THE INTERIOR you can see she's a beautiful girl, she's a beautiful girl
FIRST IMPRESSION: Lucy easily comes across on first glance as airheaded and not quite all there. In fact, most people who do know her find her that way as well, even though in reality she is very attuned to her surroundings. She oftentimes is quick to overwhelm new accquaintances with a bubbly, excited personality. IN DEPTH: If one thing can be said of Lucy, it is that she is a very free-spirited sort of person. Because of the way she has been treated by her parents all her life, she has seemed to unconsciously and naturally adopt their ‘c’est la vive’ take on her own existence and thus has always gone by her own rules. Living out in nature all of her pre-school life has added exponentially to her obvious lack of love for structured and organized environments, such as her school. This is the reason that her mother decided against sending her to Beauxbatons, where she herself attained her wizarding education—Joelle imagined that Hogwarts would be more comfortable for her daughter (though she also realized that no place but home would probably be comfortable enough). Lucy is a very compassionate and loving person, who is truthful and trusting (sometimes to a fault) and is not blinded by materialistic notions, making her an uncommonly accepting sort of girl. She doesn’t seem to care what anyone else thinks of her or anyone else, and will make friends with even her worst enemy if given enough time. But this may also be considered her greatest fault, for people who figure out this wish to win companionship with everyone and have bad intentions towards her will use this ‘weakness’ to manipulate her and lead her on. After all, she’ll do anything for her friends—to an extent—and if one is careful and doesn’t push her too far, they can win her trust and make her do things that she may not, until retrospection, realize as wrong. LIKES: Butterflies, chasing butterflies, animals, nature, flutes, salads, going to class, Divination, flowers, helping others out, bubbles, things that sparkle, the color pink, riding horses, French, philosophizing, & making new friends. DISLIKES: Meanness, people that destroy nature, people that refuse to understand, too much of the color black, darkness, Death Eaters, Voldemort, & big cities. ALIGNMENT: Anti-Voldemort PATRONUS: Butterfly BOGGART: Nature dying FAMILIAR: Geneviève, a white kitten that Lucy found in the snow in January of 1978 and took under her care. She named the kitten such because it sounded alike to janvier (January in French). Apart from this animal, however, Lucy believes herself to be in posession of the company of many faerie friends, who make their fun in losing her things for her and playing perpetual games of hide and seek.

THE EXTERIOR and everything around her is a silver pool of light
HEIGHT: 5'0" WEIGHT: 104 lbs HAIR: Blonde EYES: Blue DEFINING FEATURES: Lucy was born with a small purple birthmark on her left hip about the size of a bottlecap, which she will claim one day is shaped like a butterfly, the next like a centaur, the next like a---well, you get it. She's got quite an imagination. MANNER OF DRESS: The Martins aren't particularly wealthy, but that's alright because Lucy is a master of both sewing her own clothes, as well as mixing and matching just about everything she owns. This results in a dress style that is cute and quirky (although sometimes just downright odd). Accessorizing with random objects is one of her favorite things to do and you'll never spot her out without some kind of flower somewhere on her body. Lucy spends a lot of time making jewlery out of floewrs and adorning herself (and other people) in it.

| THE LIFE AND TIMES it makes you calm
BIRTHPLACE: Glasgow, Scotland CURRENT RESIDENCE: Glasgow, Scotland SOCIAL STATUS: The Martins are not poor, but are far from being wealthy. A couple of semi-struggling artists, if you will, who have no problem providing what is necessary for their daughter, but who would potentially struggle were Lucy any more than an only child. She is not spoiled by any means, but does recieve much of what she asks for, which is generally little. HISTORY: Lucille Arethusa Martin is the first and only child to be born to Luke and Joelle Martin, a couple of free-spirited and nature-loving people--you might call them hippies. The two made their first and most wonderful impressions upon one another in the midst of the music and chaos of a July 1960 Muggle rock concert, despite the fact that neither could understand a word the other was saying and that their roots sprang from completely different branches of the tree of life. Joelle, a well-bred and privelaged French pureblooded daughter who had just run away from her home in Nice thought that the slightly odd, starving artist Scot Lucas was fascinating, and he her. As any normal man would do when he's just met the love of his life, Luke offered the wandering girl a home in his flat, and she accepted happily. Within weeks, he had learned enough choppy French and gotten up enough courage to ask her to marry him, the answer without a thought being "oui, yes!" It was the same sort of reaction when she found out what she was pregnant later that August of 1960--everything was happening so fast, but the two lovebirds were far too caught up in bliss to care. While Joelle was six months pregnant, she and Luke made the decision (in what was quickly becoming the most confusing franglais you can imagine) to move to a home on the rural outskirts of Glasgow, Scotland, their idea of the perfect place to raise a child. As a result, Lucy was born into and spent all of her young life in a very naturey setting, always with a tree to climb, an animal to talk to, and a field to run around in--her surroundings coupled with the nature of her parents imbued the young girl early on with a love for nature and animals and all such things. It is also this that has attributed to her lifelong affinity for the subjects of Herbology, Potions, and Care of Magical Creatures. This sort of free and uninhibited style of living, however, made it rather difficult for her to move into the institutionalized environment that was wizarding school. Her mother saved her from the extremity of attending Beauxbatons, but even Hogwarts was far from Lucy's style. For the first few years of her schooling, she was probably best known among the other members of the Hufflepuff house for being the girl that managed to get into trouble on a day-to-day basis without meaning to. While she has since then adopted a sort of understanding on how to survive with and abide by rules, that doesn't make it impossible for her to slip up, or straight out defy said rules when she thinks they serve no purpose. She has, in fact, given many professors so much trouble about regulations around Hogwarts that she's been close to expulsion several times--Dumbledore, thankfully, seems to understand her nature. And after all, you can't just kick out of school a girl that got 11 O.W.L.s, can you?
