1. She tried very hard, but apparently against godly might, all the precautions in the world didn't help. The kid was unexpected, but not entirely unwelcome.
2. The child of the eldest male son of Thor still had some claim to the throne, half-mortal or not, and Vernique needed an Asgardian spouse... and both agreed Halbjorn wasn't suitable, so she married Svalin instead.
3. It was generally agreed that it was better that Svalin be known as the 'father' for all intents and purposes, because while the rage isn't necessarily passed on, there is still some stigma with being a berserker child.
4. Vernique gave in on an Asgardian name, but insisted on Svanfrior, or "Beautiful Swan", just as extra precaution in not tempting fate too much.
5. To just about everyone's surprise, and the frequent consternation of both her parents, Svanfrior is more like her aunt Aslief than any of them, and has already mastered a few simple cantrips at six years old. Unfortunately, she also has a little of the family attitude. She did end up with her dad's red hair.
