1. "Riley, it's okay. You don't have to try so hard. I know this is very stressful for you."
"'Stressful' is putting it lightly... I..." He blushed. "I never really knew I was capable of liking girls besides Dinah.."

2. Lily had been a big support for Riley after Dinah's accident. There had been friends he was closer to, that were closer to both of them, really, but Lily had that magic about her that her mother and Diana did, that just made things feel better. That made people feel alive again.

3. She was the one who asked him out, since it was understood that Riley would never realize he was actually experiencing attraction to her. She let him pick where they went, though; it was important to let him retain some sense of masculinity.

4. She had to admit, Venice was beautiful. And Mr Da Vinci was absolutely charming.

5. At the end of the night, she gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek, and told him what he needed to hear. That it was okay for him to be happy again.

1. Even after time had worn away hurt pride and a generational grudge, romance had never been something either of them had expected. A chord had been struck when Svalin realized that all she felt in trying to live up to her lineage, Vincent struggled to live down his own.

"I would dine with thee.. if thou wish it."

2. The fact that he was good with kids worked out in Vincent's favor. Solver was having one of his moods where he refused to be separated from MomOne, despite Vernique's attempts at settling him. Vincent simply said Svalin was welcome to bring him with them, and cashed in a favor to move their dining reservation to a private room, in case of Asgardian Pre-Adolescent Syndrome rearing its head. Tableside manner practiced with Scotty and Miranda kept the child placated, as the two adults found it easier than expected to keep a conversation flowing.

3. "I never hated you. Envied, certainly, and was annoyed by you, but no more than that."
"Lying is distasteful. I found thee repulsive."
Vincent laughed. "You were not alone. How obvious you were about it was almost refreshing, looking back."

4. It was almost startling for Svalin when she realized she had gone nearly the entire evening without thinking of the fact that she was spending time, of her own choosing, with Amora's son. It was just... Vincent.

5. "Vincent..." She held a by now half-asleep Solver as she looked for words.
"Yes?"
"When we dine next... I will make certain we have only each other's company."
Vincent managed to keep himself to a polite smile, rather than an enthused grin. "As you wish, Lady Svalin."

1. Chris counted it as her own fault, really. Halter top that hadn't been activity-tested was a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen, especially as active as the show's crowd was. At least she estimated it had only been a few seconds before she noticed. Half a second later was when DJ whispered a silent thanks for headset mikes, leaped down into the front row, and slipped his own shirt over his date-in-waiting. (It wasn't as if it was going to be on much longer anyway.) Chris was more impressed he didn't break tempo than anything else, to be honest.

2. The thanks for his chivalry came one full song later. After an intense gaze and some wriggling beneath the new shirt, the treacherous halter top was flung onstage. DJ came closer to missing a cue this time, and Chris giggled as she could swear she saw his forehead slope an extra inch.

3. To escape the crowds after the show, Chris had thrown DJ on her back and scaled a fire escape to get them to a rooftop. "I'm not She-Hulk or Ms Marvel, but I get by." She smirked over her furry shoulder at him."

4. They'd had plans, but couldn't for the life of them remember what they were. They wound up sharing a beanbag and a pair of old-school chunky headphones in an all-night record shop.

5. "Is it alright if I kiss you goodbye?"
"You can. In the morning."
And the door to Chris' room slammed shut.

1. "You can breathe, you know. He barely knows you're here." Luna whisper-snarked at Vincent, seated next to him at some big overly-important gathering of super-powered authority figures. Both Doom and Black Bolt were in attendance, and she'd wound up next to Vincent at the 'kiddy table'.

As she was saying that, however, she gently held his hand under the table. Luna Maximoff understands paternal issues.

2. "My room. Five minutes. Don't ask me why." She didn't want to have to answer that it was just because he was cute, and he was vulnerable, and this seemed like the most fun way to alleviate the second.

"....Kristoff, I'll be back later..."

3. It was a surprise, really, insomuch as anything could surprise Luna, that Vincent was... well, submissive. Notably so, even.

4. Although in fairness, Vincent was not surprised when Luna coaxed him on with "I'm not going to break, you know..." He was happy to oblige.

