X-Treme Action [05 Apr 2013|09:17pm]
1) The X-Tremists stage an attack on Cape Citadel to steal the nuclear arsenal stored there, claiming that they're doing it in the name of Magneto and mutant supremacy.  Very quickly, they defeat the soldiers there and seal the base off with a wall of magnetic force.

2) This very quickly makes the national news, and very quickly reaches the Genoshan embassy.  Once they've appropriately calmed Gio down enough to be coherent, they get a hold of the X-Men.  Because this is definitely a scenario that requires delicacy and cooperation.  And also lots of hitting of things.

3) The X-Men and Genoshans arrive at the missile base and battle with the X-Tremists.  They prove capable of stopping the theft of the missiles, but the X-Tremists have teleportation technology and escape.

4) In true super-villainy fashion, Magneta later appears on television to rant about how she will not be silenced, humanity's days are numbered, etc, etc.

5) I'll leave it to Kate/Jeff/Paul/etc to direct the political fallout angle from the Genoshan point of view.

6) And, of course, on the other end of things, the government starts trotting out the old "let's register mutants, sentinels, etc" thing again.

7) Later, Magneta approaches Rikki about joining the winning side...

Here I Go Again [20 Jan 2013|10:58pm]
Once again, I travel to Wisconsin from training.  I shall be gone Mon-Tues-Wed, and returning on Thursday (likely to be on sometime late that evening).

I shall have my phone and therefore access to e-mail, but posting shall be limited, if at all.

We have ways of making you talk! (Action, 6) [24 Jan 2012|09:17pm]
Back when the cat-people had first come to kidnap Chris... or a time very much like it

So Chris was gone, taken by the Cat-People.  On the other end of things, they'd managed to capture one of them.  Unfortunately, that one wasn't particularly interested in talking.  And he was particularly interested in Rachel.  So she really didn't want to spend any significant amount of time in the same room as him.  But Cerebro wasn't finding Chris.  And they didn't have a lot of options, since she was the only one on-site with telepathic powers.

"Okay, last chance to talk," she said.  "Or we do this the hard way."

Aaaaawkwaaaard (Crack, prompt 9) [23 Jan 2012|10:54pm]
Okay, crap.   This was... definitely not good.  Rachel was just about as red as her hair.

So she'd been in her room with Starbridge.  Nothing... too serious.  Just second base.  Which was still kinda serious, sure.  But still, nothing that would bring about the wrath of the Grand Inquisitors or the powers that be or anything.

And sure, it had been getting a little steamy and hot and heavy.  But still, nothing to worry about.

Until she'd lost her telepathic guard and started broadcasting all her thoughts and emotions into the nearest room.  Which had been Cait's.  Which had been occupied.

So Starbridge had been very politely asked to leave while she dealt with that.  And yes, he had offered to stay, but this... she needed to handle on her own.

So she knocked.

1) As a noted authority on mutants, Professor Xaiver appears before Congress as the early stages of a new Mutant Registration Act are being pushed through.  The X-Men are on hand to provide some surreptitious security.

2) In spite of all this security, as the Professor is leaving Congress and trying to make his way past the reporters, a reporter suddenly transforms into an Omega Sentinel and attacks the Professor, critically wounding him.  The X-Men stop the Omega Sentinel before any more damage can be done... but even this doesn't look good for them.  Worse, they're forced to leave the Professor to normal medical authorities.  Even worse, the Omega Sentinel self-destructs, killing himself/herself, though the X-Men prevent further loss of life.

So not a good day to be an X-Man.

3) One saving grace, Starbridge and Rachel are, at least, able to prevent any of the medical staff at the hospital from discovering that the Professor is a mutant, through some on the site telepathic brainwashing.  Unfortunately, with high security and a high profile shooting, they're unable to get him out of there.

4) In the meantime, general violence against mutants goes on the increase, as do instances of people becoming Omega Sentinels in response.

4-b) In the middle of some one-off battle with throw-away bad guys, Toni Rhodes is attacked by an Omega Sentinel (other Avengers can also be here).  This one actually flees, rather than self-destructs (so as not to draw Avengers attention--in as much as that is possible).

5) The Genoshan embassy comes under attack from the Omega Sentinels, which while they fight valiently, is slowly a losing propostion, until the intervention of the X-Men turns the tide, bringing them to the relative safety of the Institute (which fortunately contains Sentinel baffeling technology).

