Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
I don't understand why more people don't spend time in the greenhouse! Right now, there is the most lovely growth of honking daisies right now and they are like a gigantic symphony! I'm trying to get them to play like a bass drum along with my singing. Like: they keep the rhythm, and that lets me sing! And the flutterby bushes, they are like maracas. And that makes the fanged geraniums happy, they become quite lovely when there is music around, which is one of the secrets that you just have to learn, but I am happy to pass that along, especially if that's on the exams this week! I wish we had puffapods, though, I have been asking Professor Sprout to plant some, and she is such a dearest, she said that I could after the holiday if I wanted to, and I do! I know that divination is my gift, and I love Seeing, I do, but Seeing takes so much energy and focus, but the plants, they can just be fun and wonderful and just delightful in every inch of the greenhouse without me having to connect with the Inner Eye. Even Venomous Tentacula is wonderful! You just have to respect it and show it that you care for it, and it seems to know! Aren't plants just divine? Like people! You just have to give them love!

Best of luck on exams!

Oh I'd love to help you! I come in at odd hours, too! I think a lot of people find me a bit grating when they are trying to work--well, except for Professor Sprout, but she is an angel and such a great teacher. It's too bad you don't have her for a head of house, too, though being in Gryffindor is such a great thing, too, full of so many nice people, even though it looks like some people are fighting, but that's to be expected when you have high passion, there is always high risk, that's what my other says, but she's talking about work.

I think we should, Neville! We can choreograph routines for each plant variety, since I think they all like different things. The fanged geraniums, they really hate the twist, I'm so sad to say. But we can sing together! Or you can hum and I can sing and then together we can dance! And I love so many songs, though I do love to sing my own, especially songs about each plant when I see them. Oh we'll have such a lovely time!

Really? I don't think you're grating. But I haven't really seen you much, though. I reckon it is harder when we are in different houses. Hufflepuff and Gryffindor seem to be the best houses. Even with the fights. I hate the fights, actually. I wish everyone would just kiss and...er, you know, make up.

Whoa I've actually gotten rather good at dancing, so for once I think this may be something that will really help the plants instead of hindering them. I think. What sort of songs do you make up for them? Cheerful ones?

That's very sweet of you to say! I think you are ruddy brilliant, Neville, so kind, one of the kindest people--and anyone who Professor Sprout likes is someone that I do! But more important, you are so talented at herbology, I want you to teach me some of your secrets! I always love to learn, that's the best thing to do, to keep learning, and then you discover the most amazing things that you might have never seen or known before, but your entire life, you realised you were empty without seeing it or knowing it.

You're a good dancer? Oh excellent! We'll have so much fun! They all seem to love it, except for the Devil's Snare, but then again, that was my fault, and thank goodness that Professor Sprout was there to save me. I love to sing very happy songs, I only like happy songs--I like to sing to the plants about how smart and lovely they are, and I think they like it, since even plants have egos. Like people: people have egos that we want to protect like honking daffodils protect their little honkers, but even the daffodil can get over their hurt and then repair and honk again, and I'm sure every one will kiss and make up, especially Harry and Ginny, since they kiss a lot to begin with.

I don't think that's true, Gelsey. You sound a bit like Ginny, but you don't have to say that I'm brilliant. I think Professor Sprout likes me because I don't crack dingy jokes in the middle of Herbology about...naughty plant terms. Or something. That was well put! And I reckon it's best to work on things that you know you're good at, yeah?

I think so. Or sometimes I am, I think it depends on whether or not I am in the dancing mood. I enjoy all the balls I go to, though, and I used to practice quite a bit. Did you get attacked by the Devil's Snare? Remember to use light to frighten it away! What was the first plant you ever found? I remember when I was younger I...sort of, er, ate a violet and my gran had to punish me and pull them away from me because I kept trying to eat them. Never make faces at the daffodil, either! I hope they do make up. It wouldn't be a very fun holiday. Is this my fault?

I think you underestimate yourself! You have a real talent in herbology! I know, because I See sometimes, that you are helping out Professor Sprout, and no one else does that. I remember when you got the mimbus mimbletonia, you got it to croon so fast, it is so hard to do that! I have never tried, but it takes a real deft and patient hand, and sometimes, I am not very patient because when you spend so much time on one thing, then there are so many other things that you are missing out on, which is why it's so difficult to have a gift in Divination, when you have patience problems like I do, though if someting is really important, I think I could focus--and especially if someone needed me. But that comes natural to you, which is such a true gift.

I think I am always in the dancing mood, all I need is just me, though it would be nice to dance with someone else, for I never have, this would be very different for me! No, that's a lie, my mother taught me how to dance, and my mum is a very good dancer, I think I got it from her. But yes! I got snared by it, and I was so scared, I forgot how to make it stop, and I had left my wand across the room, and I didn't think to try a wandless spell--all I did was scream, and thankfully Professor Sprout was nearby and she saved me.

