The Djinn of the Ring
Character Information
Name: The Djinn of the Ring (usually Jinn, or whatever you wish her name to be)
Story: The Thousand and One NightsAge: Ageless, as time does not exist within the ring
Gender/Preference: Female/as you wish
Appearance: (PB: Salma Hayek) The djinn exist as beings of smokeless fire in their natural state (such as inside their places of captivity; in this case a magical ring). Outside of their prisons, djinn take on human forms. This djinn appears as a curvaceous woman with dark hair and dark eyes, dressed in seven layers of red and orange veils with the gold shackles that symbolize a djinn's slavery. Home is a battered old gold ring, studded around with six small dark rubies. There is an indentation for a seventh stone, but it has long since vanished.
Personality: Once upon a time the djinn was not human in any form or manner. She cared not for the consequences of her magic or the effects it had on others. During the early years of her enslavement in the ring, she was a cruel and vengeful spirit, often turning the wishes back on the person making them, and a lot of her masters met their demise through careless wording. Over time and with exposure to kinder people, she developed a sort of humanity of her own. Though it did not change the things she was made to do, it caused her to become more aware of the results and they ways in which innocent bystanders could be helped or harmed by her powers. With this newfound awareness, she developed a conscience and suffers guilt for the less benevolent wishes she must grant.
Strengths: Loyal, magically powerful, theoretically immortal
Weaknesses: Can only act on another's command, has a conscience over actions she's performed for others
Quirks: She recalls every master of the ring with great clarity and can remember every wish that she has ever granted. Performing magic is an uncomfortable process for her as she must shed her human form and return to a state of molten flame.
Secrets: Restoring the missing seventh ruby to the ring will free the djinn
Skills & Abilities: Easily concealed, resourceful with the semantics of wishes
Supernatural abilities: Has the power to grant wishes to whomsoever is in possession of the ring (however, she cannot directly kill anyone or manipulate time)
History: An ageless being who has existed in one form or another since the dawn of time, the djinn of the ring was trapped into servitude after an argument with a powerful magi. She caused a ruby from the magi's favourite gold ring to vanish, and in fury, the magi cast her into the piece of jewelry to remain, powerless but to serve others, until the jewel was restored. The magi was ambushed by bandits soon after and killed, his riches stolen. The magical ring containing the djinn passed from owner to owner from that point. Her latest adventure saw her taken aboard a pirate ship as part of a treasure plundered from a distant kingdom. During the voyage the ship sunk and the treasure was scattered to the seas; the djinn's ring washed ashore in Haven.