They also manage to capture an Omega Sentinel.  Not alive, sadly, but before it could self destruct.

6) An 'autopsy' of the Omega Sentinel reveals certain unique components that could only have some from a handful of locations, one of which is an abandoned Sentinel base...

7) The X-Men and Genoshans travel to the Sentinel base, battling their way through Sentinels, both of the Omega type and the regular old models.  Slowly but surely, they make their way to the heart of the base, where they are confronted by...

8) Bastion.  Long thought destroyed, the hybrid Sentinel has slowly been rebuilding himself over the years, looking for ways to destroy the mutant menace.  Including seeding a small percentage of the population with the nanites to transform them into Omega Sentinels. And now, he's moments away from being able to globally seed the planet, turning every human into a weapon that can scour the Earth of mutants once and for all.

9) And launching the delivery system?  He already did it.  The team splits in half, some working to stop the rocket (guarded by Sentinels) and others battling Bastion himself.

10) The team battling Bastion himself is on the ropes, getting badly beaten.  The rocket stopping team has more success and... turns the rocket back upon the base.  While the other team evacuates, the rocket destroys the Sentinel base and, presumably, Bastion.  At the very least, no trace of him is found.

11) What I'd really like to see here is a post-recovery Professor finally coming out as a mutant and the school itself going public...  which could lead to all kinds of fun storyarcs and ideas and misadventures down the road.

Name: Rachel Summers
Codename: Marvel Girl
Group Affiliation: X-Men
Birthday: June 10, 1993
Eyes: Green
Hair: Red
Height: 5 ft 6.5 in
Wt: 118 lbs
Relatives:Scott Summers (father, living), Jean Grey-Summers (mother, living), Christopher Summers (grandfather, living), Alex Summers (uncle, living), Lorna Dane-Summers (aunt, living), Nathan Christopher Summers ("half"-brother, living), Aliya Jenskot (sister-in-law, deceased), Rachel Summers (sister/alternate reality counterpart, living), Nate Grey (alternate universe brother, status unknown), Tyler Dayspring (newphew, deceased), Adam-X (possible uncle, living), Andrew Summers (cousin, living), Beatrice Dayspring (cousin, living)

History: Life eventually settled down to the point where Scott Summers and Jean Grey were able to have a child, a red-haired daughter whom it only seemed natural to name Rachel. She and the Rachel Summers from the Days of the Future Past timeline proved to be genetically similar enough to either be twins or counterparts, though it was uncertain which it was.

Rachel grew up in the X-Mansion surrounded by some of the best family and friends it was possible for a girl to have. When she was five, she "married" Misha, nearly causing her father to have a heart-attack. By the time she was twelve, her mutant powers had begun to manifest. By the time she was sixteen, she had qualified for basic field status with the younger X-Men squadron.  Her closest friendships were, naturally enough, with the children of the other founding X-Men.  Her relationship with her cousin Andrew is strained, owing to her father's own strained relationship with Alex.

Rachel was one of several Xaiver's students influenced by Nightmare and rescued by Lucas. Her own dream dealt with becoming the Dark Phoenix and destroying not only her friends, but also the entire world. Lucas was able to talk her out of her fears by reminding her that the Phoenix was just as much a force for Life as it was for Death and that she should be proud to be the inheritor of such a legacy. Following this, Rachel's power levels increased, mental blocks she did not even know she possessed tumbling down.

As one of the four "White Knights" chosen by Iason to battle the Horsemen of Apocalypse, Rachel battled Death. During this battle, her injuries and the dire situation worked together to allow her to briefly tap into the Phoenix Force and fall under its influence to defeat the Horseman. Though she has been unable to call upon it again since, what it means in the long run is unknown.

Rachel was later one of several X-Men gathered by Starbridge to protect the Shi'ar throneworld from Galactus. During that time, she fully manifested as the Phoenix, turning back the Devourer of Worlds. The Shi'ar, while grateful not to be dead, were also operating on orders to capture and contain the Phoenix. She very nearly destroyed the planet herself, if not for the psychic intervention of Starbridge and her teammates. Rachel rejected the majority of the Phoenix Force and its influence over her, while still retaining a measure of enhanced power.  The Force still holds some sway over her and has been known to manifest in times of great stress.

