The Transition |

Finally after about 5 years, I’ve completely transitioned myself, my family and my girlfriend onto non-Windows computers.
It all started when I borrowed a friends color-bubble iMac G3. I used OS X Jaguar and OS X Panther on there until I finally made my first real Macintosh purchase an iMac G5, first-gen!
The little color-bubble actually did me quite well and I got through half a semester in college with it. I did email, web browsing, widgets (in the days when Konfabulator was cool) and wrote my papers on that beast.
The iMac G5 was a real treat, with a 20″ display, 1GB of RAM and a nice new G5 processor. I loved that machine.
Then came the iBook G4 which took over my iMac G5, I was into being a portable person then and I did everything on that iBook. I eventually gave it to my parents and they use it now for everything.
I’ve picked up every model of iPod except the 1st and 2nd gens and still have most of them.
I’ve also gotten PowerMac G4s (PLURAL), Xserves, Xserve RAIDs, MacBooks, PowerBooks, and to complete the transition, a PowerMac G5. It’s really nice, because I have a desktop and a notebook, so I can take my Mac on the go.
I have written papers about the Macintosh and switching to the Macintosh. Do it. You won’t have any regrets, and if you do…well let me know!
