N'Kantu grunts noncommittally, moving slowly through the scrolls and texts he has stored in his shelves.
He gestures to the table. "Waiting for... test results. Very large... tentacle. May find answer... in texts instead."
Vinny just smirks a bit to N'Kantu's answer and raises up to his feet. he walks over to the wall of shelves and reaches out, touching his hand to the first book. The shadows all in the room start to thicken and gather, seeming to take on substance and mass as he wills them to search through the books and scrolls for them.
"I think.. that this book might be good." he then says, as a shadowy tentacle brings a certain book right to N'Kantu's hands. He keeps searching though, looking for more information. Soon another scroll and two more books are delivered to the mummy in a similar nature.
N'Kantu takes the offered book, and he begins to peer through it through dusty, dry eyes.
He nods as he reads, grunting as he goes.
Upon looking through the scroll, he seems to move a little more spryly, and he seems to know what he's looking for in the second book. In the third book, he turns directly to the page he's looking for. "Mmmm. Yes. Here. It is... Eli'gipeth'or. It consumes... living flesh for... its offspring. It wants... this world to... give birth."
Vinny continues to sift, his eyes half closed as he watches the mummy. He's looking for more information but.. it's just not coming.
WIth a bit of a shake to his head, Vinny comes back into the real world and lets the shadows of the dark room return to normal. Rather breathlessly he flops back into his char and nods his head to the mummy.
"So.. It's trying to feed it's babies.. Does that mean there is some sort of swarm we can destroy? I assume that if we destroy the babies it'll kill the mother?"
"Not... so easy..." N'Kantu says, looking through the book. He pauses and doublechecks the scroll for a moment. "It lays its spawn... once it has fed enough... and when the spawn... hatch, they... feed." He glances at the second book.
"The spawn... consume endlessly. And there are... countless spawn. The egg casks must... be destroyed with... fire. But this... will make Eli'glpeth'or... very... very... angry."
"It's not like we haven't dealt with something like this before." replies Vinny with his usual bravado. "We got plenty of fire throwers - just gotta make sure that you're no where close though."
"Be careful... Eli'glpeth'or can... consume reality... itself. It is said that... those eaten by it... are sometimes forgotten... by the world. As though... they never... existed."
"Well of course she's a bitch - that is a given." replies Vinny. "But I more mean that it's not out of our league. I think that we can put her and her swarms of children down. Any clues as to where we should start the cleaning fires first?"
He glances through the texts. "Warm... lots of water... humid... places of death and... decomposition."
He looks up, unblinking milk-white eyes staring at Vinny. "The sewers." He begins to put the scrolls away. "Unfortunate that... I cannot come... to help aid you."
Vinny can't help but smirk a bit and then shrug his shoulders to N'Kantu's words. "Y'know, I kinda wish I was flammable, then I could stay behind with you." he says. "I may not be wrapped in muslin, but I know that stink isn't going to come off easy.."
"Don't worry... your... cigarettes will mask... the odor."
Vinny just rolls his eyes and nods his head to N'Kantu. "I know... I know.. y'dont like me smoking. I just haven't found a good enough reason to quit yet."
"Fair is... fair. I keep... things deadly to you... hidden away." He puts the books away, his back to Vinny. "I am sure... I will find... the escaped scorpion... soon enough."
Vinny just cringes, much as N'Kantu is probably expecting him to do. "I swear, if I find any scorpions before you do, I'm gonna smoosh 'em." he says before he gives another shudder. "Creepy little freakin' things.."
N'Kantu inclines his head to Vinny in a polite bow, but says nothing. |
