[waiting to be picked up outside her apartment, saving Hashirama the trouble of walking up five flights of stairs to her door since there's no elevator here. is wearing a simple little black dress, hugging her arms close and holding onto her clutch purse, feeling out of place looking so nice while people walk around so casually. isn't used to going on dates like this, but has been getting used to it, and of course has a mission tonight but that can wait... is looking forward to these little dates.]

I've just been out of the game for a long time now. Maybe it's all coming back to me.

Maybe. [little toeing at the calves again, taking another bite of nomnoms.] It's a bit extensive for the first date, most people just do a movie...

I'll remember that for the second date. Movies and junk food, nothing fancy at all. Dinner will be whatever we eat there.

You can still be fancy, now you've got a beautiful garden dinner to top. [goes for another bite of food, hearing her phone go off inside her purse, looking down at it.] ...

I will have to start on planning right now to beat this one. There has to be something that... [stupid phone.] You can answer it if you want to. The world have moved on since I dated and back then, there was no mobile phones calling to interrupt. [hahah yes, it has been a long time.] I don't mind waiting if it's important.

... Thanks. [glances down at it, fishing into the bag, giving a little bow and stepping down the hall briefly to excuse herself, not wanting to be rude and chat on the phone. picks up before it ends, listening to the person on the other end, not saying a word until he's done, and not getting a chance because he just hangs up. is still for a moment, then returns, wanting to make up some lie to explain it but can't immediately think of anything, and is sure she just looks submissive right now.] ... Sorry. It was just a wrong number. It was strange, though. The person sounded really worried.

Did they say about what? [scoots chair over and puts his arm around her shoulders, rubbing softly.] You are really sensitive to other people, even when you don't know them. You are definitely a special, one-of-a-kind woman.

Just sounded stressed, like they had something urgent to say. I hope they get through to the right person. [leans closer, to be sheltered against him.]

[does noticed the change but thinks it's best not to say anything about it. instead, uses the surroundings of a distraction.] It is not as impressive as the inside, but the work they done out here is still beautiful to look at. Nothing really rare, not to say that you can't admire the simple things.

Whoever cares for these has a nice touch, and cares about the future of these plants... Do you think... in terms of love, if you care for something enough it will bloom for you? Or are there cases where it's hopeless...

If you wish for it to happen and given the right circumstance, I believe it can. Love isn't something that happens straight away, it develops. But sometimes, it might not be so you can try and wait and hope, but sometimes it isn't enough. It is best to walk away before you get hurt too much.

[thoughtful hum.] It's a bit of a heavy question for a date this early on but... what happened with your ex-wife? You don't have to tell me if that was rude to ask.

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]codefive
2010-06-26 01:15 pm UTC (link)
It's okay to ask. Actually, it might change your mind about me and you may not want the second date, but it is better for you to know now... than finding out down the road. [and yet, it is not so easy to say. how can you feel good when you were the reason your wife wanted to have multiple male appendages in her.] I got too involved in my work and... she felt neglected. [significantly changes his tone to sadness. he knows it was all his fault and he could have turned it around but he couldn't.] I took my work too seriously and I wasn't the man she wanted to be with anymore.

[easily picks up on the sadness, squeezing his hand and petting it softly.] A woman should be patient and understanding, your line of work isn't an easy one. If you were a doctor, what would the argument have been? Stop saving so many lives, I want some attention? Women who get involved with busy men should expect some degree of neglect. But they should also be the first one to greet him when he gets home with tired shoulders and hungers for a home-cooked meal. Some women can't handle that sort of lifestyle, but the man is yearning for her, too. That's what needs to be remembered.

... You have a good grasp at understanding it. It was never my intentions to force her away. When we met, I was just a rookie in training. Although the hours were long and hard, I still had that free time to go out and hang out with friends, chase the girl and when I got her, I lavished her with all the time I could give her. Progressively, it changes. I was promoted, I had to study for further promotions and when I made detective, you get thrown in with all the heavy cases that are time consuming. I can't blame work for everything, there could have been many times I set aside alone time just for us but I was too involved. If she only told me this, I could have known instead of getting a shock like I had. I just had no idea at all.

There's a point, when you should speak up and when you should recognize that the reason a man is working so hard is to provide for his family. When he forgets his family, it's worth mentioning, but when he's working hard to make sure his family has a good life... then why would you want to punish him for that?

She thought there was a reason to do so. It's the past now, our divorce is settled, there is no reason to focus on that. It was a mistake that was made and you learn and move forth is that information so you don't repeat it again.

I'm sorry she hurt you, then. Not all women lack compassion and understanding toward these types of things... If someone truly loves you, then they'll want to make it work, no matter what.

Not chilly at all... It's weird but ever since I left your apartment that morning, I've felt more cold. But now that I'm with you again it's... warm. I feel warm.

I understand. There is a certain quality you have that is able to cheer someone up, make them feel wanted. [even though she said she wasn't cold, wants to rub her arms down as if he was, resting his arms around her tiny waist.] It is strange, that we haven't known each other for that long at all but... I feel something there for you. I don't know what it is but it feels nice to be looked at the way you do, your perspective on everything. I probably don't make any sense right now.
