Normally, Joy would have been at her own apartment, working on this or that for her graduate classes, but even Gotham had spring break, and she'd taken advantage of the time off to come home for a few days. Home meant mom's waffles and sparring with dad, and spending time with her little sister. Home also meant a break from the insanity of school and everything that came with working on a masters degree in psychology in Gotham. She sometimes wondered if she could use her extracurricular - read: vigilante - activities as an independent study, considering how many clinically insane villains she dealt with on a regular basis.
She was in her room, the one her parents kept for her that still looked like it had when she was in high school, reading, when there was a knock. It wasn't like it was anything important, just some mindless magazine, so she looked up at the sound. "You can come in," she said lightly, "but the price of admission is chocolate." Because she knew her mother had baked that afternoon, and there was nothing like homemade brownies to instantly make any day better.

Character Name: Joy Ellis Drake. Character LJ: redbird. Physical description: 5'8. 120 lbs. Blonde hair. Green eyes. Age: 21. Birthday: October 11. Codename: Redwing. PB: Amber Heard. Abilities: Joy doesn't have abilities so much as she's just very well trained. She's an expert martial artist, having learned from her mother and father, as well as her "aunts" Cassandra and Dinah. She's very skilled with projectile weapons and she also learned sword fighting, because why not. It's a good skill to have and she's all about being prepared. She's also skilled at acrobatics, gymnastics, escapology and all those other fun bat skills. She's really good with computers and, as a psychology major, she's pretty good at out-thinking those crazies. Weaknesses and Flaws: She's incredibly stubborn and emotional. She tends to make the most mistakes when she's upset. She doesn't like to ask for help and sometimes takes on more than she can chew. She also doesn't have any super powers, which can be a liability. Character Location/Home: Gotham. Alignment: Hero. Team: She doesn't really do the team thing. She'll sometimes work with others, particularly Sin Queen and (obviously) Janie Drake, but she's primarily an independent contractor. She'd be open to working with the Justice League. Relatives: Stephanie Drake (née Brown) (birth mother), Tim Drake (adoptive father), Janet Drake (adoptive sister), Ethan Ellis (adoptive father, deceased), Abigail Ellis (adoptive mother, deceased)
Backstory: Joy Ellis was born when her mother was still a teenager. Knowing she couldn't give her daughter the best life, Stephanie Brown put her daughter up for adoption. Joy was adopted by Ethan and Abigail Ellis, who named her Joy. Her life was a fairly normal one for someone living in Gotham. She knew about the heroes who lived in the city, but they weren't connected to her life. Then, when Joy was ten, her parents were killed. It wasn't anything big or insane, just a simple car accident involving a man who'd had too much to drink and who lost control of his car. Joy would have been sent back into the system if it weren't for Bruce Wayne, who had kept an eye on her as she grew up per a promise he had made to her mother. Stephanie Brown approached Joy and revealed herself as her biological mother. It took Joy some time to become close with the woman, but eventually Stephanie took custody of her daughter. Shortly after, Stephanie was married to Tim Drake and Joy gained a step-sister in Janie Drake. She adored the younger girl and became very close with her new parents. When she was sixteen, Tim officially adopted her and her name became Joy Ellis Drake, with Joy keeping Ellis to honor the parents who had raised her. Her parents also trained her in martial arts in case she ever wanted to join in the family business. She learned from her parents, and also from Dinah Queen, who was still a friend of her mother, leading her to become close friends with Sin Queen. She took advanced classes in school and, when the time came to go to college, Joy left to attend NYU. She got her degree in psychology in three years, and returned to Gotham to get her masters. In the meantime, she also became Redwing, a new superhero. She didn't want to be Spoiler or Batgirl or Red Robin, preferring to have her own name and not step on any toes. She got an apartment with Sin, though she remained close to her family, and started to get more involved in the Gotham night life.
How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: Back home for grad school and really getting more involved in the capes and cowls. What are you planning to do with this character? Working with Sin, possibly starting a new Birds of Prey. Fighting crime. Being awesome. Hanging out with her sister. What do you want to see happen with this character?: I'm open to anything really.
