Born into a Pureblood family, Marcus had everything he wanted growing up. Though their estate was somewhat on the small side, it still afforded Marcus some of the luxury people such as the Malfoys enjoyed. There was only one thing that was really lacking from Marcus' upbringing and that was a mother. She had died shortly after giving birth and there was a nasty rumour that it was his future step-mother who had killed her. For the first three years of his life, Marcus was raised almost entirely by the family's House Elf, Dotzy. His father's thoughts were that Marcus needn't have a proper Nanny as they had a servant who was more than capable.

His father remarried when Marcus was nearly four. She wasn't mother material and Marcus far preferred spending time with Dotzy. From the age of four onwards, he was tutored at home, learning the everyday things as well as a few more unusual history lessons. He was brought up to know all about the Dark Lord and his ideals. The unforgiveable curses were spoken of freely in his household as acceptable spells rather than evil ones. Marcus was taught time and time again that the only house worth being in was Slytherin as the Dark Lord himself had been one. By no means must Marcus be in any other house, especially not one as full of blood traitors as Gryffindor.

At the age of eleven he started Hogwarts, as did most wizarding children. There was a high expectation from his family for him to be sorted into Slytherin, 'the only decent house', and it was a relief to Marcus when he was. He had witnessed first hand what happened to people who disappointed his father and it was not something he wished to do. In his first year, Marcus kept to himself mostly, keeping his head down in lessons and generally behaving like a model student.

His best lesson by far was flying and the Captain of the Quidditch team told him one day in the spring term that he expected Flint to be playing for his house next year. It was during 2nd year flying lessons that he first became aware of a certain Gryffindor named Oliver Wood. The Scottish boy was as good as he at flying and this led to natural rivalry and competitiveness between the two. This would continue for the entirety of their Hogwarts careers.

Second year came and with his place on the Quidditch team secured, Marcus' other studies began to slide. He lived and breathed Quidditch and would do anything to ensure the win. Other players were scared of him and he found that this was true off the pitch as much as on. By his fourth year he was Captain and he shaped his team into a formidable side. They kept the Quidditch cup until his eighth year, when Gryffindor beat them. His devotion to the Slytherin team led to the decline in his studies. He just didn't have enough room in his head for anything besides Quidditch. He scraped 5 OWLs at A grade, but when it came to NEWTs in the same subjects his highest was a P. As such he had to repeat his final year at Hogwarts.

It was this ‘humiliation’ that finally drove a wedge between him and his father. When he returned home for the holidays after his seventh year, his Step Mother was waiting, with all his belongings packed up neatly in trunks. She had looked scared as she’d hastily told Marcus that his father had secured him a flat in Knocturn Alley and that he was no longer welcome in the family home. Marcus would later find out that it was she who had secured him a flat – this was the first motherly instinct she had ever shown him. After spending the summer fending for himself, it was a slightly changed Marcus that returned to Hogwarts for his (hopefully) final year.

After successfully attaining NEWTs on his second attempt, Marcus left school and immediately tried out for various Quidditch teams. He started as a reserve for the Arrows, but only stayed there one season as he wanted to be a full time player. Moving to Ballycastle attained him a seat in the first team and he played for them for three seasons before transferring to Falmouth Falcons this year. He is currently seeing George Weasley.
