Personal History: For as long as Alicia can remember, it's always just been her and her mom. Oh, her dad would try and send money now and then which was promptly put away into a college fund that Al has no idea about, but for the most part it was just the two of them. It's something Alicia is more of less content with. Sure, there was a part of her that wished for a regular family - two parents who loved each other and her, more money to buy all the things she wanted. Alicia's mom works really hard, but there were things they simply had to go without - designer clothing, the latest toys. She didn't always understand when she was younger, but now that she's a little older she gets it. Still, it doesn't make it that much easier when her classmates are talking about big shopping trips and expensive vacations. She goes to school with kids who have iPod Touches and smart phones while she's lucky to have the crappy little flip phone her mom got her when she was 13. It's being held together with duct tape, but it still works well enough when she needs it to.
Alicia has never been one of the most popular kids around, but she does have a fair few friends. Sometimes they get frustrated with her inability to always do things with them. She's one of those girls who actually hates shopping and she works part time to earn a little spending money - babysitting and odd jobs, mainly, since she's only 15 - so she's not always free to go to parties or do whatever else her friends want to do when they want to do it. She's a little sensitive about it, which makes her prone to bicker over it easily and in truth, it probably bothers her more than it does them, but either way, it's often an argument waiting to happen, especially with her boyfriend and her friends who don't understand what it's like to not have money.
Financial woes aside, Alicia hasn't had a completely unhappy childhood. She and her mom are pretty close. Alicia has one of those cool moms who she can talk to about anything. Boys, sex - no subject is really taboo and she's never felt like there were parts of her life she had to keep hidden. They're almost more like sisters than parent and child in some ways.
Her mom has started dating in the past few years and Alicia isn't sure how she feels about it. For the first time, she's hiding something from her mom and it's putting a slight strain on her. She's telling herself it's not like her mom is serious about any one guy and it's nothing to worry about, so there's no need to bother her with her feelings on the subject.
Personality: Alicia isn't a typical girlie girl at all. She's not exactly a tomboy, but she's not super girlie, either. She never really got into dolls when she was younger, but she wasn't into sports, either. She spent a lot of her time reading or coloring or even just hanging out with her mom if she wasn't working.
She's not the most popular girl in school, but Alicia is relatively friendly. She doesn't have a lot of time for socializing, but she does enjoy hanging out with her friends when she is able.
Some might consider Alicia to be a little studious, but she really just studies as hard as she needs to in order to maintain a good GPA. Al doesn't know about the college fun her mom has set up for her and she's determined to earn herself a scholarship - she assumes it's the only way she'll get to college and she doesn't want to be poor forever. One day, she wants to have the education necessary to get a good job and to be able to really provide for her own children one day.
When she's not working or studying, Alicia can usually be found curled up with a good mystery or watching a little television. She's really into movies in general, especially mysteries and thrillers. When she's allowing herself to really dream, she fantasizes about being a famous director. Or maybe going into forensics like what she sees on CSI. She's not much of a science nerd, but that stuff looks really cool on tv.
Physical Description: Alicia stands at 5'6 and weighs about 120 lbs. She has a naturally slender frame. Alicia has brown eyes and her dark brown hair is generally worn long and loose, well past her shoulders. Sometimes she'll streak it blue, but the color is only temporary.
She prefers casual clothing, sticking with jeans and t-shirts most of the time. Her clothes are far from designer. Most of her jeans are well-worn and her wardrobe features quite a few items from Walmart or Goodwill. It's not exactly the latest fashions, but she's learned to ignore the taunts of her snobbier classmates.
