"Foxglove lyrics," Cindy said, looking at Sarah excitedly. "The Tallus is spouting Foxglove lyrics. Wow. That's why you're not seeing any of your heroes or your newspapers. This is more like my New York. Specifically, it's George's Tongue. I have the album that was from. Released in 1998, but she admits in the liner notes she got the idea for the song in November of 1991, when that hurricane inexplicably hit New York out of the blue."

After that little rant, the little redhead paused for breath. "Oh dear. I'm going to go get a newspaper and check the date."

I'm on my way now." she responds, breaking the sound barrier, and then pushing well beyond that to cover the ground rapidly, until she finds the address and heads for the fire escape to catch up with Cindy. And Cindy will be in the room with the open window along the fire escape. Cindy's trying to stay professional, but shaking just a little.

"The...the crying just stopped... I'm sorry, Sarah. I should be more on top of this, I've just never..." She's still staring into the bathroom, where a clothed man lies in the tub, dry except for his blood, the stab wound somewhat dwarfed by the fact that everything that constitutes a face has been cut off.

Sarah hugs Cindy a moment in passing, then gets down to business, trying to find any sign of tracks or blood trails, given the mess. "Male or female crying? Any idea where it might have come from, if someone other than the guy in the tub? We're too late to save him, but maybe we can still find the killer." she answers, trying for a little of that infectious confidence by getting down to work.

	Cindy appreciates that quick hug, then tries to get to business. "Female crying. But lots of different female crying." And there are steps on the staircase. Three people. "Haven't gotten enough look to do." Cindy's trying to get the door open without making noise as the steps come closer.

"Wait, Thess, what about George? Did anybody check George?" says a rather soprano woman's voice, sounding strained.

"George is his bathtub, Hazel," says a second woman, tone casual.

"I don't want to know how you know when George takes a bath, Thess," a third woman says, sounding angry.

"I didn't say he was taking a bath."

"I just have to be polite. A couple of rockstars aren't going to be immune to that." Cindy steels herself, opens the door, and asks, loud and clear. "Please Stop. Ladies, if you would be so kind as to explain what's happened!"

The two women holding hands just behind the slight bespectacled woman stop in their tracks and say, in nearl unison "I had a bad dream about [dead babies / my ex with her eyes cut out] and we've got to help Barbie because Thess says she's in a coma."

While they're saying this, Thess herself raises an eyebrow at the little redhead like something found under her shoe, and continues stepping down the stairs.

"Please stop ifyouwouldbesokind." Doesn't help.

Affirming sound from wide-eyed Cindy. The other two stay where they are. The minute Sarah starts forward, she has Thessaly's full attention. "I don't know who you are, little avatar, or why the Odinsson would want anything to do with this, but since I'm sure your little psi here has nothing to do with George... George almost made me /blink/... you can take her and go and we don't have to have a problem."

"Then I'll make this really simple. I know you didn't kill George, little avatar. I killed George. He wanted to hurt me. Nothing wants to hurt me and gets away with it. Now I'm going to track down what sent him, and I'm hoping that she's all I still have to kill in the next 24 hours, but if I have to make it more, I will. If any gods have a problem with that, I will find a way to work around them. Now, I need these two, and I need our coma patient, but if you need someone to pester, you can take Wanda from downstairs. She's no use to me."

And Cindy finally manages to speak up. "And if you shut the heck up and listen to the whole fate-of-the-world schtick, Lady, you don't get to be five thousand and one. You're so wrapped up in the whole eye for an eye stuff, you're going to get yourself killed."

And amusingly enough, /that/'s when the Tallus goes wild in its 'give the lady a cookie' kind of way.

Thessaly's trying to be stonefaced when there's a husky contralto voice shouting from downstairs. "She's still not waking up, people! The necklace is glowing, too!"

"It's glowing?" Thessaly actually looks surprised. "Well, then... no, then she'd be getting away with it." the blank fervor is back. 5,000 years is apparently a long time to develop stupid, stubborn habits.

"Downstairs there's an unconscious woman. The monster in her subconscious sent George to attack us all in our sleep. Hence the nightmares the others had. The solution is that I call down the necessary forces to take the three of us -- that's Foxglove, Hazel, and I, no avatars of male deities need apply -- into her subconscious so I can kill the monster with my bare hands. I'm not wasting any time on any other way."

"And pardonmebut what way is that, please, Mistress Thessaly?" Cindy asked precisely when the old sorceress was distracted.
Sometimes, even the best walls have a crack sometime.

"Breaking the stone on her necklace."

	Thessaly looks into Sarah's eyes. "Fine. Let me set up a tracking spell instead of the calling spell. I can keep a trace on the monster and kill it somewhere else some day. Cindy is sympathetic, and keeping track of people. "Dreamstone," Thessaly said They're extremely rare. Last time I heard of one being used was when that idiot calling himself Doctor Destiny got himself killed in Gotham. I assume it's being used to keep the monster in our sleeping beauty's head."

"Um... Doctor Destiny's thing... he made six cut themselves to pieces... I don't think the world needs stuff like that, Sarah" Cindy says.

"Little girl these things were forged by, for lack of a better term, a god. That Jersey idiot was petty-ante."
