Current mood: hot

WWDC, SVN & More
It's been a busy couple of days. Mostly working from home, just researching and getting things together for people. Yesterday I put in like 2.5 hours, today about an hour, maybe a bit more. I just can't handle this heat, I am about to just go sit in the bath tub or something because this is ridiculous.

The horses are pretty pissed off too, they're dying out there. It's just way to hot. Currently there's a tornado watch in effect for Vermont, they always say that, but nothing happens. I mean this is Vermont, come on. I would be very surprised to see such a thing here. I've been enjoying the ice though, we got this like no brander cones and they're actually really good believe it or not. I've mostly been staying indoors too, even though it's still way to hot inside. We've given the horses baths, so hopefully that should help cool them down momentarily. Nippet was being a complete asshole about, so I gave a few good smacks, didn't really seem to help though...even Buddy was better about it then him was I found to be unusual. Definitely haven't been riding them in the heat, hopefully it cools down soon because I really need to get riding.

I've been trying to figure out if I can get into the Equine Science program at UVM, of course it's taking forever...I might as well as make some phone calls, because these people don't seem to check their email. I have a feeling even if it is open to me, I won't be able to get in because I didn't take calculus or chemistry in college, in high school I did do chemistry, but screw calculus. I really dislike mathematics, of course you really need to know if for that program, so we'll see.

I've finally gotten Subversion up and running and I really like it. I'm just a bit annoyed that I have another step in my process, instead of just making changes to a file, uploading it to a server and then synching it across the servers, I now have to make changes, commit them to Subversion, then upload it to a server and synch it across the other servers. So it's like an extra step, but it makes sense, it just sucks. But I am sure it'll come in handy when it comes time to update the whole code base and such. Or when I break something I can just go back a version. I am using this new OS X application, Version, which is WOW. It definitely makes my journey into using Subversion quite easy.

I put this under a cut because it might end up being long and could be boring for you non-Apple Geeks.

So, Apple held it's annual WWDC (World Wide Developers Conference) yesterday. For once I didn't see people suggesting a lot of consumer-based products to show up which was nice. I think people are finally understanding this is a DEVELOPER conference, it's not MacWorld!

As predicted by many Apple sites and I thought so also, Apple released a new iPhone revision, the iPhone 3G! It now includes the ability to hop on 3G networks, include GPS, it's slimmer, the headphone jack is now flush with the unit (no more getting adapters) and the point I found to be the best of all is, THE PRICE! The 8GB model costs $199 while the 16GB model costs $299 and is available in black and white. Personally, I'll definitely be getting one, I am not sure what I'll do with my other, current iPhone, it's almost worth nothing haha I don't know if I'll get the 8GB or 16GB version, seeing as 8GB seems to be plenty big for me right now, although I would really like to carry around all of my podcasts with me...and some music...but we'll see. I mean $300 isn't bad at all. The phone will be available for purchase on July 11th in 22 countries! I think I'll have to make a trip down to Salem, NH again to purchase one, seeing as it looks like you won't be able to purchase them online. You'll only be able to snag them from the Apple and AT&T stores.

Next is the iPhone SDK and software. It's really come along and the demos they showed off during the keynote were quite outstanding. I am sure there will be hundreds more shown on the floor, so I am really excited to see what they are. The unit appears to be able to display graphics similar to a Nintendo DS or Sony PSP so that makes me really psyched. A lot of good applications are going to be available for this device. I have a feeling we'll see the app store by the launch of the iPhone 3G or at least I hope so.

I really hope someone develops an application that either lets you control Front Row on a Mac or your AppleTV. That would be so awesome. Especially if they got CoverFlow working with it too!

Apple also got rid of .Mac and replaced it with a new service called MobileMe. It looks pretty neat. It's all web-based, I believe you get an extra 10GBs (for a total of 20GBs) of storage space. The web apps themselves look really intuitive and well made. I have a feeling I won't use any of them though. At $99, I still don't see this being that great especially when there's tons of other great alternatives (GMail, Flickr, Mozy, GCal, etc...).

Steve also announced Snow Leopard the next version of Mac OS X. It'll mostly if not all be behind the scene fixes and just working on the core of the OS. No features or anything like that. Being that, I am thinking they won't be charging $129 for it, I was hoping to see a price-point of $69-$89, but we'll see when the time comes.

Overall it was definitely an awesome keynote and right now the sessions and everything is going on. I truly wish I could have been there, but I am trying to save up to attend Channel Camp.

Hrmm, so besides roasting alive here, things have been well, I've been watching a lot of HorseGirlTV and catching up on old (we're talking 2005/2006) issues of various magazines. Haha I am a slow reader lol.

I believe that's all for now, I am going to get something cool to drink/eat.
