So. My brother's engaged now. His fiance's name is Joan (pronounced Jo-ann, not Joan as in Joan of Arc), and she's still in high school. He's 18. But, they did make the promise that they're not going to actually get married for years down the road until they're absolutely 100% certain that they can handle it. I think it's kind of sweet, and I was worried at first when I heard he was engaged-- I thought they meant like, marriage within the next year or so... But I'm glad they're just promising themselves to each other. :3
Besides that, I've been making icing roses ALL day. I've managed to come up with about 5-6 good ones and one I'm still iffy about. I'm aiming for 12 as a present for my friend Karma (she has a scribbld account but she never uses it, otherwise I'd link ya). They're pretty neat so far though. :D Waiting for those 7 to dry, then I'll probably do a few more tomorrow. I figure if I practice them every day and get better and better then by the time that I have class next I'll be able to do them properly for the cake we're decorating next time.
Speaking of the cake, I think I'm going to do a Silver-White cake with coffee-flavored icing/filling. I was thinking about doing a Spice cake, but I ended up deciding on that. I do need to go to the store to get some coffee flavoring, so I'm thinking of heading to Bristol Farms around Friday before I start the cake. I'll make the cakes on Friday morning, then piece it together, put the filling in, and put the crumb coat on on Friday night. Saturday after class I'll probably go about doing the actual frosting, then handle any imperfections on Sunday. It can sit and be pretty on Monday, then on Tuesday I'll bring it to class for decorating. :D
