She usually wears it down or in a pony tail and either slightly wavy or ironed straight. She is a tall girl, hedging up on 5'9" and she's not sure if she's done growing yet. She has a slender frame, although her chest seems better suited to someone a little bigger boned than she is. She has a wide, straight smile from two years of braces when she was 12 and 13. Her skin is peaches and cream, and in the sun she burns and then tans. She wears a lot of comfortable clothes. She isn't overly concerned with how she looks and prefers t-shirts, jeans and sneakers to skirts and heels. DETAILED PERSONALITY: In a word, Molly is nice. She is pleasant to those she meets and is a loyal friend. She studies hard and tries to excel in everything she does. She is slow to anger and is very naive. She knows nothing about drugs, alcohol or sex. She doesn't cuss and she is very religious, but she won't preach unless someone asks her something specific about her beliefs. She is desperately trying to understand how magic and God go together. She can be very take-charge, especially when something of her reputation or academics is on the line. She is trustworthy and honest, she doesn't cheat or lie and it is extremely difficult to sway her from her moral compass. She is constantly on the go and has a difficult time doing nothing.
She has confidence in herself, but she also has a humble attitude. She takes pride in her accomplishments, but she doesn't brag about them. She cares deeply for other people and expects the same in return. She can't tolerate self loathing or destructive attitudes. She wants people to be the best that they can be. She likes to help and strives to be a healer or medical professional at some point in her future. When angered, she turns in on herself rather than lashing out. But she can only be pushed so far before she snaps. She enjoys social situations and can usually find something to talk about with just about anyone. She loves athletics and is somewhat of a tomboy. She has a particular gift with animals, having grown up in an animal sanctuary, and if she didn't want to be a healer she would probably be a fantastic handler of magical creatures. |
HISTORY: At a singles dance in 1992, two people met and fell in love. Ava Brown and Christopher Richards knew from the first time they danced that they should spend the rest of their lives together. After some earnest prayer, both of them knew that marriage was in their future. Two weeks later, they were engaged. Three months after their engagement, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple. Christopher was in the midst of law school and Ava worked to support the two of them. But after a year of marriage, Ava discovered that she was pregnant. They were overjoyed to begin their family. Once their oldest child, Molly, was born, Ava stayed home to raise her. They struggled as Christopher finished law school and then took the bar. He took a job as a defense attorney in a prodigious law firm and slowly worked his way through the ranks until he became a partner. In the meantime, soft-hearted Ava had begun to take in stray animals. There was just not enough room in their home for all the animals and their family, so they moved to a home with twenty acres of land and eight bedrooms. Taking the necessary steps, Molly's mother started her own animal sanctuary. They took in dogs, cats, cows, pigs, goats, rabbits, lizards... anything they felt they could comfortably care for.
Ava and Christopher evenly spaced out their family. Both coming from large families with eight children each, they wanted to have a large family of their own. Every two years Ava had another child. After their sixth child, they decided to stop, especially when they started having trouble with Molly. They knew there was something wrong with her from the time she was two years old. She was speaking normally, walking, and even starting potty training normally, but she seemed to live in her own little world. At first they thought she had autism. But as she grew up and strange things happened while her parents weren't looking, they decided she had ADHD.
From the age of five, they had her taking piano lessons, dance, gymnastics, soccer and art classes. Her parents found that if they could keep her busy, strange things were less likely to happen because she had something to focus on. It didn't stop them entirely, however. Her piano teacher would complain about Ava playing tricks on her when her back was turned, playing difficult pieces without sheet music, only to play dumb once she returned. Of course she never listened when Molly tried to tell her the piano had played it all by itself. She was put into more and more extracurricular activities, choir, band, science club, and more sports than she could handle.
When she was ten years old, her parents were at the end of their ropes. They decided that it might be best to send her to live with Ava's spinster sister, Sandy, who lived in New Orleans. Sandy had settled in the area after her year and a half long mission for the Church. She had never managed to find the right guy and had never married. She eagerly took Molly in, glad to have some family around, especially a child. She would never have any of her own, and she desperately wanted the experience of raising one. Molly finished fifth grade at a muggle school in New Orleans before the owls began to arrive.
No one was more shocked than Molly and her parents to find out that she was a witch. Of course it explained everything about her troubled youth, but when Sandy told Molly's parents about the owls and CCI, they flatly refused to let her go. They believed that magic was the work of the devil and that no good could come from going there. But as they'd given up their custody to Sandy, it was really her decision. She could see how important it was to Molly to go there. She wanted to be surrounded by other people who were like her.
Sandy said she could go, but she insisted that she stick to her morals and continue her many activities. She also insisted that she stay involved with Church and attend her youth activities as well as go home on the weekends so she could go to church on Sunday. Molly was overjoyed. She attended her first year at the Lower Institute of CCI and felt like she'd come home. She participated in all the extracurricular activities she could manage and paid strict attention to her studies. She loved CCI and magic, but she couldn't help feeling conflicted about how it worked with her religious beliefs.
She's now a Sophomore in the Upper Institute and continues in her extracurricular activities while managing to also have a social life. She is now of age to date and is tempted to try it, but she's afraid to date anyone not of her faith despite having a terrible crush on Casey. |
