Meeting for the first time....Again (AU)
She had gotten out of Gotham before she had ever met Robin. She never crossed paths with him. She wasn't sure why she had come back to Gotham. It wasn't always a very charming city but it had never distressed her. She also knew that this city had everything she might be interested in.

That was why she had come back here. She is having way too much fun going after a very lovely piece of jewelry that is on display at the museum. It is when she gets out without tripping security she thinks she has been spotted.

So of course she runs away.

"If you had I'd be making you return that too," he points out. Besides, a careful security guard wouldn't deter someone like this too much.

"What would be important is the lesson it would teach him," she said in a dismissive tone.

"Not all thieves are nice like me. I avoid violence. I mean this is mostly for the thrill... I know others who are more dangerous. Guards need to be ready for that."

"No, but the ones who hit these targets are usually smart enough to know that lethal force or anything serious is going to have the law on them faster and is going to cause them problems. In and out and preferably unseen is how the good ones want it." The violent ones were more common among petty thieves really.

How sweet of him.

"Well I would like to take my leave." She is glad for now that she hasn't gotten into too much trouble. She steps back planning on slipping off.

He doesn't seem to do anything for a moment. Batman was supposed to catch thieves, and she was one even if she'd returned things. But...he felt odd about that. There were too many parallels with his mother and he could never quite condemn theft like he was supposed to. This was the first time he'd run into a good thief since being Batman and he was torn.

"To come back another night?" The words escape his mouth but the bat gravel isn't really into it and instead of lunging after her, he just takes a step forward.

"Maybe," she said looking him over just once.

"Gotham is interesting. It's been a few years since I was last here. Might be fun to see what kind of trouble I can stir up."

That has him slip out of bat-mode for a moment. "Interesting? First time I've heard that." From a criminal of sorts at least. "You do realize I won't make it easy for you."

"O but Batman" she is full on flirting right now.

"I like it when it's hard." That is terrible but she doesn't feel bad about it.

"Then you'll enjoy our next encounter more I expect," he deadpans back.

She lets a small laugh out.

"If you're always this much fun? Mmm. I look forward to it."

Fun? Batman? If dad heard that the fit he'd throw...

He should stop this now. Right now.

"-Of course, that's if you escape capture. I haven't pulled out the cuffs yet."

...So much for that.

That just gets a wide smirk from Sarah. She'll be able to get out of them pretty quickly.

"Just handcuffs won't keep me busy for long, you know."

"I'll find other ways off keeping you put, don't worry." The mask and darkness made it impossible to see any of his face but that didn't mean he should let this continue. Now if he could just stop....

See now she is retreating because really she has no idea what she is doing. She should stop before this gets even even more complicated.

His mind is angrily telling him to stop this and retreat in a very Bruce-like voice. Okay, maybe it's yelling. But despite his mind telling him no, he steps forward again.

He should catch her right?

Oh he should.

But the thief is backing up and watching him. He could let her go with a warning and let her get into trouble again.

As she backs up, he only moves closer now with a few strides and closes the distance between them fast. He lowers his voice to more of a raspy bat whisper. "Only warning Fox. Next time there won't be one."

She moves away with every intention of leaving now. There's no reason to stay now that he is letting her go.

She'll find that the Batman is already gone from sight, blending back into the shadows. He may still be there, watching, or he may be gone. It's hard to tell.
