"Foxglove lyrics," Cindy said, looking at Sarah excitedly. "The Tallus is spouting Foxglove lyrics. Wow. That's why you're not seeing any of your heroes or your newspapers. This is more like my New York. Specifically, it's George's Tongue. I have the album that was from. Released in 1998, but she admits in the liner notes she got the idea for the song in November of 1991, when that hurricane inexplicably hit New York out of the blue."

After that little rant, the little redhead paused for breath. "Oh dear. I'm going to go get a newspaper and check the date."

"I just have to be polite. A couple of rockstars aren't going to be immune to that." Cindy steels herself, opens the door, and asks, loud and clear. "Please Stop. Ladies, if you would be so kind as to explain what's happened!"

The two women holding hands just behind the slight bespectacled woman stop in their tracks and say, in nearl unison "I had a bad dream about [dead babies / my ex with her eyes cut out] and we've got to help Barbie because Thess says she's in a coma."

While they're saying this, Thess herself raises an eyebrow at the little redhead like something found under her shoe, and continues stepping down the stairs.

"Please stop ifyouwouldbesokind." Doesn't help.

Affirming sound from wide-eyed Cindy. The other two stay where they are. The minute Sarah starts forward, she has Thessaly's full attention. "I don't know who you are, little avatar, or why the Odinsson would want anything to do with this, but since I'm sure your little psi here has nothing to do with George... George almost made me /blink/... you can take her and go and we don't have to have a problem."

"Then I'll make this really simple. I know you didn't kill George, little avatar. I killed George. He wanted to hurt me. Nothing wants to hurt me and gets away with it. Now I'm going to track down what sent him, and I'm hoping that she's all I still have to kill in the next 24 hours, but if I have to make it more, I will. If any gods have a problem with that, I will find a way to work around them. Now, I need these two, and I need our coma patient, but if you need someone to pester, you can take Wanda from downstairs. She's no use to me."

And Cindy finally manages to speak up. "And if you shut the heck up and listen to the whole fate-of-the-world schtick, Lady, you don't get to be five thousand and one. You're so wrapped up in the whole eye for an eye stuff, you're going to get yourself killed."

And amusingly enough, /that/'s when the Tallus goes wild in its 'give the lady a cookie' kind of way.

Thessaly's trying to be stonefaced when there's a husky contralto voice shouting from downstairs. "She's still not waking up, people! The necklace is glowing, too!"

"It's glowing?" Thessaly actually looks surprised. "Well, then... no, then she'd be getting away with it." the blank fervor is back. 5,000 years is apparently a long time to develop stupid, stubborn habits.

"Downstairs there's an unconscious woman. The monster in her subconscious sent George to attack us all in our sleep. Hence the nightmares the others had. The solution is that I call down the necessary forces to take the three of us -- that's Foxglove, Hazel, and I, no avatars of male deities need apply -- into her subconscious so I can kill the monster with my bare hands. I'm not wasting any time on any other way."

"And pardonmebut what way is that, please, Mistress Thessaly?" Cindy asked precisely when the old sorceress was distracted.
Sometimes, even the best walls have a crack sometime.

"Breaking the stone on her necklace."

If you're so powerful, read my mind, check for the truth of what I'm saying, anything. We would not be here if it were not a matter of the world ending. If the stone needs to be broken, or you need someone else to take on the monster - then let us help. But you're not going to succeed and go on your merry way."

	Thessaly looks into Sarah's eyes. "Fine. Let me set up a tracking spell instead of the calling spell. I can keep a trace on the monster and kill it somewhere else some day. Cindy is sympathetic, and keeping track of people. "Dreamstone," Thessaly said They're extremely rare. Last time I heard of one being used was when that idiot calling himself Doctor Destiny got himself killed in Gotham. I assume it's being used to keep the monster in our sleeping beauty's head."

"Um... Doctor Destiny's thing... he made six cut themselves to pieces... I don't think the world needs stuff like that, Sarah" Cindy says.

"Little girl these things were forged by, for lack of a better term, a god. That Jersey idiot was petty-ante."

"The energy will be released onto the appropriate psychic plane when it's broken, and the monster will be able to go where it wishes, yes. I'm... not sure exactly how to break one. I don't have enough mystic force at my disposal without drawing some down through the kind of spell that started this argument."

As they reach the room downstairs, they'll see three things, probably not respectively: a 6'1" woman who is obviously transgendered, an unconscious woman in a pink nightgown wearing a necklace with a large, glowing pink stone, and a human tongue nailed to the wall.

Cindy's staring at the tongue. "I didn't have anything to do with that," the transwoman feels the need to point out. "That was all Thess."

	Sarah glances at Cindy, then the rest of the situation. "Ok... so we can't just let a psychic monster wander free. And... precisely what was up with the tongue anyway?" A pause, then a glance at Cindy again. "Ok, you know this world better than me. What am I missing? Can you think of any other options other than helping advance this mess?" says a disembodied voice. Cindy jumps.

"All I care about is if She's still alive in there, George," Thessaly said blankly.

"~She is.~"

"This kind of stuff isn't supposed to happen in New York. It happens in New Jersey. And it's why my parents would never let me go to New Jersey. Revolving-door lunatic asylum, and -- wait. Seriously? You've got the guy right here, and... Hey, George, what's the monster want? What's she going to do when she gets out?"

"...~She just wants out. That's all. She's been stuck in there too long. She goes on and on about how anything that stands in her way has to be eliminated.~"

And Cindy smiled at Thessaly. "Awww. You two'd make a perfect couple! So what god, anyway?"

"What?"

"What god? Who made the stones? Who stopped Doctor Destiny, since none of the capes ever took credit and we know it wasn't the cops? What god, and won't he notice the sudden release of psychic energy on his plane?"

	"What she said." Sarah emphasizes. Gods tend to operate differently in her world, and usually, this would be the sort of thing Thor or Hercules would end up noticing. Now, its up to them to try and sort this out in a way that doesn't cause a bigger mess. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"He's not one you've ever heard of. It's complicated. You're suggesting we bring him into this? He's a play-by-the-rules type; he won't wave his hand and fix everything. I mean... okay, at most, he'll grant you one favor for his stone back. Otherwise, he'll just look at you like you've lost your mind for even trying to talk to him."

"Sounds like a good deal to me."

"...Okay then. But the favor better be to kill the monster." And Thessaly starts to mutter something.