5. It was decided to be a very good arrangement. Enough that, while they weren't particularly closer friends afterwards, a brief text or magically-transmitted message was usually enough to clear a block of time on the other's schedule from that point on.

1. Cassidy is, understandably, not the most talkative. Angelo was capable of covering for them both, once he got going.

2. Angelo was able to go on at length about Cassidy's illustrious and accomplished relatives, with a particular weight on the ones dwelling in Genosha.

3. Cassidy soon learned the one great danger in being friends with Angelo. Pastries. Lots and lots of pastries. He started working out twice as much. He'd have just cut down his portions, but Angelo always seemed so determined to please.

4. "Dude.... it's okay... I... I mean, I'm flattered, but you don't need to worry about that.." Cassidy drew the line at Angelo giving him information on eligible Genoshan girls.

5. "This is the world's game, Cassidy. A wonderful and lively event." Angelo commented, watching the goalie make a beautiful save. "Not that pseudo-pugilistic endeavor the Americans call football."

Cassidy was too polite to ask what that outburst in Italian had been earlier, regarding this 'wonderful' event.

1. It started with Zach throwing himself in the path of something particularly nasty that was headed for Victoria. As he drifted in and out of consciousness, he could hear Victoria screaming some very unVictorian things at their opponent.

Hours later, when she had him stabilized in his bed, he beckoned her to come closer, his throat apparently dry.

He then proceeded to risk busting a suture in the process of sitting up to kiss her. Once he was sure her shock had subsided enough to process words, he stated that nearly dieing entitled him to satisfy a long-standing curiosity.

2. Victoria stormed out of the room, yelling something unintelligible, returning later with fresh bandages and muttering to herself.

"We're not going to speak of... certain things until I'm sure you've recovered. You're clearly in a delusional state."

3. Zach's constitution being what it was, he was on his feet and at her door with flowers about a week later. She grabbed him by the collar and pulled him inside.

4. The neighbors were soon assured, by a bathrobe-clad Victoria at her front door (Zach cackling in the background), that everything was fine, and she was in no danger.

5. After extracting a most solemn promise never to share it with anyone, she allowed him one photo of her with her hair.. askew; along with certain other details.

1. "You know what I don't like about you, Michael?"
"Only one thing? I'm slipping." He smirked.
"You're swimming in magical power, and you use it like a hammer. It's a paintbrush."
"Blah blah blah..."
"It's called experience, kid! Learn to appreciate it!"

2. It was no surprise to anyone that Zach and Mike couldn't avoid some chest-thumping now and then. What did surprise people was how quickly they would come to one another's rescue, even for heroes. Reflecting on it generally made it obvious that it was a points system.

3. "You're depressed. I know how to fix this. A little game, I like to call--"
"I don't want to play it, Zatara!"
"--'Have You Met, Mike?'"
"Zach."
Zachary turned to the nearest lady sitting by herself. "Hey there, have you met Mike?"

4. "Dude, grow up. So you two had a fight. You suck it up, you bring her some flowers, and you apologize for whatever was wrong."
"But I didn't do anything wron--"
"You bring her some flowers, and you apologize for whatever was wrong."
"...Roses are for good nights. Daisies or bellflowers you think?"

5. "Stop smiling."
"Was I smiling? I wasn't aware." Zach grinned.
Mike sighed, then grunted. "Yes I've been expanding my studying.... I'm still not going to tell you you were right."
Zach just kept smiling.

1. Zanna had prodded him into it, saying that taking an apprentice was the natural evolution of any magician's own growth and education. As it happened, he'd practically taken the words out of Ash's mouth when he came to her.

"Uh... ap-ap-apprentice? Yours? I... uh... yesplease." She blushed.

The following few years actually had a lot of blushing in store for Ash. She was an apt pupil, and Zach always gave praise where it was due. To say nothing of how she was always more than a little starstruck by Zach. Hey, it was totally fair. Man knows how to wear a suit. Or less... sometimes a lot less.

Zach, for his part, loved being a teacher, and he and Ash generally hit it off like a house on fire. To say they were close was putting it mildly, but as she got older, it got a little blurry as to what the relationship was defined as. It was nothing like teaching Sindella or Avia, that was for sure...

