Sandra Lutsky. [info]vox_politik.

NAME: Sandra Louise Lutsky.
AGE: Sixteen. (6 September 1980)
HOUSE/YEAR: Eleventh / Ravenclaw.
SOCIAL STATUS: Middle class. Unfortunately, her parents spend most of their finances on her older brother's acting "career," so Sandra attends Hogwarts on a partial academic scholarship.
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual.

APPEARANCE: Though she claims to care not for outward appearance, Sandra still takes very good care of herself. She has a naturally sweet look about her, and one day someone may even go so far as to describe her as 'classically pretty.' However, now she can only hope to be called 'sweet.' Her skin is pale from not enough time spent outdoors, and eyes are a bright green. Her hair, the one real vanity that Sandra allows herself, is long and wavy, though it can never seem to decide on a colour - it can appear auburn in the summer sun and brown in the winter. Sandra also stands at exactly 5 feet.

Sandra dresses like someone's grandmother. She is fond of cardigans and skirts, and she only owns one pair of jeans. Her efforts to hide curves that she doesn't want are valiant, resulting in shirts buttoned all the way up to the neck and always at least three layers - even in the summer. She is every conservative mother's dream - she wouldn't dare show too much skin! Oh, the horrors!
PB: Rachel Hurd-Wood.

PERSONALITY: Sandra Lutsky is anything but what her email address might allude to. She is sweet, innocent, and naive - there are some people out there with street smarts and some with book smarts; Sandra is definitely the latter. All of the book knowledge in the world will never account for Sandra's inherent naivete, be it from her rather sheltered upbringing or her staunch refusal to recognise things that she deems unsavoury. In order to see what sort of person Sandra is, just look at her idols - Eugenie Gamp and Mona Mumps. The harshest words in her vocabulary are "fiddlesticks!" and "poppycock!", and she is apt to wrinkling her nose and frowning a bit if she hears or sees anything harsher than that. However, Sandra isn't a terribly judgmental person - she understands that people can and will do whatever they want to, so who is she to judge someone's choice of language or extracurricular activity?

Sandra is a sweetheart in every sense of the word. She lacks the coldness that sometimes goes along with being excessively polite, and even though she doesn't open up very easily to many people, she is still often warm and friendly. Sandra is also very calm and straight-laced. She rarely gets into conflicts because she is willing to hear all sides of a story before making a decision, and she could probably do well as some sort of conflict resolution manager. However, it's not that she wants to see everyone get along - though she is a very sweet girl, Sandra is hardly an optimist. She just thinks that being a nice, friendly person will make people be nice and friendly in return, and who doesn't want that? She also loves considering the Big Philosophical Questions, though she'll generally keep her thoughts on them to herself.

However, Sandra still holds onto some very romantic notions from all of her reading. Her favourite author is Shakespeare and she absolutely adores Arthurian legends, and she secretly believes that one day her prince will come to rescue her from her fairly boring existence. Nothing can set her heart fluttering faster than a gentleman willing to hold a door open for her. In a way, Sandra envies the wealthier students who have easier access to this fabulous dream of hers - there aren't many knights in shining armour among the middle class, or so Sandra thinks.

There are, of course, some rather unfortunate things about Sandra. For one, she has almost no sense of humour to speak of - that is, she couldn't tell a joke if it hit her in the face and she is often reduced to nodding and smiling along with the rest of the crowd. Even if she says something that could be funny, you can bet that she's said it with a completely serious intent. She would probably laugh a lot easier if she weren't so inhibited, but Sandra is very used to clamming up as soon as some big emotion threatens to show. When she is happy, Sandra will only allow herself a small smile. When she's angry, Sandra will only allow herself a slight frown or perhaps she might start knitting a bit more furiously. Big displays of emotion make her uncomfortable, whether they are from herself or from someone else, and she'll generally shy away from them.

DEFINING CHARACTERISTICS: In the hard-partying, sex-crazed world of Hogwarts, Sandra often seems very out of place with her lack of experience and naivety. But that's what makes her so special! She also makes no effort to pretend that she's more worldly than she is, because she knows that she'll eventually get caught up in that web of lies. In fact, it will be a good two years before Sandra even begins to discover the wealth of sexual innuendos that litter Shakespeare's works.

LIKES: Shakespeare, tea, winter, peace and quiet, dreaming about being rich, Arthurian legends, knitting, the elderly.
DISLIKES: Big cities, spontaneity, pudding, theatre kids, sex/drugs/rock 'n' roll, popular music, the overly optimistic.
INSIDE SCOOP:
1) She has a very special place in her heart for men who happen to be uptight sticklers for the rules. The sight of Ernie Macmillan's campaign posters lining the hallway makes her weak in the knees. Watching David Bradley sitting on the couch in a common room by himself makes her palms sweat and makes her check her hair twice. Yes, she loves a man who can lay down the law.
2) Though Sandra has never pretended to be more worldly than she is, she does pretend that she knows more pop culture references than she actually does. Having grown up without a TV, and having her musical preferences limited to 1940s big band (the music of the good old days, says her grandfather), she really did think that the Spice Girls were girls who really liked their spice racks.

HISTORY: When Sandra's older brother, Sheldon, declared that he wanted to become an actor at the age of three, his parents complied wholeheartedly. They immediately packed up their belongings, Sheldon, and the newborn Sandra and headed for the big city of London. Sherman and Suzanne Lutsky always wanted the best for their children, which is why they were all too glad to let her move in with her grandparents at the age of seven. They kindly offered to take Sandra when they noticed that her schooling was not quite as good as it could be, since the Lutskys were really only concerned with Sheldon's fledgling acting career at the moment. And oh, how fledgling it was - to date, his only claim to fame is that he played Orphan #3 in a BBC remake of Oliver Twist. Sheldon and Sandra never got along very well, and they still don't - mostly because Sheldon is an egotistical drama queen and Sandra is anything but.

Sandra's three and a half years with her grandparents were certainly enjoyable. Being old and rather unhip to the changing world, Sherman Lutsky Sr. and his wife, Helen, sheltered their youngest grandchild. She has to this day never set foot in the city of Liverpool, and on all of her visits to see her parents (and Sheldon, unfortunately) in London involve her holing herself up in their house and frowning ever-so-slightly. During the summer of her eleventh year she received her letter to Hogwarts, offering her an academic scholarship. Now this was one thing that her grandparents had heard of, and they delighted at the idea of sending their precious grandchild off to some prestigious school. Sandra was nervous about going - never as easily able to make friends as her older brother, she had no idea how she was going to cope with living with four other girls for the majority of the year.

However, Sandra's first year at Hogwarts went off without a hitch. Though she spent the first half in wide-eyed shock at the varieties of people who attended, she quickly found herself gravitating toward the wealthier students even though she felt somewhat guilty about it. They were all just so glamorous - and though glamour was never a big factor in Sandra's life, it was hard not to be impressed by it when constantly surrounded. She fit in very well with Ravenclaw, made a few friends, and generally had a very good time.

Her years at Hogwarts have been relatively uneventful, her home life even more so. Her grandparents are getting on in years, and every so often Sandra will allow herself to entertain thoughts of what would happen if they were to die. Of course, she doesn't spend too much time thinking about this - after all, it would mean going back to London and having to deal with Sheldon, who at the start of Sandra's eleventh year had scored a "major" role in a West End revival of A Midsummer Night's Dream as Fairy #4.
