Babysitting. Sort of.
Thank you for flying Egypt Air.
It had been the longest flight ever. As soon as the captain made the announcement of gratitude in both English and Egyptian Nic was on her feet, snatching her carry-on from the overhead bin and hurrying down the aisle. Dad hadn't sprung for first class or even business class, deciding instead to ship her back to St. Roch in coach. She still didn't understand that decision, nor did she fully understand why precisely her parents had decided a month before the end of the regular school year that she needed to go back home, enroll in summer school and live with her brother. For once she hadn't gotten into any trouble on a dig, had behaved herself, and was actually kind of enjoying things. The deserts outside of Cairo were pretty neat and Cairo itself was really cool. Nic had spent lots of time roaming the city, exploring, hanging out, flirting with hot Egyptian boys.
Oh. THAT was it. Well. Whatever. She was still irked. A multi-hour flight across the Atlantic hadn't fixed that at all and she was still a bit annoyed as she plowed her way through the human traffic at St. Roch International to get to baggage claim. She wanted her freaking mace back in her hand where it belonged and as soon as she saw it come around the carousel she snatched up with a snarl, startling a businessman who had been reaching for his own bag next to her. Still growling a little, she made her way out of the airport, hoping Rex remembered that TODAY was the day she was flying in.