2. "So... this is a 'thing' between us, isn't it?" Zach asked awkwardly.
Ash nodded, blushing pink.
"And the age difference isn't an issue for you?"
She shook her head fervently.
Zach paused, then smirked. "If I check your bag, am I going to find a toothbrush and a change of clothes for tomorrow?"
"...maybe..."
He put his hands on her shoulders and kissed her cheek softly. "I'm okay with seeing where this goes, then."

3. As it turned out, it went not just to the next morning, but through the three-day weekend they were enjoying. Intensely enjoying, at that. Ash marveled at his flexibility, and Zach was happily surprised at how eager to please she was.

4. He also couldn't help but be pleasantly surprised at just how much there was she wanted to try. However shy she was socially, she had a curiosity that was almost insatiable. Reflecting on what she'd been like as a student, it should have been obvious.

5. Ash swore to hunt down whoever changed her ring-tone to 'Hot For Teacher' and make them pay.

1. Varon met Grogg due to tinkering with the Headship's warp-drive, which lead to it functioning as a dimensional bridge. The ship arrived over Tokyo. With most of the team dealing with a relatively minor Hand crisis in Osaka, Grogg had been taking a day off. Unfortunately, Varon spotted him just as a nearby woman screamed, not due to Grogg, but due to a rat that ran by her foot.

"HOLD, hideous beast! Your attack on that elderly woman will NOT STAND!"

2. The battle would have been relatively simple, had not the National Elementary School Choir Competition been going on. The proximity and talent of all the singing small children was enough to empower Grogg to full size for a short time. After a brief but unpleasant scuffle, they came to realize what had occurred.

3. They returned to headquarters after dark, singing merrily, and greeted by Grogg's teammates.
"What did you do to Grogg-san?!"
"HAHAHA! We drank, we fought, he made his ancestors proud to have hatched him!"
"Missy Kobayasha, Grogg loves you... and Grogg loves his new friend... Grogg loves all the little children... and.. and Grogg loves banana daquiris!"

4. The two became fairly inseparable, although it took extensive explanation for Varon to understand that his usual mode of dress would be unacceptable. Varon even went for a visit to Monster Island with Grogg, to set straight all the individuals there saying he'd gone soft. He also provided him with advice for finally asking out Mothra.

5. The two made a heartfelt farewell when it came time for Varon to return to his home dimension, but Grogg swore the team would keep a spot open for him.

1. It took a lot of prodding from Din, but Petra finally decided to go to college, for a degree in business management. It wasn't really his field of expertise, but he helped her maintain study habits every step of the way. To their mutual credit, he got her through it with honors inside of three years.

2. At her commencement ceremony, Petra asked Din to marry him. After the resultant panic from Din shrinking to shoelace high and Petra putting up ice walls to keep anyone from stepping on him, they got out of there, and he simply told her he needed to think about it.
"Okay, you can think about it. Later. Now let's go make it really hard for you to think." She smirked, tucking him into her dress before flying off.

3. A week later, Din accepted her proposal, and they hit Vegas.
"But, but, but, I don't do this sort of thing! I... I plan, I organize thigns, I--"
"I know you don't, sweetie, that's why you have me." Petra kissed him and hugged him the way that makes him go all melty inside.
"Okayy..."
Within an hour, they slipped rings on one another's fingers.

4. Din was a little offended that nobody was surprised that Petra was the one who proposed.

5. "So... how do you feel about adoption?"

1. "So, you're the new kid? Welcome to the job." Petra welcomed Warriors' latest employee. "I'm the owner's daughter, but don't let that intimidated. You'll find plenty of other things about me to intimidate you." She winked, leading Steven to just gape for a moment, a relative eternity for a speedster.

2. "So... I've been watching you."
Steven grinned.
"Not that kind of watching, stud." Petra rolled her eyes, then paused. "Well... not just that kind of watching." She winked. "Never seen anyone so much as have a fork hit the floor, let alone a glass or dish, when you've been on shift. They always make these last-minute saves."
"I'm... not sure what you're talking about, P."
Petra sauntered up, took the glass he was holding, and blew a breath over it, and most of his hand, that chilled it. "Sure. Keep telling yourself that." Her break over, she headed off again, maybe a little extra sway in her step.

