[waiting to be picked up outside her apartment, saving Hashirama the trouble of walking up five flights of stairs to her door since there's no elevator here. is wearing a simple little black dress, hugging her arms close and holding onto her clutch purse, feeling out of place looking so nice while people walk around so casually. isn't used to going on dates like this, but has been getting used to it, and of course has a mission tonight but that can wait... is looking forward to these little dates.]

I can understand. A job like that... Does a detective rank higher than a police officer?

It does. Normal officers are trained in the required training to handle most normal situations you will come across. You can stay like that until the day you retire, or you can go onto high ranks but in doing so, you have to complete extra training, degrees, put more work into it. To explain it simpler, they are general, we are specialized.

So you're like an elite crime-fighting machine. [teases, crouching down to get a closer look at some of the plants.] What's the next step up from detective?

Captian. Get your own squad. That will never happen for me.

Why not? [looks up at, tugging him down to look.]

[crouches down and reaches out, gently touching the petals so no clumsy big hands will knock them off.] A bad history that will never be overlooked. [leans in and takes in a deep breathe.] So fragrant.

Bad history? You don't look like you could ever harm a flea, let alone have a bad history.

[get distracted with the subject change...] I was a rookie once. We all made mistakes, just some were bigger than others. [well, that's partially it.]

... [leans over to give his cheek a soft kiss.] Don't dwell on the past, it only hinders the future. Let it inspire, but not dictate. Someone told me that once...

That someone was a very smart person. [rubs shoulder and softly smiles.] I like hearing these thoughts that you have even if they were shared by someone else. You don't just agree to everything, you will put your thoughts and feelings into what you say. I really respect that.

[he is very smart, yes... and shouldn't get props for parroting what someone else said, but she does agree with it, so it's okay right?] ... [has she become like him, speaking her mind like this? didn't even realize it was happening.] Maybe I just like talking to you.

Yeah. [offers him a soft smile, getting to her feet, not yet letting go of his hand. doesn't really want to.] Is this where I get my serenade?

You are going to have to hold out for that a little while longer. [guides back to the chairs and table, pulling out her chair and pushes her in within comfortable distance.] I'll be one moment. [quickly walks off to get the food. don't want to keep a woman waiting. he has done enough of that already in his life.]

[looks around, wondering how long he planned this... having a dinner all ready and everything, driving it out here, then driving back to pick her up. that's a lot of money and effort... he's really serious, isn't he? zones out while looking over at the gardens, letting her thoughts wander.]

[not everything is planned perfectly, the food took a bit of trouble and is not at all presentable in tupperwear containers but it was hard to keep a plate there warm the time it took for them to arrive. thankfully these are fresh and still warm with the help of the wife of one of his old team members that died in the line of duty. he still kept in contact with her and was more than happy to do this for him.]

Sorry, there is no plates, only plastic forks. You will have to pick it out of the container. [and hopefully they will be something Konan would eat. salad, chicken and mushroom quiche and something special for dessert but that would come later.] This is not the romantic part but it does come with a bottle of wine too. [pulls out two plastic cups and puts them on the table, uncorking the top and pouring a drink of both of them.]

[looks over the display, finding it charming. has only had a few romantic dinners, or dinners with a partner, and it wasn't exactly romantic... more the perfect setting, but it felt so sterile. this isn't as expensive or lavish, but... likes it. picks up her plastic glass of wine, holding it up to examine it for a moment, then laughs softly, bringing a hand up to cover her mouth.]

What is it? [should be getting worried about her saying now boring this is and this is not at all the best way to woo a woman but he doesn't feel that. she doesn't seem like that type that will just crush someone.]

[phew. is still relieved.] A couple of days. I can't take the credit for the food, I had a lovely woman cook it for me but the rest of it... I wanted something personal than a sit down served by people. Somewhere quiet were we can get to know each other better.

[well, guesses that means it's been a job well done so far... but doesn't want to hurt him, either.] ... I've been thinking about you, too. That there's something there, under the surface... I want to see that side of you. Like you're holding something back, but I can't figure out what it is...