The first plant...oh! It was a dandelion, my mum and I were at the park in Tavistock Square, and she made me a crown of dandelions and rubbed the yellow on my cheeks, and these plants--they made me so happy, Neville. I will always remember how that felt, to be a princess because of the flowers. And you know, violets are edible! They are one of my favourite treats with a little bit of sugar! Oh, I will have to make them for you! Especeially on ice cream, too. It's such a nice treat...and I know that they will. Harry looks at Ginny like she's a warm fire after he's been out in the cold for days, and she says his name like it's wrapped in gold, and that's what I'd like to find of my own someday, but until then, I always have the thestrals and the geraniums.

And I didn't know that about the daffodils! Okay!

What else do you See? I help her out whenever I can. I don't understand how anyone can not want to help her, really, she's such a nice woman and she's taught me so much over all the years. I reckon I'll keep in contact even when I leave, too, she's always told me that I can come around and help her whenever. I can teach you how to focus more. With plants, rather.

I'm glad you managed to get out of there! I'd hate to be attacked without my wand. Though often times I don't know what to do when I have my wand. I think. Oh well. It doesn't matter too much right now, really.

Really? That sounds like it was a good day. Did your mum think it was alright that you enjoyed the dandelions so much, or was she as concerned as my gran? I would enjoy a bit of ice cream with violets! Until then, yes. Is there anyone...er, or rather, anyone you really fancy right now?

I can See anything, really, I've made two prophecies actually, I can See the future...what people are doing? Professor Trelawney says that I am undisciplined, and when I learn to harness my gift, I will be able to control it, but right now it's quite mercurial. I see things in my crystal ball best, but sometimes, I'll be focusing on someone or talking to them, and I will get a vision. Like right now, talking to you, I know that you need to make sure that you don't put too much jam on your toast tomorrow, because it will slide and end up on your robes--well, actually your tie. Other things I see, I don't think it's fair to talk about, I'm very careful about my gift...but if I could learn some patience with plants, maybe that would help! Oh, Neville, I would love to!

I think you are quite skilled, but maybe you're like me, and I get a touch flustered because I can't pick the right spell sometimes. There are so many! I love them all, how can you pick the right one! I like to do lots of spells, then, more than necessary, just because I can, even though it makes me feel a bit lazy at times.

Oh, it was the best day: it was just my mum and me when I was growing up, and she had to work a lot, since she has a very important job, so when we had special time, she was always quite fun and wanted me to be very creative. She's the one who helped me make my thestral wings! I love those so very much, most of all. I think you would like my mum, she would want you to eat the violets, if you wanted to. So I will have to have you over for violet ice cream over break, yes! You have to come!

Um--Justin Finch-Fletchley, who I adore and love and doesn't really know I exist beyond my name no. There's no one. But that's okay, not everyone is meant to have a love. Instead, I have a very very best friend in Melanie, and I play in the greenhouse and with all of the magical creatures, and the thestrals are lovely to hug when you are lonely.

That's really wicked, Gelsey! Though most people who claim to be able to See seem a bit mad, but you actually seem like you really cou Wow, really? That normally does happen! How did you know that? Did you See it happen before? I'll be extra careful. Oh great! I have a lot of books I've collected over the years, too, so if you'd ever like to take a look at some of them, you're perfectly welcome to.

I wish I could remember a lot more than I can. But I have a ruddy bad memory, so it doesn't always work like that. Can't complain about what we can't control, I suppose.

I wish I had days like that She does sound very nice. And she must be a lovely woman if she's your mother. Er, that came out sounding wrong. Because children tend to be a lot like their parents, rather. Do you think she would want me to visit?

That sounds very nice! Why the bloody hell did I even ask that?

I just saw it...Ginny is sitting to your left and she looks very tired, and Demelza Robbins is next to her and her hair is very pretty with a red ribbon in it, and Hermione is across from you, and it just happens. I don't know why I saw that? But it's what I thought about all of the sudden. I've never seen that before, but I've Seen a few things with you before, out of the blue, twice when I was talking to Professor Sprout and she mentioned you, once was when you were riding a thestral, but I also love thestrals very much, so it was very exciting to see that! But yes, I would love to read these books, you and I will have to go through them and pick all of the best ones and then talk about them and test them on all of the plants! Oh, this will be so exciting, Neville!

That is such a lovely way of looking at it. I think people search for negativity, and I don't know why. There are a lot of things to be sad about in life, but aren't there so many little wonderful things that we can string together to make something truly amazing instead? Bad things happen and they ask for us to be sad and humble...but really, in an every day normal day, isn't there enough joy around us?

