Flashback: Age 16
Vincent glared across the table at Kristoff, who'd managed to corner him after getting home from school. He'd zoned out most of what he'd been yelling, waving a newspaper about, but he'd picked up some bits about their last battle, against members of the Serpent Society.

"All right, all right..." He sighed. "You've got my attentions. Tell me what I did that you think was wrong."

Vincent huffed. "I know what I was doing, and I still had complete perception of the entire conflict. What I know I did is remove someone from the conflict who clearly didn't want to inflict any harm on anyone, and talk her down before she did something desperatedon't you dare make a comment." He looked sharply at Kristoff as he realized what he might have set himself up for.

"If I was going to live according to other's expectations I'd still be in Doomstadt wearing plate-mail."

There's a distinct wince there as Kristoff falls silent.

"I worry for you," he says at last. "That's all."
Plenty of Avengers and such had been known to act rashly on mistaken impressions, and anyone with the name 'Amorason' either in cahoots with the villains or using kissing and...such... as a weapon/'persuasion' method would resonate with old experiences and they were all bigger and more experienced than his brother. The superhuman New York 'public' was what worried him most about this little public indecency. Not that he'd been happy about the indecency.

But he can't rant anymore, after that.

Vincent smiles easily. "I know you do. You're my older brother." His last retort stung him a little bit as well, but he had a point to make.

"I'll hurl you into a dimensional rift if you ever tell anyone I said this, but... my actions are based on the assumption that if there's hope for me, there's hope for anyone. I'd... probably be doing terrible things today, if not for you. I just want to give others the same chance." He paused. "Not for this conversation, but I need to talk to you later about getting extra-terrestrials cover identities and citizenship."

He glanced at his watch, trying to seem non-chalant after that confessional.

Kristoff, touched, nods.
He knows Vincent's manner of dealing with such intentions could still be subject to argument, certainly, but Kristoff isn't up for that.
"That shouldn't be hard to arrange. And I'll just leave this at the fact that I hope you don't have quite so much of an audience again, and that you had best not bother Cassandra today."

A pause. A smile. "And not that it is relevant, but for the record, I am fairy certain I could get out of a dimensional rift."
