b>Third person writing sample:</b>

She thought bringing a bed from home had been a great idea. The provided mattresses were crap after all. So bringing her own would solve her problems. Right? Wrong.

Her bed shrieked and protested under her weight every time she moved a muscle. It may have been its reaction to the new setting of her dorm room or the long trip from her house to the college, but the frame was permanently angry at her for reasons she couldn't quite understand. She tried greasing it, oiling the joints, and even taking off her trundle bed in order to make the noises stop. But they continued to invade her sleep and dreams; even the other night she dreamt she was sitting at the table with her brothers and they were all making squeaking sounds instead of words to communicate with each other.

The weirdest thing was that she understood it all.

There seemed to be no cure for the crackling creaking monstrosity. Time and again, her friends told her to just throw the thing away and get a new one, already. She kept insisting that she could fix it. No stupid bed frame could outsmart her. She would fix it whether it took her her entire life.

No one ever guessed the real reason was that she still wanted her tiny piece of home. She still wanted her brother sitting on her bed and talking to her about school. She still wanted being tucked in before she went to bed. She wanted to keep the few good memories of her family that she could, and she wanted them forever.

"Jeez Temari," her training partner from the wrestling team berated her, "are you still working on this stupid bed? Throw it out already."

"I will," Temari grumbled as she rolled herself out from under the bed and allowed her partner to help her up, "eventually."
