Backstory:  Jeffrey  Thomas "Tommy" Templeton grew up in the American South, in Loving, Texas, just outside of Austin to Jacob and Jerica Templeton. After Jake returned from serving in the military, he tried to effect change in the society of his small southern town. He opened up his own auto-shop, specializing in cars and bikes, and often let a young Tommy help him in the shop. The five-year old boy loved helping dad and was very close to him. Jake Templeton also founded an automotive club that helped out the people of Loving when needed. The club did food drives, helped paint houses and generally aided their neighbors in an effort to knit the community closer in friendship.
Tommy was devastated when his father was hit by an oncoming truck the day before Tommy's  sixth birthday.

Tommy's mother remarried a year later and gave birth to his brother, Jerry, the following year. Clarence "Carl" Clayton was Jacob Templeton's best friend and second-in-command of the Devil's Tribe Club and believed that the community should pay tribute to the club for all the good things it was doing for Loving. To this end, Carl got the club into more illegal dealings, eventually involving Tommy when he turned fifteen, and Jerry later on.

Tommy became a rowdy and wild young man, pulling off armed robbies, weapons deals and other crimes for the club, with Jerry later backing him up. Tommy later found out that his father's death might not have been an accident and confronted Carl, who denied any involvement. Carl, thinking that Tommy would turn him in or seek retribution, sold out Tommy and Jerry on their next heist.  The club paid for Jerry's lawyers and got him a reduced sentence when Jerry testified against his brother, pinning the crime solely on Tommy.  Tommy received five years in prison.

While in jail, Tommy was visited by a priest who asked him if he wanted to die behind bars, because that's where he was headed if he didn't change his life. Tommy, who didn't finish high school, got his GED in prison. After two years of good behavior, he was released and cut ties with his family. He moved to Los Angeles and started waiting tables, when he was discovered by Darren Vick. When asked his name, Tommy responded with "Austin Caine"; Austin for his hometown, and Caine in an ironic nod to the fact that he never gave up the brother who gave him up.

From there, a star was born.

How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: He's already been introduced through his interactions with Anya Stark.

What are you planning to do with this character?: Austin will eventually become the next Spirit of Vengeance and will interact with various heroes and villians in pursuit of vengeance.

What do you want to see happen with this character?: I'd like to see Austin come to terms with his new life and define what it means to him to be a Spirit of Vengeance. Also, I'd like to see what will happen when Austin finally confronts his past. Furthermore, I'd like to see interaction between Vengeance and Ghost Rider.
