CHARACTER
Name: Delilah Lily Porter Age: 25 Occupation: Bartender at the local pub on days when she can get someone to babysit Lily. Sexuality: Heterosexual Power: Plant Growth
Personality Positive Traits: self-sufficient, independent, free-spirited, open-minded, maternal, has a bounty of hidden strength, optimistic to a fault. Negative Traits: stubborn as hell, flighty, takes on more than she can handle, impulsive to the point where split second decisions can be damaging. Strengths: Being burdened with such a large responsibility has made her a stronger person, or so Delilah hopes. She's become something like a mother to her sister's child and the whole process has really grown her into someone less naive and not likely to take off at the drop of a hat. Besides her ability to rise to the occasion, Delilah's always shown determination in getting the job done when it needs to be, keeping an open-mind and friendly demeanor when meeting new people. She's decided that there needs to be more love in the world, so why not start it now? Weaknesses: Being so open-minded and willing to give a handful of second chances makes it quite easy for Delilah to be taken advantage of, though her fiery temper is one that you would not want to cross. She's fiercely protective of those she loves and would much sooner put their needs before her own, stubborn when it comes to accepting help- You could almost call it a pride issue. Brief Summary: Delilah is a difficult person to sum up in one sentence, full of complexities like all seem to be. She's sweet and kind to a fault, optimism sometimes mistaken for naivety. She'll be the first to tell you that she enjoys the simplicities in life- she believes in love and all of those good things, and she often gives more than she receives. Despite her almost innocent demeanor, Delilah's much more capable than she looks to be, independent and certain that she needs no one's help and has trouble accepting it when offered. While she often means well, impulsive decisions she makes often cause more damage than she'd like, bold to the point where she gets herself into trouble easily- being the youngest has made her less responsible than she should be. Despite her tendency to be of the reckless sort, she has an ability to rise to the occasion when needed- All in all she has quite a bit of growing up to do, but the presence of her niece is speeding up the process of becoming someone who she never though she'd be. History Family: Jack Porter (father), Ellie Porter (mother), Katie Porter (sister, deceased), Jamie Porter (brother), Lily Porter (niece, 6 months old) Brief Summary: It was a surprise to everyone when Delilah Porter survived her very premature birth, instantly fussed over and welcomed by her two older siblings and parents. Locals of Bristol, Massachusetts, Jack was the owner of the local pub and Ellie a nurse at the hospital. Her earliest memories were full of bright things- tugging on her mother's apron while she baked a cake, sitting on her father's lap while he introduced her to his close friends at the pub. She was always trailing after her siblings and older cousins wherever they went, and luckily they were always there to get the curious child out of whatever mischief she got herself into.
Watching her siblings go off to school while she had to wait at home for them to come home everyday was difficult for Delilah, and when her first day finally came she was excited and ready to be thrust into the world of learning so she could finally catch up with Katie and Tom. By the time she entered high school, they were both off to college and Delilah found that she wanted to travel off the beaten path- which led to her plan to leave the town that she had grown up in and explore elsewhere. It was a difficult feat to pull off, but once she graduated with saved up funds gathered over the years, she said her goodbyes and set off.
Her travels led her all over the world- England, New Zealand, France to name a few. She hit rough times but had good ones too, the trip shaping her into who she wanted to be. She went back home after a year, attending a community college and getting a degree in liberal arts- she still had no idea what she wanted to do, but everything seemed to fall into place after that, for better or worse. After her elderly father passed away, she moved back to Bristol to help her manage the pub along with her grief, one surprise coming after the other when her sister stopped by one night with a child that Delilah hadn't even been aware of- a small baby girl by the name of Lily. She stayed with Delilah for a week before one morning she woke up, and Katie was gone without a trace.
Delilah and her mother put up a missing person report and put up with the police investigations, but Katie had vanished from their lives as quickly as she had came, leaving behind a motherless baby. With her own worries for her elderly mother, Delilah decided to care for Lily until Katie returned- Which she was sure she would. But she didn't, and soon Delilah had to deal with the confusing revelations of the water- suddenly when she went outside to garden, the vines would rise up to meet her and she found that she could bring seeds to life quicker than had she just planted them in the ground. She kept this a secret even though people were discovering abilities all around her- She had a baby to care for and a job at the pub to juggle, and she couldn't be bothered with inquiring on why exactly plant growth had chosen her.
