Character Name: Evie Walters - 'Firefly'
Character LJ (if applicable): [info]flieswithfire
Physical description (face, build, weight): Red hair with blue eyes, 5'10, 130lbs. Curvaceous yet athletic.
Age: 20
Birthday: July 16th
PB: Rachel Nichols
Abilities: Telekinesis. Flight. Pyrokinesis.
Weaknesses and flaws: Has selective mutism due to her abuse from Weapon X staff. When she does talk, it's very quietly. Has problems keeping herself grounded now that she's not leashed and tethered; will start to float if she's not concentrating. Is uncomfortable around large groups of people and tends to watch rather than get involved. Is somewhat socially inept, but is trying to change that, as well as her vocalization.
Character location/Home: Her parents and her lived in Halifax, but after their deaths, she was removed to Hull House in Toronto - where she was taken by Department K and put into Weapon X.
Alignment (villain, hero etc): Hero
Relatives (living/dead?): None that she knows of.
Backstory: Living with her parents in Halifax, Evie was a happy and normal seeming baby. Then her parents died in a fluke plane crash during their anniversary and with no surviving relatives, Evie was placed in the system. She was taken in by Hull House when her test results came back with the mutant genome active. Before she could be taken by Department H and started in the Gamma Flight project, she was abducted by Department K and started in the Weapon X project. Abused physically and emotionally, Evie developed selective mutism, unable to talk around new people or in tense situations when her emotions got away with her. A handful of her trainers had noticed reports of her affinity with music before she'd been taken and they used it to manipulate her into doing what they wanted. As it stands, Evie sees music as her only means of expressing herself. Initially only marginally able to use her telekinesis, their tests expanded her abilities; amping up her telekinesis and extending it to flight as well. They also drew out her recessive pyrokinetic abilities.
How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: I'm wondering if she gets rescued on a raid or maybe she finally manages to get out on her own.
What are you planning to do with this character?: We're going to find out that she's the child of Johnny Storm - her mother having hooked up with him for a fling and not telling him she'd gotten pregnant. She'd married Doug Walters and that was who was on record as being Evie's birth father, though Weapon X's tests pulled up her DNA markers and matched them with Johnny's.
What do you want to see happen with this character?: I want to bring her out of her shell more. She's reclusive and shy and completely naive. She was a young child when she was put into Weapon X and most of her happier memories have been stripped away. She's been institutionalized and I'm looking forward to breaking that habit.

Sample post:
The lights blazed on again and Evie blinked rapidly to adjust her eyes, already rolling out of bed and sliding her feet into the soft shoes beside her bed. The door to her cell opened and the morning guard gave her a cursory glance before signalling for her to exit, hand curled around the button to the shock collar around her neck. It was a subtle warning, implying that if she so much as lifted a half inch from the ground, she'd be getting very well acquainted with it immediately after. Exiting her room, she pushed her hair out of her face and flipped it back over her shoulder, glad she'd braided it the night before.

An early call like this could only mean one thing; more tests. Pain. Endurance. Limitations. Hooked up to a hundred wires, reduced to nothing more than a guinea pig and thought of with as much consideration. Not that she knew any different. If she did, she could resent them. As it was, it was just what was expected. On the rare occasion, she had a streak of defiance and refused. The punishment was always swift and one that stayed with her for days. Pain. Fear. Overwhelming and flooding her until she was left hollow and shaking, begging for forgiveness. In those moments, she hated them. Because in those moments, she remembered her life 'before'. Sunshine, laughter. Things that seemed so foreign to her now - though she knew it wasn't always like that. It was those snippets of 'before' that kept that defiant streak still alive in her. It was those moments that kept her eyes open and waiting for a chance to run. Because somewhere out there, there was sunshine. And laughter. And the deepest part of Evie wanted it back.
