Mini-Application/Introduction

Full Name: Nell Mia Riley
Age: 20
Occupation: Student
Status: Currently single
Affiliation: None
Power: Precognition
Favorite Color: Used to be green.
Preferred Type of Toothpaste: No preference.

Family: Todd Riley (father), Marsha Riley (mother), Jesse Riley (older brother, age 29)

Brief History: Nell is the second of two children to a lower middle class couple. Her childhood was fairly balanced. Her family may not have had everything that they wanted, but they did okay for themselves. The kids were expected to pitch in around the house, since both parents worked full time. It was, overall, a fairly basic family life. They got along well enough, even if her parents were the most passionate people, and her brother was kind of an ass about having a little sister. Their dynamic worked for them, somehow.

That was all fine and dandy for everyone, up until Nell was ten. Her mother was driving her home from a friend's house one Friday night when a man who'd fallen asleep as the wheel swerved over in to their lane and hit them head on. Marsha made it away with a broken leg and a couple of bruised ribs. Nell, however, had been hit in the face full force with not only the airbag, but a bunch of flying glass. The doctors tried everything they could, but her eyes were ruined. Nobody expected her to ever fully see again.

The accident rocked her family. Neither of her parents were really equipped to deal with a handicapped child, and although they tried, they couldn't offer her the support she so badly needed. They just didn't no how to handle it, or her. Her brother was already out of the house by then, and though he helped out when he could, there was only so much that he could do. Nell spent a lot of time being shuffled off to different counselors, and having to try out different schools. It took her years to learn to cope, to become comfortable with what had happened. The entire family eventually made the adjustment, taking them back on to as even a keel as they could hope for. At the very least, Nell had something of a support system at home.

When she turned eighteen, she started taking classes in Charleston and moved in to an assisted living complex on island. About that time, she got her first service animal. Zeke had been in training for years, and was all set to be somebodies eyes. They hit it off immediately. The dog was the best roommate that she could have asked for, bringing not only help but the companionship that she longed for. She kept to herself, mostly, and the few friends that she'd held on to from childhood. Ophelia Dearborn was one of those friends, one of the few people that Nell never felt weird or pressured around. Despite their differences, they'd always remained super close.

Currently, Nell still lives in her one-bedroom assisted living apartment, along with Zeke, and continues to take a few classes. She also works part-time at a local animal shelter. Although she's not big on parties, Lia manages to coax her out from time to time. Mostly, when she's not at home, she's just bopping along the island with Zeke at her side, trying to live life on her own as best she can. Which is somewhat hindered by the fact that she's been seeing the future for almost six months now...

Brief Description of Power Capabilities: Precognition - She sees the future. At the moment, it's totally out of control. She gets flashes of different things at different times, and has to interpret them as best she can. Since she's got memories of the way things look, it can take awhile for her to figure out exactly what she's seeing. There are a lot of occasions where she doesn't know exactly what it is she's seen until it happens and she gets hit with deja vu. Currently, she's starting to develop retrocognition, or the ability to see things that have already happen. This'll probably be kind of shocking, since there's a lot that she didn't see in the past ten years that she'll be viewing for the first time. Flash precognition and the such will follow....eventually.

Notes: Yes, Nell is blind. No, she is not walking around in a fog. If there's enough light and contrast (like someone in black standing in front of a white wall, etc), she can make out shapes. She can see enough, most of the time, to know at least when someone is standing in front of her. This means that she's not always staring off in to space. She'll focus on someone when they're talking to her, and doesn't always pimp the sunglasses.
