and his search for reassurance in anything can sometimes neglect to realize the feelings of others. A prime example of this is him finding out everyone but him in his group of friends had snogged someone in 6th year. He then proceeded to pursue Lavender Brown in a very obvious, very rude way, hurting Hermione and many others along the way. Another example is his reaction to Harry being chosen for the Triwizard tournament. To him it was just another time that Harry upstaged him and he was pushed into his shadow and so he acted out, reacting in the only way he knew how.

HISTORY:
Ron grew up in a noisy, loving and full household. His parents, Arthur and Molly Weasley, though not the richest family in the world, provided a household full of fun and love. He's always known that his family doesn't have as much money as others but it's never bothered him. Though he tends to get very embarrassed when someone teases him on this matter (which never really happened until he met Draco Malfoy at age 11), he loves his family and knows he's very lucky. He has 5 brothers and 1 sister: Bill, Charlie, Fred, George, Percy, and Ginny.

Ron was a lively and curious child. He was always finding ways to get into trouble whether he tried to or not. One of the stories his parents always tell him is about the time when he was a toddler and he pulled his father’s wand off the table to play with it and ended up shooting sparks in the living room that exploded like fireworks. His mother would constantly find him in the kitchen with all kinds of pots, pans, utensils and food around him, banging and playing away. As a child he was closest with Ginny since they are closest in age and that fact remains true to this day. He endured tons of torture from Fred and George, one occurrence resulting in his irrational fear of spiders.

Ron was home schooled by his mother before attending Hogwarts as all of his siblings were. Raised in a large family, Ron is used to very little privacy and constant noise. His house was always loud and busy and he's come to love it as its all he's ever known. At age 11, knowing he would be attending Hogwarts, Ron hoped with everything he had that he'd be put in Gryffindor with his brothers. He didn't want to be the odd one out and he heard so many great things about that house and bad things about the others. It was a great fear of his for the few months leading up the school where he would be sorted but was extremely relieved that he was, in fact, a Gryffindor at heart. Before he even arrived at the school, Ron made his first friend at Hogwarts, Harry Potter. Feeling lucky having chosen the compartment Harry was sitting in, Ron soon found out that Harry was a nice boy and no longer saw him as a celebrity and just his friend. In that same train ride he met his soon to be other best friend, Hermione Granger, but at first did not like her and thought her to be annoying. This all changed once him and Harry saved Hermione from the troll.

Second and third year was a time of change for Ron. He began to see, when Ginny was captured, that life was not going to be easy from this moment on and there were more important things in life than Quidditch and food. When Hermione was petrified, Ron was surprised at how concerned, worried and scared he was. His feelings for his female best friend were changing and he wouldn't acknowledge it just yet. Facing Aragog and the masses of spiders was one of the hardest things Ron ever had to do. Never in his life had he been so afraid before but, to this day, he considers it one of his greatest achievements that he made it through unscathed.

In third year, Ron spent most of his time arguing with Hermione about her cat, fearing for his life with the escape of Sirius Black and worrying about Harry. It came as quite the surprise to find out his family fat, passed down from his brothers, was actually the thought to be dead Peter Pettigrew. Ron felt a loss once finding this out as Scabbers was the only pet he ever had. Ron also very quite left out when Harry and Hermione used the timeturner together and he wasn't able to go. He's gotten over it, of course, but still regrets not being able to help them. At the end of third year, Ron recieved Pig from none other than Sirius Black.

Fourth year was a huge step in growing up for Ron. The Yule Ball brought about new and intense feelings for him. For the first time he experienced extreme jealousy over Hermione going to the ball with Viktor Krum, though he disguised it as anger that she was fraternizing with the enemy. He didn't realize at the time that his feelings were actually jealousy and he played them off as concern, worry and protectiveness of his friend. He had a huge falling out with Harry, hurt and upset that Harry wouldn't tell Ron he was entering. His jealousy and anger also had to do with the fact that he felt like he was constantly overshadowed in his life; first by his many brothers and now by his best friend. But during his fallout with Harry he discovered how important Harry's friendship was to him and how in danger Harry now was.

Fifth year wasn't the best for Ron. He felt as if the world was going on around him. The only highlight of his year was finally making the Quidditch team as keeper and having the "Weasley is our king" song be constantly sung after his amazing performance in that one match. Ron loved the DA but hated dealing with Umbridge. The Department of Mysteries is something Ron tries not to think about, though he still has the scars to remind him. The loss of Sirius hurt Ron more than he let on, trying to be strong for Harry's sake.

Sixth year was the most intense of them all. Throughout the whole year Ron felt as if Harry was always getting everything. The potions book with the Half-Blood prince only strengthened this. The most important occurence of the year, however, was the distinct change in his relationship with Hermione. Ron was extremely surprised when she asked him to Slughorn's party. But once finding out from Ginny that Hermione has kissed Krum, Ron was angry and jealous and hardly knew how to deal with it. Ron felt as if he were behind his friends, not having kissed anyone and that is where Lavender Brown comes in. He used her to get back at Hermione for kissing Krum, to show his sister he wasn't behind, to make himself feel better and Ron regrets it. His almost death on his birthday put things in perspective for him and although he had yet to confess his feelings for Hermione, he knew they were there. He was afraid of the rejection he might face and was afraid of ruining the friendship.