Most recently, Rachel became the object of the romantic feelings of several of the Xaiver's boys.  Following an attempt by Mojo to make a reality show out of it, Rachel has expressed her own feelings for Starbridge, the son of Professor Xavier and Empress Lilandra.

Powers: : Like her mother before her, Rachel's primary mutant ability is telekinesis. She is capable of moving matter with her mind, the exact limits of which are currently untested. She can use her abilities to fly and carry others, as well as act more directly through bolts of telekinietc force and telekinetic force fields. With the power of the Phoenix boosting her abilities, even without accepting the fullest measure of it, Rachel's abilities are significantly enhanced, enabling her to even use molecular telekinesis.

With her telepathy unlocked to greater levels, Rachel is capable of mind to mind communication, reading thoughts, probing minds, and even altering memories or assuming control of another mind.

When she uses her abilities for anything more than low-level effects, a glowing fiery Phoenix emblem appears over her eye.

tweaked plot "The Dating Game" [24 Apr 2011|11:03pm]

The Dating Game

1)      Having watched the goings on of Rachel and her “Harem” for some time, Mojo decides it would be the perfect hit to slot into his winter programming, and dispatches the Mojo Force to retrieve them.

2)      Mojo Force attacks and captures Rachel, David, Torn Ear, and Starbridge.  (there can be some others of the X-teams involved in the fighting/defense here, even minor victories, but the net effect is the capture of those four)

3)      Once taken to Mojoworld, the four are placed onto a “Dating Game” type TV show... with surprise guest competitor Sweepzweak.    Each round consists of a question asked to each, and whoever Rachel picks for that round’s point is the one who doesn’t have to complete some kind of challenge (maze, monster fight, etc).  The winner, of course, gets the girl.

4)      In true Mojo-insanity, the last round of the game is worth all the points (and therefore renders all the previous struggles moot), and is a duel to the death between the four men.

5)      During the middle of the fight, the three good guys concoct an escape plan (which I will leave to Beth, Kate, and Terry), and hook-up with Rachel (who gets her own escape attempt and fight with Spiral during this time).  (I think Jeff may have also mentioned something about Sweepzweak playing honorably here and/or helping the others because he’s playing the hero then…)

6)      The four continue to try and fight their way out, when the battle is interrupted by Mojo himself, who declares the show a ratings flop, reality TV a stupid fad,  and banishes them back to Earth.

7)      Mojo then muses over the newest sensation—animation--and tells Major Domo to prepare for operation Real Life Super-Buddies!

8) Back at the mansion, Rachel makes her choice and picks…

[05 Feb 2011|01:03am]
The high seas.  A pirate ship was tossed upon the waves, its crew hard at work at the various tasks that occupied the normal work of seafaring.

The dread pirate Roberts looked upon the captured maiden with a mad gleam in his eye.  He was a pirate, true, but there was some kind of strange animal magnetism about him, something which quickened the maiden's pulse and filled her loins with a burning desire.

"And where is your beloved rescuer now?" he asked, stepping in close to her.  He put a hand upon her dress, ripping at the bodice.  "That was no life for you.  I can feel your wild passions."

He pressed his lips to hers and for a moment she did give in to her aching passions and kissed him back, before she forced herself to break away.  "I am a respectable woman!" she barked.  "I'll not have you sully me so!"

The pirate laughed.  "Oh, really?  It seems to me you were quiet willing!"

"Unhand her!"  the voice came from high in the rigging, and the Imperial Captain Starbridge leaped from on high, landing in front of the pirate Roberts, his shirt open, exposing his muscles, his feathery hair flying free in the wind.  "My lady," he called to her, "are you all right?"

Here too, were her passions raised.  The Captain was less wild, but still a handsome man, good and kind.

"You aim to rescue her?" the pirate asked.  "I think not!  Have at you!"

"Have at you, sir!"

The two went at it, blades flying furiously, neither one giving an inch, muscle and sinew glinting with sweat in the hot sun...

And then they both stumbled over the purple cat, which had been lying on the deck, sending all three crashing into the ocean below...

Rachel woke from her dream drenched in sweat, her heart pounding.  She pushed herself up, calling upon a small flicker of power for illumination.

"Okay,"  she said to herself.
"No more of Uncle Hank's chili and romance novels before bed..."
