SEXUALITY: Bisexual. Definitely not in that waivering manner as some confused teens are. Ruby is a very self-aware person and is comfortable knowing that this is how she is, however sex or sexuality hasn't necessarily become a point of fixation for her. She doesn't take it seriously, as she's often one to use it as a tool to get exactly what she wants out of life.

PERSONALITY: Ruby is a person of many faces. (And as a very self-aware person, she is aware of that.) Or more rather, she is an individual who puppets herself to puppet others. She works hard to ensure that she is exactly how one would wish her to be—if that is what she wishes. To one person she may seem tender and compassionate, and to another she may seem much less agreeable. To one person she may be a perfect student, to another she may be the perfect partner in crime. She uses her high emotional intelligence to manipulate others in whatever way she sees fit, often cuddling up to those she deems important, and appropriately ‘dealing’ with those who are less important.
To the general public she remains quite a non-remarkable member of Pansy’s group of Slytherin females. However, she does believe herself cleverer than Pansy as she believes the duty of leadership is far too taxing on the individual—she would rather not be the one who must dodge social arrows aimed at leaders. Within the group she is neither extremely outgoing, nor is she very withdrawn.
Her personal motto is that the end justifies the means. The justification can be as simple as her own entertainment, or can include more elaborate justifications such as the covering of her own tracks, obtaining the favour of the ‘love of her life’, or the preservation of her own identity in the eyes of others. She is not afraid of acting for herself. She is a very shrewd and calculating person; most actions and interactions she entertains are quite deliberate.
She does fairly well on her own academically, being talented in the areas of Charms and Transfiguration, yet less talented in the areas of Magical History, Care of Magical Creatures, and Arithmancy. She has OWLs in: Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, Ancient Runes, Astronomy and Herbology. She is currently taking all of the classes that she has received OWLs in except for Potions.
HISTORY: Ruby was born on January 24, 1981 to Scarlett and Thomas Montgomery, a pureblooded family who would gladly prove their lineage back to 9 generations, should anyone dispute that claim. As the youngest daughter of four, Ruby is not one who lets herself get forgotten. She has two older brothers (18 and 22) and an older sister (20 minutes older). She also had a younger brother who was five at the time of his death in 1997. She was the ‘perfect child’, one who was ‘always’ kind and happy; one who never argued with her siblings, nor did she ever cause trouble (that her parents knew of, though others would beg the differ). As a child she enjoyed socializing with other children as long as she could ensure that she will get her way—by direct or indirect means.
She had been home-schooled by her mum as most children in her condition, as her family was neither particularly rich (not rich enough to afford a tutor), but at the same time they were not destitute. Her father works for the Ministry of Magic in the Department of International Magical Cooperation and would often be traveling to Russia and Spain.
When she was 11, she received the expected letter from Hogwarts and soon found herself in Hogwarts under the Sorting Hat. To the surprise and dismay of her family she had been sorted into Slytherin house. Ruby is the same age as her twin sister, Erica, who is also of Slytherin house. They are the only two Slytherins in their family, but it wasn’t a surprise that they both ended up in the same house as they had grown up close to one another. Not that she minded as she knew that she was destined for greater things than others in her family.
Ruby had easily taken to others in Slytherin house, as she found her friends to be interesting and most willing to spoil her as many of them have come from more privileged backgrounds. She easily found companionship in the group of Slytherin girls and enjoyed the power that came so easily from being in such a group.
She is known in her group as one who is particularly good at hexing other students before they know it as she is handy with the wand. However she has less patience for areas such as Magical History and Arithmancy.
She hasn't been particularly shaken as her family was by the death of Dumbledore as her family supported Dumbledore and she was indifferent. She barely had seen or known the Headmaster, anyways. Actually she spent a good period trying to ensure them that she'd be alright at Hogwarts after his death and with the war still raging. Sure, he was a powerful wizard, but everyone dies, right? If one thing or another thing happened she was sure that she could get herself out of trouble. She was certain that she knew the right people and could most definitely gain favour from them to keep her family and herself safe.
Her belief in such was shaken in the spring of 1997, close to the end of the war when the werewolf Fenrir Greyback bit and killed her five year old brother. It was then she realized that she had no control and now finds herself in a constant scramble to regain control over most things around her by whatever means she could. She blamed both her mother and the werewolves for this occurence and has decided that she will live away from home when she leaves Hogwarts.
She is now working on her OWL classes and is carefully considering her future. Her ambition drives her to find herself the perfect position in wizarding society--even if it means stepping on a few feet along the way. As soon as she was aware of the Slug Club, Ruby had done everything in her power to ensure that she would eventually gain entrance into such an esteemed group. Of course she also had her eye on the position of prefect as a bit of authority never hurt anyone, but she would've prefered the connections over the position of authority. Unfortunately she never did receive either. Much to her dismay. |
