11:47pm: Not a Normal London Childhood
“And was does this button do,” Three year old Bram asked his grandfather sitting on his lap in his wheelchair sitting in the den of the Harker Estate.
“That fires a steel cable net coated in garlic oil. You know why the garlic oil is important right,” Quincy Harker asked his young grandson.
“Yeah,” Bram said enthusiastically, “Garlic makes is so Vampires can’t change and escape.”
“That’s right my boy,” Quincy said giving him a big smile.
Bram just beamed at his grandfather before looking at more buttons on his grandfather’s wheelchair. “Oh what about this one,” Bram asked pointing to a small red button.
“That one fires a wooden stake to kill a vampire,” Quincy says, “Here’s tough one for you if you get it right we can go get Ice Cream and see if any of your Aunts and Uncles want to come. What do you need to do to ensure a powerful vampire stays dead?”
Bram makes a serious little kid face thinking really hard. “Ah you cut it’s head off stuff it with garlic and burn all of it right?”
“Yes my boy,” Quincy says. He knew Bram would get it right, the kid was really bright and absorbed information like a sponge even at three he knew more about vampires than the average vampire hunter did. Of course even if he had gotten it wrong he would have still taken him out for ice cream anyways.
With that Bram gave a smile that seemed to make the whole room brighter just due to his sheer happiness and joy. “Ice cream, Ice cream, Ice cream,” Bram started chanting after a little while.
“Yes, Yes, Yes, Bram just hold your horses,” Quincy said trying to quiet the young child down, “Let me make a few calls to see who’s available to meet us for ice cream then. It should only take an hour or so but until then you can go play in your room.”
“OK Grandpa,” Bram said jumping off his grandfather’s lap onto the black marble floor waking up Saint before running off.
Bram might be a bit of a handful at times but he reminded him and the others to just exactly what they were fighting for and they would do almost anything to protect him.
