Look inside, look inside your tiny mindThen look a bit harder'Cause we're so uninspired, so sick and tiredOf all the hatred you harbor

Frances poked around on her phone waiting for Martin to pop up from his meeting and go off for food, leaning up against the side of the office building he was currently in. If the lights flickered or the windows blew out, she'd know the meeting went.... sour and she needed to get in there. Hey, she could be a very believable bodyguard when the guy paid her in gold freaking doubloons. And by the way, she was now being followed by the Archival Squad for more. Looking up, she scowled at the picketers across the way and swarming the train station. Oh look at all the people's days you all are ruining, congrats. She sighed and kept playing Bejewelled, checking the time once more.

"Only thigh-high? Hmm...we can make it higher. Maybe add some cool effects. Be the most stylish hero person with the best attack effects! Then they'll think you have magic powers too."

"Hey now, why don't we just pull back on the enthusiasm. Let's go more for efficient and less Final-Fantasy, okay?" she bargains, very worried about having to do a Sailor Moon dance to make her arrows work. "The flashy ones we can use for fun around the Sanctorum."

"Magic can be very efficient! No reason it can't be flashy and efficient," he insisted. If he knew the Sailor Moon worries and got the reference he'd have looked into how to make an arrow that did the Sailor transformation effect. Just to see if he could.

She gives him a pleading look. "Flashy magic on magicians is cool. Flashy magic on a sharpshooter is like.... Orlen, or Doctor Strange, renting a polyester turquoise suit, with ruffley shirt, to a fancy dinner. It just doesn't work." She hopes the visual would sell her point.

"That's silly, they have normal suits, there's no reason they wouldn't use those." But he pretends to consider her request, tapping a finger against his chin and making hmmm noises. "I suppose it doesn't need to be too flashy..."

"Remember, the flashier my attack is, the easier it is for the bad guy to find me and take me out," she adds to help her case. "Both bows and sarcasm are lousy for deflecting bullets or cars sailing through the air."

He tsk tsked at her. "No no, it has to be flashy when it hits not before it gets there."

She shook her head. "No flashy. Sneaky. Strike from above, leave them bewildered."

"I can be sneaky," he said a little defensively. "I can."

Frances looks at Martin, at his hat, at the milk shake the size of his upper arm and lifts her eyebrow to rests her case.

Martin huffs and pouts at her, clearly feeling like he had to prove himself. So he glances around, rather empty place and nobody looking, and then with a dignified sniff retorts back in latin. Or, well, it sounds like a retort. But there's a slight swirl of blue magic after it, nothing all that flashy, and suddenly he's not there.

Told you so.

She smirks at his proof, because sneaky is totally invisible. She makes a point of look around, sucking a breath through her teeth. "Well if he's not here," she says out loud and steals a spoonful of his unguarded milkshake.

To him invisible was the height of sneaky. But he had to remember you needed to keep quiet for it to work.

The milkshake shuffles away from her and there's an invisible glare aimed at her. Hey! Cue slurping sounds and the milkshake level slowly going down even though the drinker was nowhere to be seen.

With a victory smile around her spoon, she watches the retreating milkshake move to safety. Invisible glares are sadly not as effective as visible ones, but she's sure it's a zinger. "It's a great job, I can't even see the shake vanish from the straw. Which is creepy-looking, so don't."

Naturally, he takes that as encouragement and more shake disappears. He even decides to be sneaky enough to make his straw disappear too. Why he did that becomes clear a moment later when the level of her own milkshake drops a bit and there's some invisible snickering.

Take that for sneaky!

Looking down, she sees the tide lowering in her cup. "Oh hell no," she declares and starts in on her straw, apparently trying to race Martin. Because that will not be regrettable later on.

Dig the hole deeper Frances! Because archers talking to themselves in diners and intensely slurping down milkshakes with that look in their eyes didn't exactly speak of sanity to begin with.

A race is it? Oh he was good at milkshake races. Time to show his milkshake expertise! Just as enthusiastically, though the invisible version, Martin starts on his invisible straw again, intent on beating Frances at her own milkshake race.

No one has ever accused a Hawkeye of having a firm grasp of sanity. Anyone who fires arrows at Doombots wouldn't be considered '' all together."

Yes this is going to hit her like a ton of bricks but she carries on, watching the milkshake vanish lower and lower by nearly full centimeters. Winner has to make the slurpy noise and she is focused.

Her invisible opponent is no less focused, this was the sort of focus used for learning the new interesting spells when you knew the Dr. was watching. No way was he going to lose to her at a milkshake contest.

All of his intense study-like focus is for naught, because Frances hits the bottom with a very loud slurp. "Fuck yeah!" she announces and stands up with arms up in the air in victory. And since the place is mostly empty, she doesn't startle anyone but the guy behind the counter, who she gives a thumb's up before sitting back down.

"Nice try, Pip, but age and experience trumps once again." Ignore the dirty allusion please, he's a kid.

There's an audible hmph from her invisible companion along with an award worthy pout-glare combo...which was unfortunately invisible too. Martin and his invisible straw go back to their own milkshake to sulk over the loss. No fair.

Them's the breaks. She smirks and twinges just a little, patting her stomach. I'm going to regret pounding that down I know it.

He sulks a bit longer then decides it's okay. Because he got to drink nearly half her milkshake. And he still had his to go too! So he'd won after all right? More milkshake was totally a win.

You milkshake was good though.

No no, we couldn't use my milkshake because then I'd get less milkshake overall and that wouldn't do. Not at all, this way he sneakily got to have an extra half a milkshake!

There's a few small blue sparkling lights and all of a sudden the young mage is there and visible again.