She is a wonderful woman! And a wonderful mother, not many mums would be okay with a daughter like me, but she is so divine, she always encouraged me and even helped me make my first pair of fairy wings when I was only four. I think she felt bad for always working so hard, but I had a lovely childhood, playing at her work and with my own games. I only hope I can be as wise and delightful as her when I grow older. She'll love to have you around! She always wants to be sure that I have friends, you know. We live right in Bloomsbury, by the British Museum, you'll love to visit! There isn't much green, but there's the city, and oh Neville, it's like a playground for the mind! I'll owl Mum right away, and make sure that she knows that you are coming at some point, but I need to send it to the flat, since she's a Muggle, and her work doesn't like owls very much, rushing into the museum.

I make my own fun and my own company. It works for me, I think. Though I love having real friends, like Melanie--and you! I really like you!

That does sound like it's going to happen. I had been planning on going to the greenhouses during breakfast one of these days, but it seems like it's going to be some other day and not tomorrow! Sometimes I skip breakfast so I can help Professor Sprout get ready for her classes, sometimes she has so much to do and not a lot of time to do it. You should come with me sometime, too, maybe then we can look at my books before the first classes start? But you've seen me twice? I hope I wasn't doing anything too frightening.

For some there is never enough joy about. I reckon it must be a terrible feeling to be someone who is so unhappy a lot of the time. I know I get unhappy sometimes, but it usually doesn't last too long because I think of roses and such. Do you have a favourite coloured rose?

That does sound nice! I'm used to wandering around the garden and then coming in for meals whenever my gran tells me to. I never do anything too strange during the hols and what not, there's usually not much to do. But a playground for the mind...I reckon that sounds like something you have to experience to really understand.

Do you have a lot of fun at Hogwarts?

Oh, that sounds perfect! And we can pack a little something to eat with us and help and read, and oh, that's so brilliant! And you are so incredibly kind to help her out--or you're a natural teacher. Do you think about going into teaching, perhaps? You can practise on me!

I get unhappy and I get very lonely, especially when people steal my things and break them. I know I'm odd, and I know that I can be annoying, but I don't think it's nice to do mean things to people. But then...I realise that I'm a wizard! I have so much fun at Hogwarts, I do, even if I'm on my own most of the time, there is so much amazing here. So much to learn! I can cast spells...I can go ride a thestral, if Professor Hagrid is around to watch me, I can go smell all of the flowers and dance in the greenhouse...I can't believe that you love smelling the roses, too! I love flowers, so much... My favourite rose--have you seen the peppermint stripe ones that Professor Sprout has in the back? I love the red and white ones? And the orange stripes on yellow roses, those are so beautiful, and they smell so excited, don't you think?

We'll wander the city together and we'll make so much fun, just wanding around the neighbourhoods, and we'll run through Hyde Park and make all of the bird go flying and then maybe dip our toes into the fountain, if it's warm enough. We'll have so much fun! Almost as much fun as school. I do love it here, so much. I don't ever want to leave.

I can bring some bagels and tea. My gran loves sending me all these wonky things to drink. She's been traveling a bit more and always has to get new things from each new place she visits. Me, teaching? Er, I don't think I'd be any good at that! Why, do you think I would be?

People steal your things and break them? That's entirely rude. I break my own things constantly so I know how that feels. If I ever see anyone with something of yours I will get it back for you, yeah? Somehow. Usually I would just let people run off with my things, but I think we have to stand up for ourselves now. And sometimes people are a bit nicer than they used to be. Well. Not Morag. Or Malfoy. Or Pansy. Or any Slytherin, really. I don't think I've ever known someone who's had so much fun like that before, or at least fun that didn't involve Quidditch or Exploding Snap. Oh yes! Merlin, the first time I laid my eyes on them I couldn't breathe!

That does sound very lovely! I've never done so much in one day before. Never? You could teach here, then! Maybe with your ability to See?

That sounds delicious--and I love interesting and new things to try! And I will bring us along some blueberry jam, too, I think that will be so perfect! And I think you would make a brilliant teacher, Neville, because you are so patient and willing to talk to anyone, which is what teachers need to do, be so willing to help their students and not lose their wits when it's hard to understand, as well as be ruddy fantastic in their area. I think you would make a bang up teacher, and I can't wait to have you teach me! I would love to teach, but I don't know if I could be as good as Professor Trelawney, she's so incredibly gifted with her ability to reach the Inner Eye...and she's so encouraging of me. Oh, no, I don't know if I could ever be as good as her, though I would be happy to live here forever, though I so do want to see the world, and I am quite jealous of your gran!

People steal my things, and sometimes I catch them and a lot of times, I know who did it, but that's okay. Tracey Davis said that I should hex them, but I don't want to bring violence into the world. I want to bring joy, and the hopes that the joy multiplies and cancels out all of the sadness and hurt, and reacting badly over something, even something I love dearly like my antlers or my thestral wings, just seems to encourage more negativity. But I thank you for your offer, and I suppose it will be easy to catch the people, if they are running around with antlers, don't you think! Though I would much rather run around with those roses...they are so beautiful! They are exactly what I think love smells like. Exactly what it does.

Oh, we will have the best time in the city, then! I cannot wait! The holiday will be so exciting now, even more than usual!