3. Petra got asked out all the time, and asked others out all the time. The fact that Steven went to the trouble, as much trouble as it could be for a speedster anyway, to change into a nice shirt and pants after finishing his shift, and then ask her out, was a nice touch. She didn't impress easily.
"Well I hope not." He replied with a grin, after she told him as much.

4. After the act was dropped, they made a good habit of covering for one another at work whenever one of them needed to flit out to fight some crime.

5. "...this is a joke, right? This isn't because... y'know, you and me... we..."
"Don't flatter yourself too much, babe. You got the supervisor position all on your own. Now, if you'd like me to reward you for your skills in other areas, that we can talk about..."

1. They met for the first time when Alex was on Earth to visit Mac. An undercover Snark recognized them and assumed it was caught. Kelly got involved by virtue of it being at her favorite pizza place in the city.

2. "Lady... you remind me of a friend of mine, only taller and less furry."
"Not the worst pick-up line I've heard, but sorry, not the plumbing I'm looking for.

3. While Mac contacted local authorities, Kelly did Alex the courtesy of escorting him to one of her safe-houses to clean himself up. Like anyone does in a bathroom they're a guest in, he peeked in the cabinets.

"...okay, REALLY reminding me of Red now."

4. Once Kelly found out Alex could put on a perfect southern accent, they hit a pool hall to pull a hustle for some quick cash, getting the locals to prey on the poor unsuspecting out-of-towner.

5. When she eventually drops him back off at the Baxter Building to meet up with Mac again, she sets off several alarms.

1. "You... you look... I never expected... I.."
Petra cocked a hip to one side and smiled. "You're just running in circles inside trying not to seem surprised I'm not dressed sluttier, aren't you?" She patted Jon's cheek, smiling. She'd found a very modest sun-dress that she felt was still flattering, for their lunch-date. It was cute to watch him squirm on account of his own politeness.

2. Jon had picked her up in a charity waitress/waiter auction that Warriors had run, Petra herself having chosen him and paid him to be her safety route, and signaling thusly during the auction. He showed up with flowers, and befuddlement.

3. He'd never thought she was stupid. Jon being himself, he was hardly capable of assuming that about someone, but he was impressed at how much she was capable of talking about business. Normally he only heard ~~Zach Mister Zatara~~ go on about brand recognition that much; but Petra was her father's daughter, and she loved Warriors deeply.

4. "Is this really what you wanted?" Jon looked around the used bookstore. "I expected..."
"Something more lively." She smiled. "I can be a good girl too. I travel a lot, so I read a lot." She pushed a bruised copy of a Vonnegut collection at him. "Here, my treat to you for rescuing me; and I don't want any refusal just because you're the one escorting me around.

5. "So... Uh... Would..."
Petra slipped her arms around him and put her hands into his back pockets. "This is the part where you're not sure if you should ask me out again, because you can't figure out if I behaved so nice just on your account or not."
Jon mumbled something and nodded, trying to at least partially ignore certain features of her that had become much harder to ignore as she drew herself closer. "I just... had always heard..."
"Everything you heard about me was true. There's just plenty you haven't heard, too." She smiled, then leaned in and gave him a gentle and patient kiss, that concluded with a soft nip of his lip that she wondered if he could actually feel, being what he was. "Call me."
"..yes'm."

1. Through a very complicated series of events involving a supervillain brawl spilling into a restaurant, Michael wound up with a very unexpected partner in his makeup as Firestorm.

2. "Okay, if we're going to be rocking the fire and ice appearance, the name needs to change."
"But... but I like the name.."
"I'm thinking... Schism. It sounds aggressive."

3. Michael wasn't sure whose mental influence it was, but rather than the usual floating heads, both he and Petra appeared in full nude forms when they communed inside the matrix.

4. "So... I... I was surprised that.."
"That the hot chick actually knows about chemistry? Daddy made me memorize some basic atomic structures in case I ever get tapped for a ring. You'd be surprised how small you can start constructs at."

5. The day Petra found out she could override Michael's speech centers and have her voice come out of his mouth was the best day ever, if you asked her.

For Michael, not so much.

4. "My family? Dios mio... I'm gonna need a whiteboard to map this out..."

5. After making very sure they were not related in any way, Andrea invited Victor back to her apartment for coffee and a diagnostic.
