I talked to my mom today about what's happening in politics lately, especially with election season.

My mom considers herself a Libertarian politically, but votes Democrat. She has voted straight Democrat since she registered to vote in the early 70's.

Today I asked her how she thinks the election season is shaping up.

She replied, "No good."

I said, "Yeah, I think I'm going to be riding the McCain train."

She then said, "This will probably be the first time I will vote for a Republican. Obama scares the shit out of me."

She pretty much thinks he's a charlatan and a snake-oil salesman. I'm pretty much in the same line of thinking -- I'm not convinced and I don't buy into it. It's all words, and no substance, and plus, he has such little legislative and bureaucratic experience that it is, well, frightening.

My mom made some pretty scary parallels to the Carter administration, which we all know (at least if you somewhat pay attention to history, which should be all of you!) was a complete bust. She also made allusions to George W. Bush's "I'm a uniter, not a divider" speech and Obama's current rhetoric. My oh my!

One more reason why I cannot stand Mitt Romney:

Romney was on Fox News, and someone asked him what he thought of the President's State of the Union address. Instead of talking about the speech, he mainly was badmouthing John McCain.

EARTH TO ROMNEY: YOU'RE SPINNIN'. He asked you about the SPEECH. Now, I don't think McCain was speaking there, so you need to shut up about what McCain does or did however many years ago and stay on fucking topic, you douche.

I'd rather vote for Huckabee than Romney (though I'd vote for neither). I hate both Huckabee's and Romney's policies, but at least Huckabee is polite and tries not to speak ill of other candidates.

On the Democratic end: I think this race issue that has erupted in the last week or so is FUCKING STUPID. I don't care what color your skin is. I don't care if you're black, white, brown, red, yellow, blue, green, Martian, Saturnian, whatever. I'm going to be looking at your issues and not base my vote based on the color of your skin or whether you have a wang or a vag. It's stupid. It's very stupid. And I don't know why it has been made into an issue. I'm not really an Obama gal because has been spending the time he should be in the Senate out campaigning for president, and also in my mom's words, "I don't want to hear a bunch of feel-good bullshit, I want straight talk."

But I'd still vote Obama over Romney.
